The Cottee River holds some great memories for me and I try and take a drive through the area anytime I am “home”, even though it has been 45 years…
Google Atn Spinnaker tacker. That will give you info that you need. Also those snatch block ropes hold up the block. Expensive blocks. I like rail blocks as a preference for your size boat. Funny Josh Post is my buddy.
@@AdventuresInParadise that pendant in my opinion is goes around headsail. Your tack of assym attaches to it. The plastic on block could be anti chaffing protection. Never seen it before. Usually you just have a bungee attached to it. Its to keep the block off the deck.
The spinnaker leads should feed through a “turning block” mounted on each side of the stern. Turning Blocks are very stout blocks that (usually) are rigidly mounted to the deck. It’s important to get the proper angle so the leads are fair going through the turning blocks and forward to the winch. The force of the spinnaker on these blocks can be huge and may pull it out of the deck if not sized or mounted properly. Enjoy your spinnaker!
I showed my wife the "Does size matter?" video. Yeah, so much for talking her into a Catalina 22, lol. Her words "I like the bigger on". How hard was it to get insurance on the 28ft? After a day at the Seminole boat ramp I don't think she'd enjoy the hectic launch process.
Insurance is peanuts…. Really cheap, nothing like auto ins. All the boat ramps are crazy now because so many people bought boats during the pandemic. That’s part of the reason we got rid of our power boat. And if you get a little bit bigger boat you’ll be able to motor out into the Gulf of Mexico and sale around at your leisure. With that smaller boat you’re only gonna be stuck in the intracoastal waterway and if it’s on the weekends are going to have powerboats zipping by you so often the waves will be bigger than out on the gulf. On the other hand, 22, if it’s on a trailer, you could take anywhere, even down to the keys for a couple of days but it is like living inside a car.
The removable blocks maybe for the removable preventer on both sides of the boat attached to the boom at the boom vang, led forward of the mast than led back to the cockpit Allowing you to control the boom in light winds. Just an added safty feater for single / solo sailers but safty for the crew as well. Often overlooked by most. Gerard.
They're definitely for the Spinnaker as the previous owner had them in a bucket and explained them to us, even showed us where they go but that day was a blur and too long ago to remember!
@@AdventuresInParadise I do recall seeing an photo in reeds skippers hand book of an spannerka setup with four lines and the foot was freely attached. You may need to check with your libury to see if they have an copy to take out. Buying books is too expensive unless you can get one on kindle.
From the title I thought maybe you guys sailed down to Marco island. Those are cool stilt houses, though. I never knew they were there.

Thanks. So that small part goes around the furled Genoa? It's not a pendant/deck spacer? Any idea what the plastic part on the snatch blocks is for?

Love those stilt houses. One was for sale for $200k about 6 years ago.
