It was mind-boggling! Exactly what I needed! In 2 weeks from now I have my 3Dan exam and I'll have to show some bunkai to Chinte, and this kata was so hard for me to understand. Your bunkai makes so much sense, and it's different from what I thought it was. Arigato gozaimasu, Sensei!
One of the best if not the BEST explanation for Chinte, I will be teaching my students. Thank you Scott Sensei. Of maybe interest, Chinte Kata was not developed by a woman, and neither is it applicable only for women (a past Japanese instructor said and it stuck), I would say its applicable to everyone. For example if an assailant grabs you likely he is going to do a head butt, then the attack to the eyes is THE most logical self defence (apart from obviously lowering your head so if they do head butt :)

One guy says one thing, another guy says something else. Who is right? Are they both right or both wrong? And who is to say either way?
Personally I think any bunkai is not to be taken literally.
Am I right or am I wrong?
It doesn't help that at 7.42 it has to be this certain hand, at a certain height etc.
