    Superb Rajesh !.. I have met you in Bombay and I can’t tell you how inspired I was in your 20 minute talk about preparation for any examination in general and some stories from your time in IIT M and IIM B ..this video was excellent in the way you spoke about the authors, genres and books .. can’t disagree even 1% with what you said.. plus may be the audience doesn’t know that Rajesh’s own blogs are hilarious and so well written since he is so well read.. it would be great if you could give a link to some blogs of yours ..looking forward to the next video on books if you make one

      😁 I know what you mean, Keval. CB is okay as a warm up if one hasn't been reading for a long time. But it's best to amp up the level ASAP for CAT VARC. - Jatin (Lead VARC faculty at 2IIM)

    • @kevaljetani
      @kevaljetani 2 роки тому

      @@2iimcat No yeah, I do read high quality literature and non-fiction books for my VARC prep, in fact I haven't read any CB books yet, but I just found the idea of telling someone not to ever read something, ridiculous. I mean it's just about getting a head start, and developing the habit of reading right? For some, it's CB and for others it might be something else, it's just that many people create a big fuss about it, and it lowers the self-confidence of the students. Thank you so much ☺️

    I don't agree that The Da Vinchi Code is for beginners... it doesn't have a reader friendly vocabulary and the names are confusing...and also it's the second book in the three book series..one needs to read Angels and Demons first and then continue with it...To begin with one can start with easy books like Trevor Noah, Kushwant Singh and others...and also...the famous reads of this decade like Haruki Murakami's work are missing from this list

      He's great! But his books can be a bit abrupt and hard to follow through for new readers. 'Midnight's children' and 'The Enchantress of Florence' are great. Maybe after one has read five to six books,he can read Rushdie's.

      Since you have already read a book by each of these authors,I'd suggest looking out for new authors to explore more writing styles. I have been reading dystopian of late and would highly recommend '1984' by George Orwell and 'Brave New World' by Aldous Huxley.
      My most favourite author is Oscar Wilde. I am in love with his works. Absolutely in love. It's not even possible to be in love with someone without meeting them but 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' was a riveting piece of work. It took me a bit to read. It's for someone who is in love with the language. But I'd recommend a 100%. 'Kane and Abel' was fun to read. Much like an iconic olden day Hindi opera.
      'Midnight Children' is quite lengthy and I am currently reading 'The Enchantress of Florence' so I am probably biased.
