      Yeah except when the audience is filled with idiots. Salvador Dali answered yes to if he was a writer and the audience laughed at him, typical Americans too dumb to know he has many books published. They're as "polite" as their training, that is to say they have very little empathy and understanding outside of their very very small sliver of "life".

      Let’s start our very own politeness revolution! We can start using full words again, rediscover our manners, and discover what courtesy is all about. I miss the days when people did not dress like slobs. I miss the days when people knew what manners really were. Just using the basic words of please, thank you, or you’re welcome would be a good start.

    I never saw Phyllis Newman before and find her quite beautiful, so I look her up on Wikipedia and learn she just died today September 15th 2019. You caught my eye today, just as you were leaving. May you rest in peace.

      Yabadabadoo! She was one slammin' cavewoman. Even as a dinosaur-loving kid watching that movie back in the day, she was definitely the main attraction. "Fuzzy Britches" as the warden in "Shawshank Redemption" called her just before he threw a rock through her poster in Andy Dufresne's cell, was breathtaking.

    I remember her also for entertaining the Troops during the Vietnam war and when her film One Million Years BC was released, word soon spread, and, as if by magic, all of a sudden, husbands and boyfriends worldwide were very keen to treat their ladies to the movies!!!!!
    What a beautiful woman. RIP.

    As a teen in the 70's, I was fortunate to see Rachel Welch doing a cabaret style show at the Latin Casino Showhouse in Cherry Hill, NJ on my 18th Birthday. Thank you, Mom and Dad. Singer Jim Stafford opened for her. And yes, in person she was spectacular. 👍

      @@johnfused8281 No, it was mostly after 2000. It got much worse by 2006-2008. There was NO TV at all in the 1920's! I've been around since the 40's so I have witnessed all this.

Every catastrophic laws, ideas and customs (the so called "Sexual revolution" was the biggest blow), that brought down the western world to it's knees were from the 60's. The 2000's was when we could truly see the consequences. I hope, for your sake when you face Our Lord Jesus Christ, that you fought very hard against all of this, or at the very least, that you repent before dying if you were part of the downfall.

The 60's saw the beginning of the Sexual Revolution and real downfall of morality, but the rudeness and crudeness that is so common on TV today really became commonplace after about 2000. Before that, there were some standards. Apparently now there are none, and anything goes, to the detriment of all of us, but especially to children.

    The more I watch... "Watch my Line" , the more I become really entranced with the whole thing,the introductions of the panelists here (especially Arlene francis who is absolutely lovely) and not forgetting John Daly. It really is nice and easy to watch, and very satisfying, ...unlike the shows on TV today. I like to see the good manners, courteousy and respect that people showed to each other on these shows back then.

    I'd have to say Raquel set a new standard for beauty and sex appeal in her prime for motion pictures, and it's never been surpassed. She was and still is, undoubtedly the most beautiful movie star of all time, in my humble opinion.

    Arlene is such a class act. She's sharp as a tack, that one. She could pick up on clues that John was giving, and move along swimmingly without getting all bogged down. She knew when she was given a hint and knew when to change tact. What a classy woman, and with such confidence, she never appeared jealous or petty, but always so friendly and cordial. It's sad when I read of how she suffered at her death. For someone as brilliant as Arlene, it's painful.

      The had and used a much more expansive vocabulary more intelligent sounding less cursing in public and none on Tele hardly any in films back then. It's not that people didn't curse used the "F" word and whatnot. They most certainly did curse but it was not done in mixed company and NOT in front of old people and especially kids.

    Tony Randel had a difficult time at first looking at her. She so damn fine, women just don't come any finer than Rachquel Welch. Any man that was fortunate enough to love that woman was blessed beyond compare! OMG she's so beautiful!!

    I absolutely love how people weren't afraid to be adults back then. With mid-Atlantic accent (which I presume they received special training) they spoke with such eloquence, civility, and dignity. Nowadays in the U.S, people have no respect for each other, nor the English language for that matter. I love the mid-Atlantic accent so much that I would give anything to be trained in how to speak that way - even if it makes me look like a freak in the eyes of my fellow countrymen.

    She is so classy, and has elegance in that proper suit dress. The civility of this show is absent in any tv or cable trash show. Such a great cast and host. This gorgeous actress did not wear a low cut tight outfit, she has the confidence that her looks and class would hold up in a burlap potatoe sack. Her smile reaches her eyes, she is confident but not smug.
    Even today her beauty reigns still, as she has aged, just a natural.

    I remember when Bennett Cerf filled in for John Daly, and Julie London was Mystery Guest in 1957. Bennett said that John had picked the wrong week to be away.
    Well, unfortunately, Bennett picked the wrong time to be away. I'm sure he would have enjoyed this segment so much. Bennett will return on the May 28 episode.

    They say that when she walked in a room it was electric. Well let me relay my story. She had a song and dance act in the 70s. She even did a stint on Saturday Night Live dancing on of the dances. She came to the Warwick Rhode Island Musical Tent. I went and saw her. Just stunning. She walked down the aisle right next to me. Her rendition of "Fever" was fantastic.

    This was one of the best Mystery Guest segments; a hot woman stumped the panel. I am really disappointed in five episodes from 1967 no longer existing (that's five missing episodes too many!), but I'm glad at least this one exists.

    Arlene Francis was sixty the year this was made, and only just beginning to show signs of ageing...she was fortunate in her genes...but this wasn't really relevant...I think it'd be difficult to find anyone who had anything bad to say about her, and there aren't many of us this could be said about...she was lovely

      Arlene went on to live another 32 years and died at the age of 93 in 2001. Awesome for someone born in 1907.
