I read the book just recently and I must say it was amazing to me. I didn't want to put it down, even to sleep. This book brings out every emotion you have. You find yourself laughing, crying, happy, sad, and angry ( if you have a heart/conscience ). If everyone would read this book we would have a better world. Can't wait for the movie. They also wrote a second book called, " what difference does it make ". I've read a lot of these negative comments and a lot of you are too far gone for any help down on this earth. It's going to take a real eye opener for you, and none of us know exactly when that day will come. Thank God for people like Ron Hall, his amazing wife, and all the others.

It saw this movie, 4 days ago and it blessed me so much. We are all facing voids, some of us run after what we think will satisfy our holes and fill us but turns out to be so wrong and hurts relationships and our own mental and emotional growth. Some hate the pain and are afraid to face their pain or past and turn to quick fixes( drugs, alcohol, sex etc) to only dig deeper holes and fall in. We all need love and until we all love, do our part.. we are all homeless. Finding a place to truly call home. Love people offers no reason to fear helping another or fear of back lash, robbery or deceit or murder. Love protects and relates. It is compassion and love for the neighbor

Interesting that people see this as a white family saving a black man. I have read the book and followed the story. I very much see it as a black man saving a white family.

You're right however, if the wife didn't listen to God and go after her calling, her marriage would not have made it so it was her heart and the black man receiving the help and in return saved himself and help to save their marriage and give the white man Faith he needed in God. I agree with you and see the other side too

+Stompson Yacrea God did? Take every good deed, hand it to god, so we are all just puppets, with god jerking our strings? If so then why does he jerk the strings of paedophiles, and rapist murderers?
You have FAITH, Why? If there is proof, there is no place for Faith
Do you need faith in gravity ?

I'm a Marine for over 30 years, I served in Fort Worth and volunteered at the mission long before I knew about this true story. Read the book, watched the movie, and heard from the real people in the story. If you believe at all in a higher calling, you will love the story. If you just want to live life and cut grass, then you probably won't get much from this.

The sooner ALL people stop putting color labels on people, the sooner we can ALL start doing better for each other and ourselves.
It's a a movie about PEOPLE helping PEOPLE, making this a better place to live, and compassion for another life regardless of any other characteristics. It's so simple to love one another. Why must we complicate it?

    • @thatlovelydancerIlao
      @thatlovelydancerIlao 6 років тому +1

Because some people don't want to give up their comfortability to give in to doubt, fear and just do easy ( look out for self) though love makes everything so much better. Sad others don't want to do a lil of the needed work to make this world a beautiful place. So we who are mature and get what power love is, can grab some form of heaven til we meet our maker who is love

Well actually that's the way it used to be before Obama took office and stirred the pot along with MSM. Yes , for the most part blacks hung with blacks and whites with whites , well mostly because of their families who are the same ethnicity for the most part but no one ever said that someone else was privileged based solely on their skin color or "evil" or anything like that. Some of my old best friends were black growing up and some whom I worked with in the past. Now it seems everyone wants to judge by the color of their skin. But it seems to be whites who get the worst end of that deal today...at least in the MSM who tells society that it's not only "okay" but is NECESSARY !
      Pure division!!!

This was a very inspiring movie, I think the actors did their roles well. I wish there were more kindhearted persons in the world like Debbie. Persons who can truly look at others and see much more than outward appearances. People who give freely and expect nothing in return. People slow to judge and eager to act.

A time when all that was known was destroyed in wave of religious fanaticism.
Your god set christians to beating torturing and burning any who did not believe.
Lack of compassion and goodness offended NOT your "loving" god back then

+Nev Anderson Right, it would have been best for all Christian knights and military to allow the pagan and Islamic armies do what they wished. Sounds like a great plan. You know they call the Dark Ages dark because we know little exact history of that period, rather than it being some sort of negative connotation as you present.

The stories that get told and don't get told say something about racism. The story of a white Christian family saving a Black man is the one that gets to the big screen. Not the truth that most people who work in social services are brilliant, dedicated women of color who barely make ends meet from small wages-fighting to keep people fed and shelter when budgets are cut or redirected. Nope- that story is just real life not "post racial" propaganda. This movie exists to make white people feel like they aren't racist. Good for the real people who do this work for and of every ethnicity but lets not kid ourselves about what this movie is.

    • @triciairby5026

It's actually a great film. I just had a chance to preview this tonight and also met the producer who thought the trailer could have been much better, but unfortunately he had no control over that.

djimon hounsou is best when mad
if this trailer didnt have him go crazy with that baseball bat this would have been an automatic stinker
i doubt djimon's anger will be enough to save this though
