I read the book just recently and I must say it was amazing to me. I didn't want to put it down, even to sleep. This book brings out every emotion you have. You find yourself laughing, crying, happy, sad, and angry ( if you have a heart/conscience ). If everyone would read this book we would have a better world. Can't wait for the movie. They also wrote a second book called, " what difference does it make ". I've read a lot of these negative comments and a lot of you are too far gone for any help down on this earth. It's going to take a real eye opener for you, and none of us know exactly when that day will come. Thank God for people like Ron Hall, his amazing wife, and all the others.
It saw this movie, 4 days ago and it blessed me so much. We are all facing voids, some of us run after what we think will satisfy our holes and fill us but turns out to be so wrong and hurts relationships and our own mental and emotional growth. Some hate the pain and are afraid to face their pain or past and turn to quick fixes( drugs, alcohol, sex etc) to only dig deeper holes and fall in. We all need love and until we all love, do our part.. we are all homeless. Finding a place to truly call home. Love people offers no reason to fear helping another or fear of back lash, robbery or deceit or murder. Love protects and relates. It is compassion and love for the neighbor
Interesting that people see this as a white family saving a black man. I have read the book and followed the story. I very much see it as a black man saving a white family.
You're right however, if the wife didn't listen to God and go after her calling, her marriage would not have made it so it was her heart and the black man receiving the help and in return saved himself and help to save their marriage and give the white man Faith he needed in God. I agree with you and see the other side too
I grew up here in Texas feeding the homless as a child. One day my little brother walked off and we coudnt find him. but he found Mr. DENVER MOORE THIS. man is and was a Great a man. He was a hard man but a fair and Good man... From Thomas And Reshard Glad God made a way for you.
Just had a chance to preview this film and it was nothing short of amazing! Great film with many great messages. You have to see it. The trailer doesn't do it justice. And yes, Mr Denver was a great man!
+Stompson Yacrea God did? Take every good deed, hand it to god, so we are all just puppets, with god jerking our strings? If so then why does he jerk the strings of paedophiles, and rapist murderers? You have FAITH, Why? If there is proof, there is no place for Faith Do you need faith in gravity ?
I'm a Marine for over 30 years, I served in Fort Worth and volunteered at the mission long before I knew about this true story. Read the book, watched the movie, and heard from the real people in the story. If you believe at all in a higher calling, you will love the story. If you just want to live life and cut grass, then you probably won't get much from this.
+C. Cardi Higher calling? You need to be Called to do good? Atheists don't, we just see the need. Not looking for god to smile on us, only to know we have been kind. ...Your god uses genocide as a calling card
Just curious, why did you mention that you're a Marine before putting forth your arguments which, by the way, are totally unrelated to your occupation and experience. This is internet, dumbfuck, nobody gives a shit about what you do.
The sooner ALL people stop putting color labels on people, the sooner we can ALL start doing better for each other and ourselves. It's a a movie about PEOPLE helping PEOPLE, making this a better place to live, and compassion for another life regardless of any other characteristics. It's so simple to love one another. Why must we complicate it?
Because some people don't want to give up their comfortability to give in to doubt, fear and just do easy ( look out for self) though love makes everything so much better. Sad others don't want to do a lil of the needed work to make this world a beautiful place. So we who are mature and get what power love is, can grab some form of heaven til we meet our maker who is love
Well actually that's the way it used to be before Obama took office and stirred the pot along with MSM. Yes , for the most part blacks hung with blacks and whites with whites , well mostly because of their families who are the same ethnicity for the most part but no one ever said that someone else was privileged based solely on their skin color or "evil" or anything like that. Some of my old best friends were black growing up and some whom I worked with in the past. Now it seems everyone wants to judge by the color of their skin. But it seems to be whites who get the worst end of that deal today...at least in the MSM who tells society that it's not only "okay" but is NECESSARY ! Pure division!!!
This was a very inspiring movie, I think the actors did their roles well. I wish there were more kindhearted persons in the world like Debbie. Persons who can truly look at others and see much more than outward appearances. People who give freely and expect nothing in return. People slow to judge and eager to act.
I watched this wonderful film earlier on TV and it taught me a lot of life lessons. No matter how different your lives before, no matter how worst your past is, no matter what race you were from, anything can work if you'll work for it and if God is the foundation of your lives and plans.
A great story and great movie,if it lives half-way up to the power of the book. Always encouraging to note who doesn't like it. None of them ever lives on the streets.
I'm literally speechless at the vast hatred displayed in these comments. I'll choose to pray in lieu of the comment I was originally going to post.. #seriouslyheartbreaking
When you live in a day and age where even compassion and goodness offends people, you know it's nearly time for the Lord to come and set things right once and for all.
I pray for His return every day. Until then, I do my best to honor and glorify His name in all I do., and when I fail I get back on the path and try again.
+Ken Hein There's the difference, only those who need a rod at their backs need god. An Atheist doing good is motivated purely by doing good... Not looking for a path to heaven. Guess that is why they are only 0.2% of the prison population.
+SeeWithGreaterEyes Times were that christianity and the church ruled ALL Western culture. Everyone believed in god, everyone Feared god. +Nev Anderson Right, it would have been best for all Christian knights and military to allow the pagan and Islamic armies do what they wished. Sounds like a great plan. You know they call the Dark Ages dark because we know little exact history of that period, rather than it being some sort of negative connotation as you present.
This book just touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes. We should all learn the lesson reflected in the pages. I recommend it every chance I get... The story is true and if we are honest, we have all lived part of this story. I am so looking forward to the movie.
this dose look like it could be an outstanding movie, just by the trailer here. also renee zellweger plays in this movie. she's a wonderful and fantastic actress. i have to buy this movie.
Look up Uncle Remus (a slave from a Disney movie) on Google Images, then look at the paused image of Djimon Hounsou in this trailer, the similarities are scary.
Someone sent this to me and I thought it was an SNL sketch. Then I just realised Paramount Pictures posted this and it's real. I don't understand anything anymore.
The book is awesome, and based on a true story. Maybe, just maybe it can help reunite our country. When people don't have any info on something, why be negitive. If you've read the book, then please comment, otherwise....stop acting like a fool.
I'm having a really hard time understanding why Djimon Hounsou, Renee Zellweger, and Greg Kinnear would sign on to do this movie. Where they blackmailed? Are they out of money? Was it a dying wish request from the director?
This film is humanity. Very Lucky and Happy to watch this film. If you like film that makes sense you'll definitely love this film. But the name is too long 😆 🤣

The stories that get told and don't get told say something about racism. The story of a white Christian family saving a Black man is the one that gets to the big screen. Not the truth that most people who work in social services are brilliant, dedicated women of color who barely make ends meet from small wages-fighting to keep people fed and shelter when budgets are cut or redirected. Nope- that story is just real life not "post racial" propaganda. This movie exists to make white people feel like they aren't racist.
