- The performances in this video are ranked according to the level of skill, versatility, and role transformation Jack Nicholson displayed. To me, accuracy when making a Top 10/Top 100 all time list is extremely important. My lists are not based on my own personal favorites; they are based on the true greatness and/or success of the person, place, or thing being ranked. If you guys would like to view my other Top 10/Top 100 lists, feel free to check out my UA-cam page and/or my IMDb page at "ChrisWalczyk55."
Steven King: The Shining is a bad film.
Jack: I don’t think that’s true...
Jack : I am coming Stephen
And i am not Nicholson one ;)
OMG in The Departed he was AWESOME!!!
It's not great but Jack's performance was legendary. Really the only good part about it imo
You WANT me in that role! You NEED me in that role! 😁😁😁😁
True! YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH!
One of the most inspiring things about JN is that he wasn’t necessarily an overly attractive, masculine macho man. His raw talent got him over. Thanks for sharing this.
I think about the half of the female population would disagree on the "Jack Nicholson wasn't attractive" thing
@@zalybrainlessgenius503 because he’s a celeb. If he wasn’t they wouldn’t care
@@etiennemadore5899 Have you ever heard his voice? :)
@@zalybrainlessgenius503 he sounds great, but I still believe that people wouldn't care
He was handsome, but it was his charisma that made him attractive
I love the movies in which he plays characters named Jack.
Jacks dead,Now you call him joker.
haha yea
@@lukadautovic3500 Says this to another Jack. Irl that is.
The homophobia from a couple of them too!
Yess
One flew over the Cuckoos Nest is seriously one of the greatest movies ever made. Everybody owes it to themself to see that film
I was glad I saw it before reading the book. The movie and Jack are great. The book is even greater.
agree, my number 1 movie
Very well observed, Dutchman! I'm shocked and saddened that it's gotten only 43 Thumbs Up. I guess it's because the video was posted so long ago. Or possibly because the movie-watching public doesn't have a long attention span, they're too easily distracted - hey! lookit that squirrel outside!
The greatest moment in that movie is Christopher Lloyd's face when the chief breaks out at the end. I love that movie
First movie ever to have my eyes balling out
How he manages to shove so much emotion in to just his eyebrows is beyond me
Jack Nicholson is the actor of actors. He makes the others look insignificant compared (even though most of these actors absolutely are not)
Jack Nicholson created new characters in the world of cinema.. Particularly, his roles in Batman (Joker), in the shining, one flew over cuckoo’s nest, the last detail etc... these roles are a school.. Jack Nicholson is a great school..
I think there's an aura about him... Other actors seem to act better in his company.
That's not really true, the only one who stands out better than him is Tom Hanks
@@isaywhateveriwantandyougot7421 no dude i its pesci whos better than hanks
@@RoRo-vr6wx I haven't seen Goodfellas yet but the only thing I know Joe Pesci from is Home Alone. Let's just say that that isn't the reputation of an arthouse actor
The joker character took a huge turn in its persona when it's played by Jack Nicholson.
Yep. Before Jack, the Joker was all laughs and giggles and cackles and schemes... 😏😏😏😏😏😏
truth, Heath Ledger's Joker really seems like a combination of Jack's Joker and Jack Torrance from The Shining.
Yep. He really turned the joker into what most people think Heath did
@@pinkfloydmeddle6692 wrong
@@dennisthemenace855 Heath literally took inspiration from jack
Jack Nicholson is one of the best actors of all time. 🃏 🃏 🃏 🃏 🃏
I think he’s the best actor post-Brando, and Brando’s number one imo.
Both are the Best.
THE best
he is the GOAT
@@chodak.black14 Gene Hackman.🏆
Those eyebrows act better than many.
Better than deniro for sure.
@@EetsBack don't go there lol
@@davidrapp3899 where? He is seriously overrated. Has the same sourpuss look on his face all the time. Compare him to Gene Hackman or Dustin Hoffman.
"You gotta ask me nicely" - puts on the most serious face in all of human history.
Love it!
He didn't blink at all in the shining
legend
You can see him blink several times just in this video during the Shining clips.
Who you're thinking of is Anthony Hopkins in The Silence of the Lambs, he is the one who doesn't blink.
I cracked when he mockingly mimicked the “as soon as possible” line. 😂😂😂
Me too 🤣
That’s one of the best intentionally funny Nicholson moments ever lol. The Shining has some rare funny moments and I think Jack was the perfect actor to somehow be both funny and terrifying
How can you forget Chinatown?
Nothing from Wolf, either. Tragic.
Moviemaster21 I like my nose 💗
should've made it 1 performance per character
Also The Passenger.
Or 5 Easy Pieces, or Witches of Eastwick, The Pledge…
in my book he is the greatest of all time
He blew me away in Departed insane no Oscar nomination he should of won. The shining and one flew over the cuckoos next he was also amazing. I remember being a lil kid around 7 years old and seeing Batman jack as the joker amazed me and kind of got me into movies
yea
Jack N only one, so diverse in acting, he can play comedy , horror, thriller, I grew up on his films, a mans man, one guy I would love to have a meal with, jack the lad always for me.
Don't forget musical. He was in the movie Tommy based on the album by The Who. He even sings in it.
It’s The Shining for me❤️I freaking love Jack
10 best performances imo...
1. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
2. The Shining
3. A Few Good Men
4. The Last Detail
5. About Schmidt
6. Chinatown
7. Five Easy Pieces
8. Batman
9. The Departed
10. As Good as it Gets
Anger management?
terms of endearment should be in there
1. Five Easy Pieces
2. King of the Marvin Gardens
3. The Two Jakes
4. The Passenger
5. The Last Detail
6. Chinatown
7. The Shining
8. One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest
9. The Departed
10. Terms of Endearment
Why do people forget his performance in Reds. Oscar nominated and easily one of his best five performances.
As good as it gets!
One of the best actors of all time...
I would have loved to see him and Al Pacino together, maybe in a gansgters or thriller movie, how come no one brought these two together.
Probably it's too damn bodacious to handle the two of them. Probably they ran out of dialogues. Probably the outcome of any such movie is too obvious to be a hit that the directors felt no challenge at all. Probably it's too damn hard to do and too damn easy to make a mark in the history of movies
I mean....he's absolutely brilliant isn't he? Definitely one of the best. Top 5.
Jack Nicholson does an amazing job of portraying characters who aren’t quite right in the head. I don’t mean that as an insult to Jack, but it is a testament to how gifted he is at acting. It’s highly unlikely that I will ever get to meet him, but if I ever did, I’d love to shake his hand.
Jack Nicholson was a good choice for the part as the character "Jack Nicholson" in the movie "The Departed"
I think it was his last film in which he appeared
He really did just play himself lol
Inaccurate to say he played himself as 99% of high ranking gangsters are sociopaths. He plays a general impression his A “few good men” performance.
The shining was the first jack Nicholson film I watched and became a fan!!!😇
Redrum Redrum Redrum…😎🇫🇮
China Town, Five Easy Pieces, Easy Rider, Terms of Endearment, Prizzi's Honour, etc,.... There are many more performances that deserve to be shared than doubling up on the same films that Jack's been in.
Agree, him meeting the Dennis hopper and Peter Fonda for the first time in east rider and him drinking the whiskey is brilliant acting.
Agree..."The Shining" is to easy, low hanging fruit. He's got many more subtle, nuanced scenes where it's not all bluster and over the top emotion. Breaking up with Aurora (Shirley Mclaine) in "Terms of Endearment" was so realistic
ummmmm, the diner scene in Five Easy Pieces, perhaps?
@@jeffbeaman1 Yeah...That was a good one!..."hold it between your knees...!"
@@jeffbeaman1exactly I didn’t remember what movie it’s from but that’s definitely one his best!
His performances on the shinning should be on the top of the rank.
He's a masterpiece.
Jack Napier, jack torrance, jack nicholson. Together as one
DAMN! Jack's got like perfect teeth.
In the shining when he speaks to the wife. It’s like he fucking means it like he’s had it bottled up and in that scene he was allowed to say something he has always truly wanted to say. His acting is incredible.
Hers as well. 👌🏼
I have only one thing to say: Jack Nicholson is the GOAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Clint Eastwood has entered the chat
I’m pretty sure this is just footage of Jacks everyday life 🤣🤣
You missed Easy Rider stoned on weed giving lecture about UFO's
Bruno Alessandro Ardito Agree. A missed opportunity of acting greatness at Jack’s infancy.
Prolly the best video I ever watched on UA-cam
Thanks for posting!
Hey Jack, if you ever read this, can I share an amazing story with you? One day I was driving home, when all of a sudden the Lord came to me in spirit. I felt very close to Him. I knew if I asked him to play any song on the radio he would, I guess to bless my faith.
So I said "ok, Lord play "Come as you are by Nirvana".
I turned on the radio and the song started playing right there on the spot, perfectly…
I started getting flooded with chills like a waterfall, crying, and trembling.
He stayed with me for 10 minutes in my driveway. until I got outta the car.
A couple months after that I started getting amazing prayers answered way more often, because it helped me quit doubting when I pray and I was lined up with biblical instructions. It's 6 years later and I still get answered prayers in Jesus name.
His scene at the church from The Witches of Eastwich is my personal favorite. Thanks.
I liked the ironing board scene. "I couldn't hurt you girls. I love you.
Cher; You don't know what love is.
Jack; I could learn. You could teach me. How hard can it be?"
Shelley Duvall is so amazing in the Shining.. it's insane how good she is.
how’re you doing? I bring you friendly greetings from Atlanta Georgia
@@dougwillis3052 Oh, thanks... I'm on vacation now. Then I suppose it's back to all work and no play 😅
Ah, sorry: I bring greetings from Gålå, Norway (mountains).
Oh you are welcome, please can we be friends?
Honestly, I think she outacted Jack in some scenes.
His performance in The Departed is a bit underrated. It did blow my mind
one of my favourite actors, i wish he had done more work in the last few years :(
Been or not, he was so proficient in One Flew Over The Cuckoos' Nest. He was born to act that character. An absolute McMurphy with his hopes and presentation. Yea a Masterpiece..
6/2024..........Thanks. I was missing hearing Jack's voice. He is unfortunately really old, maybe he is very retired. I haven't seen him out in public in years. His voice was iconic. His acting was always superb. I just needed to hear him speak, rant, shout,....anything. To refresh my memory.
Stephen King's The shining (1980) with Jack Nicholson and shelley duvall
I chose jack nicholson over 150 actors
Disney's popeye (1980) with Robin Williams and shelley duvall
Nicholson has had a a receding hairline for over 40 years now
I went to USC with Jack's daughter. Introduced to her I could not help but do imitations from "Cuckoo's Nest" about Billy "bird dogging chicks." Jennie just left and my pal Mickey said,
"Good job, Travers. You really know how to talk to women."
He will remain my favourite actor of all time FOREVER.
The Art off acting...those eyes!!
He has atleast 3 better quotes in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest."
also in shining
funny how he's best piece of acting from the movie was right after the scene in the video
Such an amazing movie
*YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH!!*
He is my favourite actor
5.40 made me ROAR with laughter!
It seems like he is always the angry guy in all the movies he has been in. He is my favorite actor!
Health Ledger is considered the best Joker but Jack Nicholson will always be my favorite. In fact he was scarier in Batman than in the Shinning
Amazing actor!
The god!
So the title should be: Top 10 Jack Nicholson Performances in 5 out of the 65 movies he's been in.
Jack makes movies that touch deep the human spirit! ❤❤❤
ugh i love him so much
Happy 87th Birthday 🎂 Jack Nicholson (Joker actor).
Anger Management! Wonderful and so realistic and important to learn from!! And funny!❤❤❤
I am so sad, so very sad that we do not have an actor like Jack anymore. But I am grateful that he was in my life.
seeing him with leonardo dicaprio makes me laugh. Two of my faveorite actors together!!!!!
Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson
(Tim Burton's Batman 1989)
I didn’t know that Jack Nicholson played The Joker
Yep
Coocoo first. Damn correct.
Quel acteur, magistral.
Jack Nicholson is without any doubt the best actor EVER!!!! I am really sad that he doesn't do movies anymore. REALLY sad!!!! He is the GOAT!!!
So many great movies. If you look closely on scene #3 you can see the moment that woman starts to like Jack. Right after he hits her with the "You make me wanna be a better man" and they zoom in on her and back to Jack. She softens up and he starts to get a little more color in his face. Friggin fantastic movie 🤌 and that little piano in the background 🥲
Mr. Jack Nicholson is My Brother From Another Mother!!!👍🏻👍🏻🌹🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
We Are For Sure Sharing The Same Soul!😎🇫🇮
I watched The Raven, with Vincent Price and Peter Lorey, and I was super surprised to see a VERY very young Jack and Shirley Jackson in it. It was before he was in Easy Rider.
I love him in A Few Good Men. And The Shining. And Terms of Endearment. And As Good as It Gets. Ahh he’s so awesome.
lololololol
You count 2 different scenes from 3 movies each when Nicholson had a 60 year career. The idea that Five Easy Pieces, Chinatown, Terms of Endearment, About Schmidt, Easy Rider, The Passenger, Carnal Knowledge, and Reds ALL didn't make the list but A Few Good Men made the list TWICE is hysterical. Try watching more than 7 Nicholson films before you go making a top 10 list of his performances.
Good call Zach; I'd have Antonioni's "The Passenger" in a Top 10 for sure.
"Terms of Endearment" and "Chinatown" as well.
@Zach Marsh. Have to agree Zach. The final scene in About Schmidt is for me, his finest performance in a distinguished career.
Agree Zach!! Easy Rider, the hold the chicken between your knees scene in Five Easy Pieces, Chinatown, multiple great scenes in Terms of Endearment, Carnal Knowledge...he’s too great for just 10, and you definitely can’t repeat movies!
One flew over the cuckoo's nest. The best movie EVER!!!
I’d marry him in a hot minute. Most beautiful man on the planet x
I think he is ACTUALLY pissed off at his co stars when he acts.. To hard to pick his best performance because they are ALL great!
Jack's first film appearance was way back around 1960 when he was in Little Shop of Horrors, the original, not the remake.
My understanding is that #5 went into the Guinness World Book of Records. It took 127 takes to get the shot correct as actress Shelley swung that bat at Jack walking backwards up the stairs. And you think you had a bad day at work...
I have a tattoo on my leg of jack in the shining..."i love the little bastard"
Jack Nicholson scared the shit outta Tom Cruise
Any movie he is in, is a watchable movie & will not disappoint. He is a really great actor.
Here's Johny!!
Jack can play anything!! Truky one of the best actors of all time
Folks, Five Easy Pieces was his breakout film. Gotta start at the beginning, so, ENJOY. Don't let it get away.
Mcmurphy died but he made dozens of other People live
5:40😂😂😂my favorite
As soon as possible 🤪
H C 😭😂
Are u serious? You are going to leave the part where he yells and Morgan Freeman in “The Bucket List”
Young Jack from the door in The Shining is like Leonardo Di Caprio
Is axl roses
Jack Nicholson is the best actor ever bar none. I will miss him at the movies
The Witches of Eastwick 😁👹
I was literally thinking to myself “I’m sure the ‘World Series’ scene in ‘Cuckoo’s Nest’ won’t be #1, so I’ll have to comment about how I think it should be #1”… lol.
:-O Is that Kai Winn from DS9? OMG it is so. Louise Fletcher was a stunner back in the day :)
I love this man
jack nicholson plays very good movies
I don’t agree with the order here - his performance is A Few Good Men scene is probably one of the best - but these are all very good. He has been in some amazing movies. One missed here was Terms Of Endearment (I love that film).
Very good actor.
If Cuckoos Nest was the only movie he ever made he'd still be the best ever.
The only celebrity I’d want to meet.
Chinatown, Wolf and about Schmidt the dear Nadogo part at the end bring tears to my eyes
