- I was able to play with my Marshall JCM800 2203 in a long time with the volume that it's supposed to be played at my friend Erkka Korhonen's ( @ / erkkakorhonenguitar )
Tone Hill Studio and man...I had forgot how good it makes you feel playing with a real tube amp and a 4x12 cabinet. And especially this beast of an amp. Goddamn! Do yourself a favour and try one if you have a chance. You won't regret it. Thank You Jim Marshall! \m/
The original footage of the EV intro clip was shot by Dennis Henson and KJ Melgoza. Thanks guys!

The most emotional video of all. Yeah, it was enjoyable to watch
Glad to hear! 😊
The camera shaking while you playing its just amazing
Yeah it was pretty damn loud in there 😊🤘
I wish Ill never reach to the end of your Vids, cuz Ill have to go through them all over again😂👌
😁👌
I'll never forget the first time I played a Marshall stack. It touched me in places I've never been touched before.
The same thing 💪
yes. from the balls!
Can't beat a fire breathing tube head. It's so hard to capture the sound of a 4x12. The camera rattling gives it justice and an idea of the air and sound it is pushing.
I love my JCM2000 TSL!
Indeed! JCM2000's are great amps also! I used DSL2000s a lot live with Shining back in the days. Either those or JCM800s.
@@EugeValovirta230V what about the JMP JCM800 2203??? I think your has the same parts., maybe during repair., added a JMP in the Pre-amp section, I just tried one and it sounds allot like this, mysterious compared to any 2203 stock!
LMAO the volume was shaking the camera. Priceless. Very nice!
Yeah! 😎💪🤟
Thanks!
That sounds killer, what I remember in the early 80s. I had a 50 watt 2204 back in '80, I should have never sold it. I still have the 4x12 cab and looking into getting a 1987x.
Hard to beat an 800 😎💪.
This video made my day, man! :-D Now a good old Marshall JCM and a 4x12 cab are on top of my bucket list! Fantastic stuff! You're right... this makes you feel happy no matter how bad your mood is. Thanks for sharing! Please upload more of it!
Thanks! Glad to hear that! I'll do more in-depth video of the amp in the future \m/
Oh the Marshall noise is piercing through your ears. Sounds badass!
I have JMP 2203 from 1982 and seems that this has more gain.
It does! Thanks! 🙏💪
Euge Valovirta does this still have 3 preamp tubes?
@@kesis2203 Yes. To my knowledge it's a stock amp and everyone's been really astonished by it's sound and have asked me what mods has been done to it but I haven't done any in the 20 years I've had it and it has always sound like this. Maybe I should take it to some amp guy to check it out :-)
Love this video. I very much relate to your enthusiasm. Sounds awesome. Found myself laughing out loud.
Glad to hear! 😎💪
After watching your many videos on that awesome sounding JCM 800 finally caved in and ordered one of the re-issues today. I’m psyched. I was torn between the 1987x and the JCM. Decided to go for the 800. Already have a JTM45 so the Plexi will have to wait for now. Hope I made the right call :D
Can’t go wrong with a Marshall, and especially with a good ol’ 800. They’re loud & mean as F but that’s what I like 😎.
Awesome friend,killer tone🙃🙃🙃
Thanks! 😎🙏
Dammit Man! WOW! I gots to get me one of those!!!
🤟
My favoritr video of yours. I have the same Marshall 2203 from 1984, soundig same, love it. But I use it with two Mesa cabinet. A Demon.
Cool man! 💪🤟🙏
I remember, your is from Sweden, my is from Germany. It's must to be the same shipment. My father told to me that he bought it in around Mart-April 1984. Monsters.
It’s so loud the camera is moving, Love it! Just ordered a Friedman modded 800, can’t wait!
😎💪👌
Holy shit! Monstrous!
💪🔥😎
Awesome
Kas.. mullahan on tuon pikkusisko täällä.. ;)
Enpä ole tuollaisilla volilla uskaltanu kokeilla.. lähtee pian kämpästä lasit! =D Hyvältä kuullostaa..!!!
Kyllä! Sama soundi, mutta vuoden nuorempi 😊. Joo, ei tällä himassa voi vetää. Piti frendin studiolle mennä luukuttamaan 😊👍. Kiitos Vellu!
I'm enjoy this video so much Ha Ha. :D
😎🤟
Look at him smiling - that's all about man
😎💪
Behold The Bad Boy.... you know it's loud when whole room is shaking.....
😎💪
@@EugeValovirta230V I hope I'm able to see u one day Euge.... I been wanted to try the "bad boy" for quite a long time....
Aaaaaah 🔥🔥🔥❤️
KYLLÄ!!! :-D
Everytime someone tell me marshall does not do metal, I'll send this link in a minute!! 🤘🤘
Cool!🤘😊
Sound doesnt get much more aggressive than that, impressed, ps, I love your right hand chugging technique, it's elite, how much is that natural talent vs decades of experience and playing?
😎🙏💪.
I guess both but mostly practising my ass off 😊.
Great video and demonstration of the 2203. Have you considered using the legendary tones Hot Mod V2? That would make for an awesome video.
Thanks! Glad to hear! No I haven’t since I love the amp as it is and wouldn’t want to ”sacrifice” the tone for a video 👍😊. But I agree that it’d be nice to do a comparison with and without the mod.
Ai että! Viis sekuntia "real dealilla" riittää aina muistuttamaan onko ne mallintavat sittenkään niin kovin hyviä :D
😊👌💪🔥
Lacking this amp in my life, so I'll watch this video instead when I feel miserable. 🤣 this is insane with the SD1 added.
😁🔥👌
Cool dear friend!!!! 🤘🏻❤️
Thanks Conrad!
Euge You are wellcome!!!!
Holy Mother Mary Euge! Your neighbors are awake now...lol!👍🎸💥
Luckily this was a professional isolated studio 😎👌.
I love how the camera can barely handle the power coming from the cab a Volume 1 o‘clock 😆 The physical side of standing in front of that force is second to none
Indeed! 😎💪
man that fucking marshall sounds incredible. i was about to buy a triple rectifier but maybe i should reconsider. I love that sound
Yes it does 💪. It’s very hard to top good old 800 boosted with an overdrive 🔥🤘
I’ve got both, I hardly play the Mesa, great amp, but my 800 ? Has a sound that is very appealing, and tough sounding, addictive sounds, sometimes I go to play for a few minutes, and the tone is so good 2 hours later, I find myself finally turning off the amp, even though I still want to play? Magical amp!
Hell yeah man! 🔥💪
@@joemasse4568 i ended up getting a rectifier but I will still get a Jcm800 because i'm in a John 5 craze and i looove the sound and the fact that the jcm can do wonderful cleans for country stuff also hahaha
I have the same amp and a JCM 900 and they both do an awesome job of moving air if you know what I mean.
Cool! I definitely know what you mean 💪😎.
nice!
Thanks!
everytime you play picture shakes is that video effect of firbreathing dragon you have there chained up named marshall?
Not a video effect so it's like you said. The dragon is pretty damn loud :-)
God damn man.
😎💪
Holy s@#$! That amp sounds really monstruous! I own a 2203 and I use it w/ a SD-1 also. It´s brutal! But I can´t do it with Bass on ten!!! I think your amp is really modified. Would be nice to know what´s going on inside this little monster. Pls, make a video about it!
It does! It was confirmed a while ago that it’s a stock and I’ve done a few videos about it😊. Please check out my channel’s TUBE AMPS playlist 👍
@@EugeValovirta230V thanks for your reply. I'll check them out! 👊👊👊
@@RennerGutierre Cool! \m/
Hey great video man, really enjoyed it! I play basically the same setup with the mxr overdrive as boost. Haven‘t tried the boss sd-1 yet. Which one do you like better? the mxr or the boss? thx
Thanks!
SD-1 is my all time favourite 👌💪.
@@EugeValovirta230V Thanks for the answer! Keep up the good work! Learning a lot from your videos! One thing i still ask myself is, which speakers are you mainly using, because it‘s so killer sounding!?
@@muertemuchete7379 Thanks! I use Suhr Reactive Load IR with Jens Bogren's IRs, mainly SoundOfGodEQ2 & GreasyBeardEQ1.
nice video
Thanks!
@@EugeValovirta230V you are entering my personal chart of favourite guitar players
Oh cool man! Really glad to hear this!
Did you get a chance to compare the Uberschall to the 2203? I am considering selling my BE100DLX and getting a Blue Rev Uber. Just as a different flavor to play together with the 2204.
Can’t remember anymore but I’ve played with that head quite a few times but not when I filmed this 😎.
So, the video is wavering with each down stroke. Prett loud and nicely chunky. Would like to see inside your amp. As an amp techy, I can imagine what the mods are. I have three JCM 800 2203s and I've modded them and get that same tone as yours but with a bit more gain.
Yeah! 😎
Here you go: ua-cam.com/video/5s-Dd9C-tno/v-deo.html
Hi Euge, it's a very beast this 2203 😈! have you compared the original 2203 vs 2203x (reissue)?
It is 💪. No but I have the 2203 ZW which is basically a 2203X but with 6550 power tubes and it’s pretty close but not as aggressive.
@@EugeValovirta230V Ok! is there a comparative video of yours between the two?
Probably quite a few but can’t remember whichso please scroll through my Tube Amps - playlist 😎.
How do you like JHS Bonsai ? Do you still use it ? Thanks.
Yeah it’s great! 👍
Tulee ihan Zakk Wylden soundi tosta mieleen. Kiva nähdä että kundilla on hauskaa! ;)
Suosittelisitko SD-1 Waza -versiota normaalin sijaan?
Näin on!
And after all these years, I didn't know that Heath Ledger was still alive
😊👍
That's NOT a 1984 head. Its a 1985 or later. 1984 amps have vertical high/low input jacks. Beginning in 1985, the inputs are horizontal....
It is. It’s around the time they were making the change. I owned 4 of those Scandinavian edition 800s back in the day but now only two and the 2203ZW 👍.
Here’s more info about the amps: ua-cam.com/video/5I6nTYCEpVs/v-deo.html
@@EugeValovirta230VFrom the Sweetwater link in your video link: If you have an original ’80s JCM800 2203, if it has its two front-panel inputs aligned vertically, you’ll instantly know that it doesn’t have this change. This is because the inputs weren’t changed to being horizontal until 1985.
If, however, your 2203 does have horizontal inputs, then you’ll have to take a look at the serial number in order to find out its year of manufacture. Said year is designated by the very last letter before the numbers start. Here’s the skinny:
T = 1985 (“old way”)
U = 1986 (maybe “old,” maybe “new” - sorry)
V = 1987 (“new way”)
W = 1988 (“new way”)
X = 1989 (“new way”)
Y = 1990 (“new way”)
@@EugeValovirta230V Easiest way to confirm the year would be to remove the grill on the back of the amp. On the left side, there should be a QC date inscribed. There is on my JCM 800 2203 w/vertical inputs: 8/6/84.... Bought it brand new when I was a teenager, still sounds as amazing as ever. Recently installed a metropoulos zero loss FX loop board. Other than that, its all original, only replaced the tubes twice in 37 years....
I’m aware of this but thanks anyway👌😎. The serial number on this one starts with S. On my 1985 it starts with T .
I remove the grill on all my amps for them to ”breath better” ’cos they’re usually in a rack.
The QC is: 6/12/84
I’m looking to buy a 1984 2203 for my son, what years are the best?
sounds ok....
I think it sounds massive & fantastic 😎💪
its not stock, no way sorry
It is like my other from 85 👍.

I call B.S....I've owned Many Many Marshalls and they do not sound like that...period...
In the right hands they do. I’ve had many and still have and they always sound crushing. At least when I play😎👍. Good rule of thumb is that if one plays like a lamb those will sound like a lamb but louder and if one plays like a lion those will just ROAARGGHH 😉🔥
Indeed. Take it to the right tech and he'll make it rumble. I have one exactly like this and one white 20th anniversary which sounds even better!
