This is the only amp I've ever owned bought the half stack from my English teacher who was using it like a coffee table for $300. Had no idea the deal I got cause it was my first amp and I was just starting my guitar journey. 20 years later it's still my only amp and I still love it.

Elements of so many great players yet not enough to diminish your unique mastery. Pursuing a plexi tone for years I decided the 800 is the one for me. Right now just a sl5 combo going to my original jcm 800 412 cabinet wired 16 ohm. Dropped a mullard in it and run an archer od in front at 5 watts. Got the anvil clank and the woody violin tones absolute Bliss. Quality content Euge. 💪🎸

Great sounding amp. I’ve played and owned Mesa Boogies (Mark IV, Single Rectifier, Road King) for most of my life because I always felt that they’re better amps for home use, but this is really making me want to get an 800! It just sounds so alive. Hard not to be inspired by that tone!
800 2203 is my all time favourite amp. That boosted with Boss SD-1 is just 👌💪.

Dude that is crazy amazing that Thomas is gonna put the bad boy circuit in amp x....you must be so happy. I'm happy for you man. I'm sitting here with my amp1 iridium right now at 3 am and a 4x12 peavy cab. I'm dialing it in with your guitar and man your absolutely right about it being almost exactly like your bad boy. I have a Seymour Duncan 805 overdrive and a bbe sonic maximizer pedal in the loop for just a tad more thump...you videos always justify paying 800$ for this thing when there's so many killer amps for that price....prs mt15 is one for sure. I bought my amp1 based on your video of the first time you played thru it and was blown away. I was sold. Then you were with Thomas doing a demo with him which was incredible....love your playing man, I love zakk wilde too and he also inspired my style...he's killing it with Phil now with the Pantera reunion

Great freaking amp! I had a 1982 2204 that had super low plate voltage for a Marshall at about 380v and it was just the sweetest Marshall I ever played. I was dumb enough to sell it, but when you are young and poor...you do what you have to!

After listening to thousands of guitar gear/review channels across youtube for years, the mojo in that 1984 JCM800 is incredible. I wonder if a Quad Cortex or Kemper can bottle up some of that mojo and you can probably make a nice side revenue stream. I know I would easily pay for them. You have a very special amp there Euge! Just personal preferences. In general horizontal ones are a bit more aggressive and that’s what I like 💪.

I have a 1984 JCM 800 50 watt combo that has the original two Celestion G12T-75 speakers that is my favorite amp I own. The reason is, and it’s one that’s not really talked about with this model amp, it’s versatility. Yes, we all know about the JCM 800 distortion, but because it’s a 50 watt amp with two 75 watt speakers it has the most beautiful sparkling tone at high volumes (headroom) on the clean channel. I actually stopped using my Fender Super Reverb because I can get as good a clean tone with my Marshall, but I can’t get the distortion from the Fender without having to tote a pedalboard around.

Great video, I too am a JCM800 fan. I have a 2004 2203X that I had the (Jose) mod done from Voodoo Amps and changed out the tubes to KT-88s. I call mine "The Monster"!!! Peace...

those mods are killer wanted that exact thing back in the day so much. I'm sure it's insane. that demo of it they did where he was playing jake E Lee riffs was insane.
I found my Marshall JCM800 4010 combo was running hot too, and my Carvin X-50B head. I ended up swapping the El34 tubes out for 6L6GC with a slightly cooler bias and the tubes last year's instead of a year lol. When I was running Groove Tubes El34 I was replacing them every 6 months and twice the price. I've been running Mesa Boogie 6L6GC for over 20 years now and no problems. Just my 2 cents. The Beast sounds killer, you play killer. I have a 77 JMP 2204 lower voltage transformer but I love it. I have tweaked mine to get more preamp voltages. I bet your problems with the pre amp gain and volume could be fixed properly without changing the overall mojo and sound. I would have it looked at just to see what is really happening with it then make a decision on fixing it. But that is just the OCD in me LOL. Rock On brotha !!!

I've got an '85 2204 (50w) myself. It's bad ass. I use an EH Metal Muff Nano in front for more dirt and to temper the volume. 1960BV cab with two V30's (bottom) and two G12H-30 Anni's (top). That song was awesome.
