I think blender is great on creating backgrounds using tbh on animations and blender for backgrounds with cameras is my way of work thanks for the video

@Mchawder We're glad you liked it! And yeah, Blender is definitely amazing for creating backgrounds and working with cameras. Sounds like you’ve got a great workflow going! Do you mostly use it for backgrounds, or do you dive into animations with it, too?

Animating is all about estimated time to finish.
Im an animator working in animation industry. I had used animate, tbh and blender. I honestly can say blender is cool only on the sculpt tool.
The rest are pain in the ass. U are making fully traditional with extra steps. (Character animation)
Tbh is the number 1 choice
Flash is very good for light projects and have a symbol feature.

Thanks for sharing your experience-it’s always great to hear from professionals in the industry! You make a valid point about time efficiency being critical in animation, and traditional 2D workflows can feel more streamlined in software like Adobe Animate or Toon Boom Harmony due to features like symbols and simplified character rigging.
That said, Blender’s Grease Pencil stands out because it combines traditional 2D animation with the flexibility of 3D tools, opening up creative possibilities that other software doesn’t easily offer. It’s true that Blender has a steeper learning curve and its workflows, which can seem more labor-intensive compared to other 2d animation tools. However, recent updates, like the improvements in Grease Pencil 3, have been addressing these issues to make it more user-friendly and efficient.
While Blender may not replace tools like Flash or Harmony for certain workflows, it’s an excellent option for artists who want to explore hybrid 2D/3D projects without the cost of traditional software. It’s all about what suits your workflow and creative goals. Out of curiosity, what improvements do you think would make Blender more competitive for 2D character animation?

@pixelplaygroundofficial If you're completely new to Blender, I’d recommend starting with a beginner-friendly course to understand the interface and basic functionality. Blender Guru’s Donut Tutorial Series is an excellent starting point. It’s engaging and covers essential skills like navigation, modelling, and rendering. You can find the updated version here: ☞ ua-cam.com/play/PLjEaoINr3zgEPv5y--4MKpciLaoQYZB1Z.html&si=ny5n92DAxys5kqHZ&list=PL__9ULG1sJ-GNDlVzXtsI6DtcO6LYDNJA&index=5
Once you’re comfortable with Blender basics, dive into learning Grease Pencil for 2D animation. Here are is great tutorials series for beginners:
DRAW! A Free Introduction to Blender's Grease Pencil by CG Cookie: A beginner-friendly course that walks you through the fundamentals of Grease Pencil. ☞ ua-cam.com/play/PL3GeP3YLZn5gDcWgj-FMW2PmAZN0Ixujh.html&si=a6f9EyscWE3LlKCD&list=PL__9ULG1sJ-GNDlVzXtsI6DtcO6LYDNJA&index=5
Then, after that, you will be able to try the Magic Storybook course ☞ academy.cgboost.com/p/master-grease-pencil-in-blender/?affcode=206256_dd95_e5p
These resources will help you build a solid foundation in Blender and get started with 2D animation using Grease Pencil.
And let us know if this helped or if would like to see a video that covers exactly the steps and insights on How to Learn Blender or Grease Pencil Like a Pro in 2025 in a next video, lets know 🤷‍♂️
Anyways, happy creating and good luck! 😊
