    thank you for the tuto bergen !
    - alternatively to your 'slice' action .. you also can use the 'split ring' function on selected center polys ..
    - and you can use the 'thicken' -> segments option (in this case 3 segments)
    then you simply move the 'inner' edge loops with 'edge edit' into the right position ..

      Tried to send this response before, but it must have failed. Anyway, thanks for the Split Ring tip. I went back and tried that with the confidence that it would work. I found the trick was to choose all the polygons around the loop except for the triangles. Then hitting Split Ring created the edge loop. Excellent!
