    Hey dude, just wanted to say I've checked out a bunch of your videos and they're always really insightful!
    Also I appreciate the fact that you kept your frustrations in. I know the feeling well man! it can be so annoying when you start recording and everything starts fucking up an going against you. But you kept going.
    Keep at it man and I'm sure many more people will be tuning in to your content 👍🏼

      @@Tylerbag Hey man. I really appreciate the comment. It's good to know that good people like yourself appreciate some good informative knowledge. And yes I had years of my DI's just sounding like absolute shit. After I studied this stuff deeply I started to understand it. It's all about the source tones. And just developing the hearing. I'm a strong believer everyone has the ability to shine in these art forms. Just needs some sleepless nights and and a few crying sessions 😂😂. Thank you again 🙏

      @@REMAI_music awesome to hear. I have stopped using drum libraries. They can be good for some situations however I found better ways to design drums

      @@MetalMixdownStudios Oh interesting, what do you exactly mean? Like making your own cymbals / toms also? With different velocity layers? Or just recording your own drumlibs. I often layer a lot with these drumlibs to make them my way.

      @REMAI_music
      so I'll use a library for cymbals. And then yes I'll have dynamic velocities. And the cymbals won't be 100 percent snapped to the grid. This makes a big difference in sounding more human like. Then I build the shells using only samples. This takes a lot of practise to get the sound right. Or the sound I want. And also a lot of transient shaping.

      @@MetalMixdownStudios Nice man, sort of Frankensteining! Love it. When I make electronic music i layer my own kick/snares but with rock/metal I only dare to layer the sample underneath the kick / snare to still have a bit of natural "random" sound, but lately I'm liking the more "fake" 100% velocitiy sound like Plot In You / BMTH etc. Is that what you are aiming for also?

    • @MetalMixdownStudios
      @MetalMixdownStudios  9 днів тому +1

      @REMAI_music well the way I see it, is that these libraries are designed by other engineers. Their thought process and desired sound. Then I ask myself, "where is my sound" in all of this. And I'm of the opinion that designing the drums from samples will make me a way more experienced engineer. Also these libraries are often times way too mix ready. And for me they back me into a corner. And that's a predi cool approach for electronic music.
      Hmm I'm not necessarily chasing anything from modern productions I hear. I have a specific way I want a snare to sound and lately I've been chasing what I hear in my head but at the same time Influenced by engineers like Joseph McQueen.
      And also what I figured out is that the entire mix is really determined by the way the drums sound. Especially the snare. Listen to Burry Tomorrow, death ever colder. Listen to the drums in that song. That's mixed by Joseph McQueen. One of the best drum sounds I've heard

      Great vid! To save you some frustration: To disable the Snap layouts menu from the top of the screen on Windows 11, use these steps:
      - Open Settings > System > Multitasking settings.
      - Expand the “Snap windows” setting.
      - Uncheck the “Show snap layouts when I drag a window to the top of my screen” option which disables the visibility of the Snap layout menu at the top of the screen.
      Hope that helps! Going to check out more of your vids after this!
