    Hello mate , great video
    I loved the sounds of the Korg T series and owned a T1 at the end of the 80’s.
    Fast forward and I just bought a T3, in excellent condition BUT for the life of me I cannot get any sound from any of the 4 analog outputs !!
    The headphone jack is ok but nothing from the outputs .
    I remember being able to assign the sounds to any of the 4 outputs but I cannot remember how I did it .
    On the Editi combi page I thought I had it .
    Pan assign at the bottom via the ‘panpot’ icon … alas not a peep !
    Any ideas very gratefully excepted
    Many thank
    Chris Hewson ❤

      Hi @chrishewson5669
      I answered this question via the website, but I am reproducing it here for others to see.
      I saw your message. Do you get any sound off the phones output? Basically unless someone has turned all the audio down on every patch I'd expect you to get some audio.
      Have you tried a factory reset. This will reset the keyboard and all the core audio settings? If you haven't got the factory disk I sell them for £6 plus postage to where ever you are in the world. Others sell these also.
      If neither of these two routes work then you have a problem either with the audio generation or amplification. This could be as simple as dry joints. These boards are 30 years old now. And when I fixed mine I re-flowed numerous joints that showed signs of dry joints.
      Hope this gives you some pointers. Jon

    I found the user interface on my Korg T3EX very easy to use compared to the rather archaic user interfaces in competing Roland and Yamaha instruments at the time. The D70 and SY77 were both much more difficult to easily get around despite the fact that they had more buttons and sliders on their front panels. Ensoniq and Kurzweil also both had much better user interfaces IMHO.

      Hi @Mad Ness
      All the manufacturers had their quirks in terms of how they structured the menu’s on the workstation keyboards. If you got use to one of them then swapping to another was always a bit of a learning curve. But thanks for the comment. Jon

    Hello, I recently purchased a T1 from Craigslist here in the US. It was a steal, $250. I'm using your channel to fix a few of the items that need work. Your videos on switches, battery, and display replacement are very good and each of these need doing on my unit. I have one additional item that needs some help as well. I have a middle G key that is weak and needs repair, it works most of the time, but is a bit intermittent. I wonder if you might assist with a method to disassemble the keyboard and clean/repair the sensor. I have reviewed other info on UA-cam from other brands/models and it appears that this key sensor might be dusty. What do you think? Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Thank you again for the videos on the T1, they're very helpful. 😎

      Hi @Kyle Quinn
      Thanks for the feedback on the Korg T1 videos that have been filmed so far.
      I am afraid that I haven't had to do a repair on the keyboard of a Korg T1 and therefore do not have a video to share with you. However the keyboard is relatively easy to remove from the chassis to work on.
      It is bolted to the base board with screws accessed from the underside. If the keyboard is in front of you and you know the screws that you had to remove to allow the front to flip up, then the screws for the keyboard are in-front of these.
      Carefully removed all the ribbon and other connectors between the keyboard and the circuit boards. This will probably require you to removed the circuit boards as they are mouthed connector down.
      Once the keyboard is out you can start to disassemble. I think that the keyboard is a circuit board with a contact strip and I suspect that unless the circuit board has been damaged dirt has got between the contacts. At this point I think that that is as much help as I can provide. If you have specifics you can DM directly through instagram and Facebook with them. Jon

    Your videos hav been instrumental to getting my T1 to work, thank you.
    However. I'm wondering if I can ask a question here.
    It seems to be crashing my computer when using a DAW and the T1 as the main MIDI controller.
    I'm wondering if it can be due to the clock source being set to internal?
    The problem is, I cannot set it to external.
    I set it to external in the global menu, but when restarting it resets to internal after it starts up again.
    All the other settings such as midi channel etc is however saved.
    I have not found any info on this when searching the interwebs.
    Hoping someone has any input
    All the best

      @TheMusicTechGuyUK  Рік тому +2

      Hi @CRLFNKL
      Thank you for the feedback on the videos.
      I can’t understand why the Korg T1 would crash your DAW. MIDI is a very simple protocol and that is all the Korg T1 pushes out. I suspect the issue is related to your MIDI to USB interface not handling the signal conversion correctly. I’d check the settings on the interface.
      To be honest unless you are running a sequencer from the Korg T1 the clock being internal or external should be irrelevant. If the DAW is set to internal then it will use the computer’s clock irrespective of whether it receives a timecode from a MIDI’d instrument. Basically the protocol ignores other clock sources unless it set to external. Then it looks to the clock on the instrument immediately preceding it. You have to be careful when operating mergers not to have two competing clock signals being merged.
      It terms of setting MIDI on the Korg T1, while there is a global receive channel, you actually set the receive channels on the program and COMBI that has been selected.
      To send MIDI this is as you correctly surmise set in the Global setting and will by default be set to channel 1.
      I am not in front of my T1 writing this response so this next comment might not be correct. But if you set up a split in a COMBI then you should be able to send the MIDI from the split points on different channels. But it is a long time since I have set my T1 up in this way. I tend to play it into the DAW or sequencer and let the target device manage the separation. Far far easier! Jon

    Daca vreti sa mi spuneti .Pentru a lucra in midi cu T1 trebuie sa intru in meniu ca sa programez midi ? Sau merge atunci cand cuplez cablul midi ? Thanks

    • @TheMusicTechGuyUK
      @TheMusicTechGuyUK  Рік тому +1

      Hi @Ioan
      The question is what are you trying to do. The Korg T1, should if still in factory be set up, when connected to a MIDI source I.e. a sequencer, DAW or MIDI controller receive for the current program on Channel 1. Combi’s will typically set all layers to channel 1 also.
      If you go into the combi menu you can set individual layers to respond to different channels depending on how you are working with this workstation.
      If you have a program selected then again going into the MIDI will allow you to set this program to respond on a different channel than the default 1.
      I hope that this makes sense and does not get lost in translation from English to Romanian. Jon

    I have a T1 and want to move about 10 sounds to my Kronos…. Is that possible, or will l need to sample?

    • @TheMusicTechGuyUK
      @TheMusicTechGuyUK  Місяць тому +1

      Hi @keyss2005
      Sorry for the delay in responding. I have been thinking about your comment and have to be honest I haven't moved sounds from my Korg T1 to the KORG KRONOS.
      My initial thoughts on this were to try and use PGC tools which I know can read SYSEX files from the Korg T1. But having a look at the program functions I realised that you can only copy files between compatible workstations e.g. between the M and T series. But not from the T Series to the Korg Kronos.
      So unless someone can put me right I think that the only way to do this would be to sample the T1 directly into the Kronos and create the patch that way. Jon
