- For the past couple of weeks I've been testing the Athena primes with the DJI Ronin 4D, along with. the NiSi PL adapter and I absolutely love the workflow! In this video I cover my thoughts on them and how and if they will be changing my workflow as a filmmaker.
This video was shot on the Ronin 4D, Sony FX3 and the Leica Q3.

Dude, this video was so good. It's one of the best I've seen on the 4D.
Thanks man! Really appreciate that! ☺️
Absolutely a good value for optical quality, size and cost. Thank you for the content.
You have some amazingly beautiful shots, well done dude!
I certainly don’t care about video lenses but watched from start to finish - you’re legend!
Thank you bro ❤️
Boom!! Love this man
bro this work is fireeee
Awesome stuff man, you got my follow. Im a commercial DP and I have also been eying the 4D and Athena primes. Love the work! PS: sorry to hear about the chemo, keep fighting dude!
Thanks man! Appreciate it! Will definitely be working with the 4D full time when I get back! 👊🏻
Amazing stuff 🙌 I have been 👀 those lenses, you made the smart choice with the PL mount 👌
Thanks! Yeah I’m really stoked about these!
@@davidgodi Hi:)
super content!
does the PL adapter change the quality of video shooting or is it a myth?
@@ГригорийРадянскийit does not affect the image in any way, just another way to mount the lens 😄
Would love to see more BTS of you using the ronin 4D. Been thinking of picking one up for myself
Will definitely be posting more bts with the 4D as its my main workhorse! 😊
Ooh nice !! Have 4D8k, I need to buy PL mount right ? Pl mount from DJI is ok for nisi ? I will check all your videos thx mate ! 😊
Hey man so i love my Ronin 4D 8K and really appreciate your content! I have a lower budget commercial job coming up and in your opinion do you think the Nisi Athenas are suitable enough for commercial work ? Ive used them on an Alexa Mini LF but never on my 4D 8k ... Also in your test footage at the beginning was that using the Nisi Athenas on the 4D? Also were you using any pro mist on those shots? Would love to see more of your footage with this camera lens combo! Thanks!
I came around to this camera as well. What is the balancing like with these lenses, are they within the weight bracket? Good close focus?
Great video kept me watching
Glad you enjoyed 😊
How's the AF with the Athena's and the LiDar? Is it usable or do you use manual focus?
Thank you for sharing my friend, a big Hello from Atlanta GA. cheers !
Thanks!
I own the same setup, But I will use the Nisi for the first time this weekend, and planning to get the 8k Sensor in a few days, great video my friend 🙏👍🏼
Nice man! Thats a killer setup with the 8K!
Great video!
Thanks! 😊
Damn, Iceland and Ronin 4D is like my dream combo to shoot :D
It really is a good combo!
@@davidgodi bought a Ronin 4D 8K a few months ago and just came back from Iceland with it
Dream fulfilled 😌
@@MaxRovenskythats so sick man!
beautiful work bro
Thank you so much!
Great video! It is to the point and has excellent information. Question for you - what Ronin D4 do you have? Based on your experience, what would you recommend about it?
Thank you so much! I have the 6K version, it works for most of the stuff I do, I rarely shoot in framerates higher than 60fps and 6K is plenty of resolution for most things! Also way cheaper 😂
Thanks for the review! Could you tell which of them do you like more? I tend to order 14 and 35 for now.
I’m a really big fan of the 85mm right now, definitely my favorite! But If I had to choose 2 I would choose the 35 and 85. 14mm would be the 3rd choice for me! 😊
@@davidgodi Thank you!
@@davidgodi Hey David! I have finally bought 35 and 14. Didn't expect 14 to vignette such a lot. It does also have some barrel distortion. Just wanted to ask if your copy has any. Hope mine isn't just a bad copy.
Amazing!
🔥🤝
I’m looking to get 40mm with PL mount but when I go to B&H but they have it under ARRI PL. is there a difference between ARRI PL then a PL?
No difference! ☺️
Arri invented PL, they also now have LPL for high end cameras.
Hey thanks for this recently got a 4d 6k and looking to invest in some good cine glass for long term.
Do you use pro res raw?
Have you got any videos on grading D-log?
Awesome man! Yes, sometimes I use it, but only if I need that extra flexibilty in post ☺️
I love my NiSi set, and since I’m comfortable doing color work, the sharpness and clarity isn’t a problem to pull back when necessary. As my standard package I would rather have a detailed image in camera which I can soften and stretch later. The quality is great so far. My only “complaint” is not having the 18mm in time to finish my current project. There’s a shot where 14mm is too wide and I don’t have the working distance to pull back for the 25mm, so I will be using another brand. But I have the new set of three on preorder for when they release in July. I think it’s hard to go wrong with them unless you need to deliver a vintage feel for quick turn around without much post work, but there’s many vintage lens sets on sites like ShareGrid that aren’t expensive to rent when needed.
Good point! Love the set!
i want to start with a set of two lens what is the most optimiza choice to go with 35/50 ?
That or a 35/85 ☺️
What ever suits the mood you are after. Deakins shot his oner on a 40
I have the rf 15 -35 2.8, rf 85 1.2 ds, and rf28-70 2. I can only get two lenses next month. Which to get? I was thinking the 25mm and 50 because i have the c70 and r5c
I really want to make my work flow easier with cine lenses due to the focus breathing from the RF. But I am on a budget lol
@@noranoskyle4417 think about the 40mm if you are still considering. It feels like a wider 50, and audiences love it on the big screen.
