    From what I know, Nisi made the F3 Prime, which was actually the Mavo OEM lenses. Very glad that they brought the experience from those into the Athena.

    Wow this is amazing.. I’m currently working with the bmpcc 6k g2 , what is the name of the adapter you have in this video connected to your ursa g2 ?

    That micro contrast is very evident in the side by side , which personally id rather have and bring back in lighting . Bonkers value after looking at the zeiss nanos which are full of CA

    Any idea what the best PL to EF adaptor is for these?

    Awesome video! Not sure what mount option to go with yet though. Based on the following criteria what is the smartest choice when considering RF/PL with adapter? Komodo X (native RF mount) but I would like to pair it with a focal reducer. Is that even option no matter what mounting option I go with? Thank you for such a great review!

      @OBP_  4 місяці тому +3

      Tricky one when it comes to the focal reducer, my gut feeling would still go with the PL kit, the lenses can easily outlive the Komodo, and you never know which camera or brand you'll be using next. I'm sure you didn't expect to be shooting on a Red camera 5 or 10 years ago, so who knows what you will be using in 5 or 10 years from now? I would just play it safe with your investment.

      The Nisi can't work with a focal reducer/speedbooster due to the rare protruding element. Quite unfortunate

  • @frankfeng2701
    @frankfeng2701 3 місяці тому +4

    You forgot to mention the one major flaw of the Nisi set, which is the rear protruding element during focus adjustment that'll prevent you from mounting the lens on speedbooster or most filter adapters, making it less useful on mirrorless and/or super35 bodies than the Vespid.

    • @CampandCaravanning
      @CampandCaravanning 3 місяці тому +1

      The protruding element is only on the PL mount. That's why I went for the E mount without the drop in filters to work across our Ronin 4d and Sony A7 bodies. There's usually some compromise I'm happy to sell them if I ever need another mount option.

    I have PL mount Vespid primes which L to PL adapter do you recommend for BMCC 6k ? Heard lot of negative comments about PL adaptation with lot of play not tight fit etc etc

      I've been using the sigma one, it's pretty solid and has an internal small screw to lock in if ya wanted to (although I never use it) it's more expensive than most but I got it 2nd hand for half the price 👌🏼

    Bro these look so good, I just need to sort a good pl adapter I know that rear lens has compatibility problems with some, to go between sony and komodo.

      Those that don't have a back filter system should be good, like the Metabone, but not the Poco Mofage. Nisi also made their own PL to anything adapter mount.

    • @RandomRoyden
      @RandomRoyden 4 місяці тому

      @LoremIpsumProd yes, it was the mofage poco I was looking at specifically though, because for the extra £50 I can get the E mount to swap out and use between both my ecosystems.
      I know they are aware, hopefully something can be done.

      @LoremIpsumProd 4 місяці тому

      @@RandomRoyden you can can actually use the 25 with it, check with CVP video. Best bet though, grab those without the back filter. With their design it's a sacrifice that they made and nothing gonna fix that.
      I was so sad when the mofage did not fit, but a PL adapter with back filter will always be useful in one way or the other.

      That's where I was at, TBF the Vespids are extremely good lenses for the price, cnt go wrong with either 👌🏼

    • @alzibaba
      @alzibaba 4 місяці тому +1

      I have a set of Vespids and recently got the 14mm Athena for the extra wide angle. The Athena has less CA and is a little sharper, but...I prefer the Vespid's highlight roll off on skin tones, and the bokeh. If you're shooting on a 4k sensor at high frame rates, apparently the difference in sharpness is more noticeable, but I've tested this on my Z Cam E2 F6 and haven't really noticed a major difference. It's more the reduced CA on the Athenas that I notice - which for some clients is what they want. I'll likely get the 35 and 85 Athenas to cover my main bases. Either set will be great, but I wouldn't sell my Vespids to switch ;-)
      PS the Tilta mirage 95mm filter tray with clamp on adapter works without vignetting on the 14mm Athena, if you want to protect that gorgeous glass.

    • @alzibaba
      @alzibaba 4 місяці тому +4

      That's just one of the ways we speak up north in England ;-) What's amazing is how accents change very significantly even from town to town here. I'm from about 40 miles from him, but we use a load of old English like thee and thou, cut vowel sounds much shorter and use a load of dialect - you would think you're in a different country. Gary's accent is a relative breeze in comparison. I love how the auto subtitles choose Fuja for Fuji, and ARRE for ARRI haha. Think of us as we try to decipher accents from the other side of the Atlantic ;-)
