  • Street Photography of SoHo, Brooklyn Bridge and outside of Penn Station with the Sony a6700 and the Sigma 18-50mm DC DC F2.8 APSC lens.
POV footage with the GoPro Hero 11
My first time using the GoPro with a chest mount. Regretted not recording for the whole trip. See more of the photos that weren't recorded in video on Instagram at viewpoint_variable.

Hello! As a casual photographer who started about 2 years ago, i want to upgrade from my Canon EOS 250D. Since i travel a lot, how much do you recommend this camera and lens?

Hey @andreamusi first I would ask, what is your motivation for upgrading your camera body?
Are there certain features that you want that your current camera does not have? Is the lack of those features preventing you from capturing content you want? Is the size of the camera making you second guess if you want to bring it with you when you go out and about?
If you are looking for a smaller and more compact package for travel I think it is very hard to beat the Sony A6000 line of cameras.
I started out with the A6000 which is still a fantastic camera for stills photography and is extremely portable. I wanted to get into videography so I upgraded to the A6700. It also has an In Body Stabilization System and improved autofocus that made it possible for me to get pictures in low light and of fast moving objects I had a hard time getting with the A6000. It was also a plus that it has an articulating screen because I love taking low to the ground vertical pictures which are possible to capture without a flip out screen but I didn't nail my composition enough times for me to want one.
You can notice the size difference between the A6000 and the A6700 though so there is a trade off. However the A6700 is still very portable for travel and vacations.
If you think it would be nice to have the ability to shoot 4k video but are primarily interested in pure still photography, check out the A6400. The price has come down a lot and it has really good autofocus.
I'd have a hard time convincing myself to buy the A6700 if I had no interest in videography. But I am so thankful that I got a camera I will be able to grow into.
For a travel camera, if you have the budget and want to get into video editing, the A6700 is awesome. If you just want a better performing, travel camera for photos, check out the A6400.
You are clearly doing your research which is awesome. I can't recommend enough watching youtube comparison videos of all brands and models to see what resonates most with you. If you don't get excited about the camera you finally choose to buy, you won't put in the time to learn how to use it to the best of its abilities.
Finally, the Sigma 18-50mm is the GOAT do it all travel lens for Sony APSC cameras. Love it. Highly recommend it.
Let me know if you have any questions.
