This is the exact setup I have and it works great, hopefully they will make a f2.8 50mm+ lens to finish the lineup of 10-18 18-50 (if the would make a 20-200 f2.8-4.0 or a 18-300 -3.5-6.3 to compete with tamron in a smaller form factor (like the 18-50 vs 17-70) that would be a big bonus)
I bought the Sigma 18-50 together with my ZV-E10 last year, but although I was impressed by the Sigma's optical quality, I couldn't really enjoy this lens because the complete lack of stabilization was pretty frustrating. I do a lot of lowlight photography as well as handheld filming for street videography (And I absolutely hate gimbals) - both things that don't really work completely unstabilized. But now that I also have an a6700, I absolutely LOVE the Sigma as my everyday multi purpose lens on the a6700 - for my usecase, IBIS really is a game changer and finally allows me to fully unleash the Sigma's potential. For my ZV-E10, though, my main everyday lens now is the Sony 35mm f/1.8 OSS for its pretty efficient in lens-stabilization.
When you first hear of the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 and the Sony a6700, did your heart rate increase. Mine did. Somehow I knew these two were going to be special, and they are. I took this combo with my wife and grandson to the Cabazon Dinasaur park and got great photos. Having a wide angle to normal zoom was unbeatable. Got fabulous photo that were sharp. Even when grandkid was running towards me, the a6700 maintained perfect focus. You don't need a FF camera to take great travel photos as the a6700 with the Sigma zoom is more than up to the job. I’ve got a a7s iii with the sigma 24-70mm 2.8 ART lens. Mainly for filming VFX plates - I love that 8ms readout speed. But 12MP isn’t a ton of resolution for capturing photo textures. It’s great for most applications but I can’t snag large patches like roads or walls to use up close in 3D software.

Hello Mark..you are such a good photographer. I think you should make some videos on photography lessons for beginners like us. That will be very great and useful for us..
Great video Mark, and I enjoyed being a fly on the wall (chest) while you were taking pictures. Tempting to get this lens but have to give preio to other stuff right now. Cheers!
Thanks for the video. I own this body and lens combo and also enjoy having the Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8 to pair with it. Still debating if I will keep it since I own a lot of Sony full frame bodies including their A7CII and A7CR compact full frame bodies. This combo is small and versatile though so will see.
I'm in the market for a kit lens replacement and I really want the Sigma 18-50 because of the size of it but I have an a6400, so no stabilisation. So I'm gonna get the Tamron 17-70 and just put up with that extra size and weight. At least I get the extra focal range with it which should be useful, I just hope the size of it doesn't cause me to leave the lens in my bag! I have a Sony 70-350 so the Tamron should perfectly compliment that but that's also a huge lens and isn't fun to carry around on the camera for any longer than like 30 minutes... The Tamron is only 100g or so lighter than that :/
Hi, I currently use the Sony 10mm on my a6700 for real estate and sometimes for full-body portraits/events. While I also have a Sigma 30mm for portraits, I’ve found it too tight for full-body shots. I ended up using the 10mm for portraits, which worked well, but I once missed a key moment because the 10mm was too wide, and I couldn’t swap lenses in time. I love the 10mm for its wide-angle versatility in both portraits and real estate, so I’m definitely keeping it. However, I’m considering selling the 30mm to get the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8, as it would give me more flexibility for portraits without missing moments. Sharpness isn’t an issue with the 18-50mm, and since I use flash, low light won’t be a problem. So what do you think?
Thank you for taking us on your Fotwalk. Since I was the first to buy a ZV-E10 and it doesn't have IBIS, I bought the larger Tamron 17-70 with VC. Buying a Sigma specifically for my a6700 doesn't make much sense. Edit: There's a nice recent comparison of these two lenses on Dustin Abbott's UA-cam channel.
Would love this Sigma 18-50 or the Tamron 17-70mm on the Sony A74 in Crop mode. Also would love either lens on the Panasonic S5 Mark ii x and Panasonic S1H
I was curios as to why some of the shutter speed where chosen on the shoot, glad stuck about to the end to hear it was mostly done in apature mode lol. I'm really struggling with getting my head around shutter speed
This was great, Mark! Have you noticed that in low light in aperture priority mode the camera maxes out ISO even when lowering the exposure compensation? My intuition is that it should decrease ISO first, instead of increasing SS for a lower exposure. Do you have any idea why that is?
Enjoyable POV w/commentary and settings reveal. I have the lens/cam combo as my standard go-to gear for local events - fits my ergonomic preferences also. Do you use back button focus? Interesting color grading - skies from blue to blue-green or grey. How you color grade would make a welcome vid, IMO.
the dji action cam makes blue skies a little more blue than they are, but I was also feeling like a more gritty, blue-green or stormy look fit the pics nicely
Your pictures are so much better than mine, how do you edit the pictures? Do you have any profiles that you apply to your pictures or do you edit each picture individually?
I wondered this too, especially the pictures that look black and white or sepia ... if he prefers to grade those after the fact or use in camera settings. I imagine the camera walk is faster to grade in post, but dunno. I wonder which looks better too. In camera settings or post processing?
I shoot everything in raw and in colour in the standard profile. I pick which photos I like and then I grade in post each photo individually. I usually just hit auto in Lightroom and then grade myself after or choose one of the Lightroom presets and then tweak that.
Hey man , love your videos ! I just got my first camera , I got the a6700 with the sigma 18-50 and I wanted to ask if you can make a settings video? Thx man
Great Video Mark, Thank you for explaining to us what's going on around you. Can you make a video explaining Drive mode (BRKC, BRKS, BRKDRO). I tested BRKC and BRKDRO(high). I liked BRK(DRO) as compared to others after merging the 3 photos of the same instance. Would be better if you could explain what is getting changed in each mode with examples and which mode will be better for which condition.
What I do not like about A6700 that sensor has AA filter, which makes images quite soft. For example if you take a picture of a subject more than 20 feet away and zoom in on an eye during the post, eyes are not as clear as I would like them to be. Comparing it to A7IV it is a very noticeable difference. But I still thinking about getting it to compliment the only APS-C lens I have Sigma 18-50mm just for the reason that I have this lens and have no body for it. :) Also, after my recent trip to London and spending 14 hours a day walking with A7IV and Sony 20-70mm F4 lens, I am thinking to make a lighter package for my travels.
Yet another video, making me want a lens I don't "need"! Lol have a tamron 18-200mm, the smaller and lighter brother to the 18-300, as my travel lens and I've been perfectly content, but I've debated getting the 18-50. Maybe one day. Curious, what gopro you use for your walks?
With the original sony kit lens:- Sony E PZ 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Lens (Black) Sony E 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3 OSS Lens How good are those lens for low light ? Ofc am coming from a 1" sensor camera at 2.8 apt which kinda sux at low light... Will i see big improvement ?
I will be doing that lens in a photo/walk and review soon - it's SO good. Many people think it's the perfect street lens - should put them head to head!
Yeah you should compare them, but as someone who originally bought the 17-70 then got the 18-50 instead. The reason? 1)because it’s lighter 290g vs 525g and you can really feel it in the front(and around the neck). 2)it’s smaller I can fit more gear in my (very small) camera bag/cube. 3) the price (when I got them $500 vs $800) witch I used for other items 4) the auto focus/af distance, not at the macro level(at macro level it’s better too but I rarely use it)but when taking 30-50mm photos at a close range it will have af compared to having to switch to mf (and lose the shot or get people annoyed for waiting) and in general it’s better at knowing what to focus on(especially since the a6700 doesn’t have a joy stick) etc… Edit: it looks better in my opinion, and to the average person it looks more like a small tourist or side gig camera than a professional one with the 17-70 (more than one person told me when they saw the 18-50 (for the first time after the 17-70) ‘oh so this is your light camera?’ or ‘this is your B camera?’ with just switching the lens)😂 Witch is what I’m looking for, some people will want a more professional looking setup.
I bought the Sigma, then the Tamron (which I sold as too big and heavy) then settled on the Sony 16-55. Just had to scratch that itch and try all three. I will say that whichever one you settle on it will be excellent. @@Hi-how-are-you-today.

6:45 is perfect 🤩
Perfect lens
I enjoy the photo walk videos a lot. My favorite combo for this is my A7iv with my tamron 28-75 f2.8 but I’m really wanting to give the a6700 a try.
I have the A7iv with the 28-75 myself!!
Keep it up Mark! Good job
Thanks, will do!
Should I buy this lens or the Sony E 16-55mm f/2.8 G ? I‘m not on a budget so I could afford the sony one.
both great - but if the sony is at a good pice, it has more range so that would give you more flexibility
If you can afford it go for it a Sony lens especially a G is going to be better than anything else.
I like it .. thanks for the trip round town I enjoyed that
Great video as usual,
Can you please make a video on how to expose for leeming luts on Zve-10 Hlg3.
I really enjoy this kind of content. Street action / Tech review and Photography Masterclass from the great @MarkBennettCameraCrisis.
Love from India, its nice to see a Indian guy there.
lots of people from India in Toronto. a big population here
I like these photo walk videos
Dear Mark,I really like your videos but in my opinion if you put the unedited photos and then edited version of it , it would be great 🌸🙏
Hey man , love your videos !
Would be better if you could explain what is getting changed in each mode with examples and which mode will be better for which condition.
yes - that’s a good idea for a video
I wonder if the Tamron 17-70 would be too conspicuous of a setup for street or travel photography. I prefer the slight increase of range on that lens.
My setup 😍. And i also want to add 10-18 f/2.8 sigma to this setup
Hey , Thank you for the video. Can you also tell us is this lens good for low night shots ?
Got a bit of Norm Macdonald humor mixed in. I like it!
make a video of how to shoot back light photo :)
Great work! Any suggestions on using the camera for interview in 24p… or is it not useable with heating problem..
turn internal temp to high. put on a tripod with the screen open and you should easily be able to do interviews
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis can it be connected to electric for long run time
Yet another video, making me want a lens I don't "need"! Lol have a tamron 18-200mm, the smaller and lighter brother to the 18-300, as my travel lens and I've been perfectly content, but I've debated getting the 18-50. Maybe one day.
Curious, what gopro you use for your walks?
I used the dji action 4 amzn.to/3I0Lkfq
What kind of post pro editing for that photos? Bcs thats so great. May u make the tutorial?
I will do some yes
Hey, nice video ! :D I just dont know why you using exp conpensation.. Just change shutter speed and you will get different ressault, right?
Yes, you certainly can, but sometimes I use auto ISO with aperture priority - so adjusting exposure comp keeps my workflow consistent.
Love from India bro❤
Love from nepal 🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵❤️
Great video, Mark❤. Are the pictures shown ooc? If yes, do you use a picture style or something else?
I edit my raw photos
What editing software and operating system are you using?
With the original sony kit lens:-
Sony E PZ 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Lens (Black)
Sony E 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3 OSS Lens
How good are those lens for low light ?
Ofc am coming from a 1" sensor camera at 2.8 apt which kinda sux at low light...
Will i see big improvement ?
those lenses will not be great in lowlight. look for a 2.8 I’m zooms for lowlight and a f1.4 in primes
Tamron 17mm-70mm 2.8?
I will be doing that lens in a photo/walk and review soon - it's SO good. Many people think it's the perfect street lens - should put them head to head!
Yeah you should compare them, but as someone who originally bought the 17-70 then got the 18-50 instead. The reason? 1)because it’s lighter 290g vs 525g and you can really feel it in the front(and around the neck). 2)it’s smaller I can fit more gear in my (very small) camera bag/cube. 3) the price (when I got them $500 vs $800) witch I used for other items 4) the auto focus/af distance, not at the macro level(at macro level it’s better too but I rarely use it)but when taking 30-50mm photos at a close range it will have af compared to having to switch to mf (and lose the shot or get people annoyed for waiting) and in general it’s better at knowing what to focus on(especially since the a6700 doesn’t have a joy stick) etc…
Edit: it looks better in my opinion, and to the average person it looks more like a small tourist or side gig camera than a professional one with the 17-70 (more than one person told me when they saw the 18-50 (for the first time after the 17-70) ‘oh so this is your light camera?’ or ‘this is your B camera?’ with just switching the lens)😂 Witch is what I’m looking for, some people will want a more professional looking setup.
I bought the Sigma, then the Tamron (which I sold as too big and heavy) then settled on the Sony 16-55. Just had to scratch that itch and try all three. I will say that whichever one you settle on it will be excellent.
@@Hi-how-are-you-today.
@@Sonic-Boom agreed I just wanted to put out my experience.
Does sigma also has the telephoto with this combination and the 10-18 f2.8?
no, not yet, but hopefully soon
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I see..okay2
