    Good info, thanks! I just bought this motor today from Amazon and it arrives in 2 days. Should be a nice step up from my 20yr old Minn Kota 28! 😁

      How's it been running for you? How many times has it been taken out. Thanks in advance.

    I like mine except no change in speed between 4 and 5 setting. On a 14 foot Bris inflatable with 35 amp hour deep cycle battery that is kept charged with a small solar panel (motor used for only about 15 minutes at a time). Waiting for instructions from NV about no change in 5th.

    what's the maximum ah battery you can use or have used? and how long did it last on speed 3? great little review this motor is catching my eye, well done.

      I use a 12v marine battery. I'm usually on the water 4-6hr with no issues. Not sure how to answer your speed question. If it's windy I'll use speed 1 or 2 to keep the boat steady rather than drop anchor. Other times I run it on 5. I reckon I've had my trolling motor nearly 7yrs.
      I just ordered a 62lb thrust and waiting for it to arrive any day now

    im going to get this motor for a 7x4 ft dinghy fiberglass. I would like to a say 3 or 4 hours run time at 50 percent speed.
    Any Idea on what battery you would use for 3 or 4 hours at 50% speed or what you use now and your run time?. I am look at Im thinking lipo4 battery.
    Thank you

      I currently use a Interstate Deep Cycle Marine Battery and it has done well for years. I've also used a Continental Deep Cycle Marine and this year I'm going to try a LIPO and see how it does.
      I've never run 50% ... Unless slow trolling lol. Battery lasts as long as I need and has never left me stranded (unless I forget to charge it lol)
      I've switched from a 55lb thrust to 62lb for my 16ft flat bottom. The 55 lasted probably 10yrs. Works on high and rvs in the water, out of the water all speeds work. Not worth tearing apart again... I'll just gift it to someone 🙂

    Can you rotate the propeller around to use this as a bow mounted trolling motor?

    • @skinners100honestreviews3
      @skinners100honestreviews3  2 місяці тому

      The shaft, handle and propeller are all one piece however it does rotate 360° but your power cable will wrap around the shaft...
      If you mounted it on the bow (if the bow has enough "lip" for the motor) you could run it in reverse the whole time, which wouldn't be a big deal, it has plenty of power.
      Also, the bow may sit too low for this to be practical. My bow has a platform so it would seem a little awkward .... I have the boat out today, I may took a look at this and see what I think

      @@skinners100honestreviews3 Thanks! I checked Newport Vessels website and they offer a guide on how to convert the trolling motor from a transom mount to a bow mount. Grabbed one to put on the front of my Pond Prowler.

    Very stupid question.... We just got one and are testing it, etc. Hit weeds...Pulled it in the boat (don't ask). Is there a kill switch or something we can buy since it is a "live" motor even in the boat? Yeah...Boyfriend turned it on - in the boat.
    That is why I said, "don't ask". ha ha
    Gotta speak to the masses! LOL

      I would think you could buy an inline kill switch that goes between the battery and the trolling motor positive cable ... Watch my video on the 62lb thrust trolling motor. It's the same one just the next step up and it has an inline fuse. I would a kill switch would be similar to that set up

    Do you have to charge the battery every time your done fishing for the day?

    • @skinners100honestreviews3
      @skinners100honestreviews3  Рік тому +3

      Depends on your battery and the speed you run the motor on. Typically, I keep my battery fully charged, It's not necessary every time you fish but it's a pain in the butt when battery dies and you're on the other side of the lake with only 1 paddle lol.

    Thanks for the demo. After setting the shaft depth, can it raise vertically up and down freely? The reason I'm asking is I want to make a pulley system to adjust motor depth manually from the front like this guy did starting around the 5:50 mark: ua-cam.com/video/qau2ndBYcEE/v-deo.html

    • @skinners100honestreviews3
      @skinners100honestreviews3  Місяць тому

      I don't think you you be able to without loosening the collar. However, if set the depth to the lowest it can go and leave the collar loose they yes, it would move freely.
