Hi Mel, I loved your tangent on the state of the economy and social distancing, came for a TV fitting video and got much more. You definitely keep it real LOL. Gave you a "Like" to help you feed your 2 cats.
Mel’s Van World I bought a 12v Cello TV which wasn’t cheap £250 😳 and it came with a bloody scart lead!! How old is that technology? I sent it back and bought a nice shiny Samsung smart TV with WiFi Internet freeview the works for £150 I can’t see the fascination with 12v TVs when decent inverters do work OK 👍🏼
Hi Mel, I use the same tv bracket in my van and found I had to tighten the screws and bolts on the bracket to FT. I also use a small 300w inverter that is very quiet and does the job nicely. I also use a similar magnetic aerial on the roof but I fitted a 12v signal booster and that made a huge difference to what I can get. Best wishes and stay safe.

Hi Mel, great work on the camper. There’s plenty of 12v TV’s on eBay for that kind of price and less. I purchased a 12v Ferguson tv with built in DVD for that money great piece of kit. The TV you have purchased will run at a lot less voltage so have a check.
Mel, I I had this aerial in my storage. Thought I'd just try it in the house before fitting to the van. Just to check it's working etc. The aerial is just amazing! I'm so used to pissing about with aerials from my youth when they were just terrible. This doesn't look much but fxxk is it good! Scuse use of the F word but it's merited. "Extremely good" doesn't quite cover it. I just plonked it on the side randomly and plugged it in (this is in the middle of a brick built house). Hey presto.... watching flawless terrestrial HDTV ;)
I bought exactly same TV pal, u can actually turn it into 12v , I did it to mine, you just need to solder a 12v cig plug to to connection in the back. When u open back there is a tiny square that says 12v and 2 pins. Solder pos and neg and hey presto 12v tv 👌
Hi Mel, great video. We where lucky as it turned out our little tv we got for the kids had a power brick converting it down to 12v so we could just use what we already had. We don’t really use an earlier though as we have a now tv box that runs off the net. It’s interesting about what you said with your revenue down, I heard someone say that companies are spending less per advert at the moment. It’s good to remember that if you watch someone’s channel, try and make it through the adverts as it helps them create content more in the future. Looking forward to more videos Mel, keep up the good work.
Lol love your channel mate..what a great postman you have..got to have that tv in there mate even if it’s only to watch dvds..nice job. The vans looking good.
Have a look at Cello TVs. They make various sizes of 12v telly, think some have DVD players. They're made in Co. Durham. Think they were originally made for Africa etc. and then they discovered a market in caravans and mobile homes. We have a wooden bungalow that is powered by solar and the telly works great. The other thing is they have their own battery as well and when it's charged you get up to six hours telly off that. They also come with a reading lamp that it powers, so all in all it should be quite useful. They start around £200.00, and of course you are not having to power the inverter as well...
I have one of those magnetic Ariel's on my van but it has 2 inline amplifiers built into the coax that are powered by USB, works a treat again around £6 off wish
Hi Mel,why did you use a 1500w inverter? The smaller ones don't have a fan .Some of the TV's use an external power supply that goes from 240volt to 12volt ,so you can just make a lead up,and run straight off 12volt.
Hi Mel, good to see you are still safe and well, I normally leave my post for 2/3 days after it’s been delivered and my best point to show why is that look at Boris, he sent us all a personal letter and licked each one, ⚠️that lay in quarantine for 10 days😂😂😂⚠️ Any ways you look after yourself and stay safe. The vans looking really homely👍 Cheers Ash 🏴
Mel we have a black aerial like your type, 6 squid off flea bay a fits bloody fabulous may be your house in the was just like ours but your not likely to park next to building's I'm sure it will ok unless it's a faulty one. Great tv installation mane me giggle Cheers Sean
You pay top dollar over there, I brought a 24" TV DVD for $160 Australian thats less than 90 quid. Don't sound good about lock down over there. Love the vlogs.
Hi Mel, I have an indoor aerial called a TV scout it's flat and I've stuck mine to the back of my TV, Which is in the middle of the house and no problems 😀🇬🇧🇬🇧
I'm not sure I could handle the noise of that inverter, but you could replace the internal fans with some decent silent ones. I've just done this with one of my appliances and fitted a noctua fan. A sick squid on your roof though?
If you want to stream on the TV, get yourself an amazon fire stick or roku stick....very compact and plugs into the HDMI port at the back(plus a mico usb charger thing to power it on). They go for around CA$49-75. A cheap setop streaming box will work too but will take more room for placement.(unless u can find a USB/HDMI stick style) Just a thought 😋 Of course you will need to hotspot from your smartphone
Hi Mel, why don’t you get one of those mains hookup kits for tents. Seen a few people use them in vans. No wiring involved just like a mains extension cable but protected by a circuit breaker. Get the 13amp adapter so you can use it at home too. Brilliant postie, wish ours was as nice as yours.
That’s what we did too. Worked great. I cut the cable giving me about 1m inside the van. Wired that to the back of the electric hook up socket for a van. Then put another connector on the cable left over which gave me my hookup cable. The U.K. plug adapter cost about £8 so all in cost me about £50. Simple and safe.
It’s the same style as yours but more expensive I think I paid about £30:00 a few years ago I use it on my old t4 only place I didn’t get a signal was in Tenby so won’t go there again
necvox I’ve got one, 👌 after buying cheepy that was useless 👎 Amazon or ebay . Make sure you put the Ariel on the actual roof not on any bars because it uses the roof to draw in the signal hope this helps 👍
