I'm Indonesian, I can say that the information is legit :) About a custom using right hand is considered more polite because we commonly use our left hand for toilet thing. Btw don't forget to visit Java Island too :) there are many tourist destinations along Java like Tumpak Sewu Waterfalls, Prambanan Temple, Borobudur Temple, etc. I do recommend you to search for information prior visiting the places. Well, have a nice holiday :)
Hello, I read that you need need an invitation from Bali Embassy before you can apply for visa from Nigeria, please can you recommend a legit agency to contact?
Been living in Bali for 3,5 years and finding this vid to be one of the most insightful and realistic guides I have seen in months. Well done fellow South Africans!
UPDATES: Covid vaccinations are no longer needed, and neither is the EHAC App!😊🙏🏻. Also, Travel Insurance is no longer mandatory but we've always suggested that you travel with it, especially to Bali: bit.ly/2NY6QrU
@Top Gadgets & Toys Yes, just in case. However, if your vaccination card is still not shows on the apps ( it takes quite sometime to get uploaded), don't forget to carry your vaccination card or online
Myself, being an expat who's been living in Bali for 3+ years. This video has to be the best I've come across.. You guys didn't just base everything in Canggu.. like everyone else... Great content!!!
Nusa Pernida is a great island, even for day trips. Go early and rent a decent bike on the island like an Nmax (so pay a bit more) because the roads are hairy and you'll want a better ride. Get to the spots before all the lazy late risers show up. Climb down to Kelingking Beach - it's beautiful and 90% of visitors don't even bother because they find it too hard. To go to Diamond Beach on a day trip is far but is possible. There are plenty of overnight options on the island too. Enjoy
Glad to know that you both were having a range of enjoyable trips in Bali. For your question about the reason of why having to give and/or take some things using our right hand is that generally in Indonesia, people tend to use left hands for cleaning up their bums after taking a dump in the toilet 😂 Hope this explains your curiosity of why it is better to always use our right hands instead.
We also did a tour to Nuss penida und June 2020. yes the island is full of people and the traffic is terrible, but we drove with a local guide and we were able to see every must see things on the island within one day. We were super happy to do this and I would recommend to everyone to do these crazy experience/tour. But I get your point to take more time for this island, burning fact if you are one or two days on the island, the traffic will be the same. But you can maybe get early on the morning to the beautiful spots and take your time there.
In Muslim/Hindu cultures, the left hand is used to wash your butt with water after pooping (before the days of a bidet). Therefore the left hand is considered “unclean” - I used to be reprimanded for extending out my left hand, or worse-eating with my left hand lol. Great video!

Really liked this video because you can tell y’all are real and not just bullshitting like a lot of other Bali UA-camrs *cough cough* lost leblanc. The bit about skipping that temple was really interesting, I’m still gonna go cause photos, but I appreciate y’all setting the expectations about it being a tourist trap.
Only 2 mins in and already this is one of the most helpful vids ever. You can find info about waterfalls and beach bars in many vids, but you can’t get there without a visa 😅
Very informative. FYI - the right hand thing is due to the majority of Indonesians being muslims. The left hand is used for personal ablutions. Not sure if it is the same for Hindus but certainly most islands in Indonesia have this same cultural view. Hope this helps.
This was exactly what I was looking for. The amount of accommodation available is confusing and so many towns! Perhaps you could do a video for old farts, that don't want the bustle, nightclubs, etc. We are on a pension, so the 5 star places are sadly out. We are ex South africans now living in Perth, love it here, but local holidays are mega expensive. Bali would be a great option as we are longing for a holiday, so how about a video for seniors. Love Cathy.
Very informative as something that needs to be put on the bucket list to go and look at. Thank you for all the research that you were doing and providing us with traveling with you
Preparing my second trip to Bali right now and I can't wait. This video is great advice and I wholeheartedly agree. If you have the time also go to Nusa Lembongan and Ceningan. You can do both in a day but they're amazing and not as crowded as Nusa Penida yet!
I would like to thank you for the super helpful tips and there were many useful points in your video which I didn't find in other videos. Well done! I am actually returning to a favorite place outside Ubud in November after a nearly three-year, plague-related absence. One thing all travelers should be aware of is, first, at least COVID medical insurance is still mandatory throughout much of the area with most nations having minimums (believe Vietnam is $10,000 USD specifically earmarked for COVID treatment.) Also - pre-travel testing. Still mandatory and I believe a clear PCR is still necessary before entering Indonesia. Yes, things DO change quite often! Also, there are lots of myths about the exorbitant cost of travel insurance for seniors which are, simply, "MYTHS!" Thanks for your informative vid!
