This by far is the only really good, very very helpful and straight to the point Bali travel video I've ever come across in UA-cam! I'm instantly a subscriber. Thank you! Will be visiting Bali w my friends next month in October!
The last point on the Bum Gun was so helpful! People don't discuss the reality of these trips enough, thanks for pointing that out. Having that gun after eating spicy food and even getting Bali belly would be more useful than just toilet paper.
I've visited Bali a number of times, but not since 2015. I've mostly stayed in and around Ubud. It's interesting to see what remains the same and what has changed. For one thing, moneychangers were everywhere, but rates vary depending on day of the week and even time of day. I learned never to try to change money from Friday noon through the weekend. I've always hired a driver for the day when exploring, so none of the scooter rental or arranging for individual rides. Your video is very useful for first-time visitors. Thanks!
Just wanted to say think you for your video and vlog series. This has been very helpful as me and my Fiancé plan our two week honeymoon in Bali this coming December!
I loved this. So helpful! Thank you so much. I'm leaving in a week. The one thing I am wondering about, which I can't find information on is are you supposed to tip in Bali? I know this is something we do in the US and it's not common everywhere...I just want to be prepared.
Glad it was helpful! Tipping isn't normal, no, but it is appreciated if there is someone that goes above and beyond - even 5 or 10% is a large amount for locals. Just remember in touristy areas you are already paying a premium and also - there is a new tourist tax that launched in Feb, be sure to do that!
This is the best video I’ve seen on tips for Bali! Thank you so much! Does anyone know a reliable source for CoVid requirements to enter Bali now? There is so many conflicting information on this. Thank you
We will be there next month. I wanted to pay for Touristic Visa but I haven't found a correct address of my hotel. I can't go further on this page. Thank you so much for your tips. They are very helpful. I'm from Poland so these information about a religion traditions are very helpful too. We want to respect their culture. So thank you ones again.
Spot on with great Tips guys. Harriet and I are always wary of traveling by scooter. What would you suggest as the most cost-effective way to get around other than a scooter when traveling longer distances? General costs? Nalu is a big boy now. How Cute. 😍 Will we see Nalu in your travels soon? Love you guys'❤❤❤ Harriet, Jim and Yuki Richmond, Va.
Definitely hiring a driver is the way to go, they are super flexible and vary depending on the length of travel of course but all you need to do i ask around when you're on the ground. We're hoping he can come along on a trip with us soon, watch this space. Sending love back to you three ❤
I came across your video good information I have a sister trip going to Bali for the first time in October for 2 weeks. We are renting a AirBNB in Semiyak any suggestions you may have will be nice 😊
The international license is relevant to what class of license you hold in your home country. To ride a scooter legally in Bali you need to hold a motorcycle license at home, a car international license doesn’t cover scooters. You aren’t covered for travel insurance without the correct class…. 💯 % on this one!
Wow, this was really nicely detailed and in-depth. If I ever get the chance to visit Bali, I'll know which video to consult.😉 P.S. Nalu vibing in the background was hilarious and super cute🐕
thanks so much guys😀I think it's brilliant that a bunch of Kiwis did the most informative Bali video (coming from an Aussie) and I'm really glad to know avout the bum gun and different varitions... cos I would def been confused. I'm really looking forward to my solo trip and I've stopped and paused at some of your early recommendations... especially the visa. can someone pls post a link as I've only been on the official website once and it got logged out and I retried it but it was a dodgy one
Whoop! Glad to hear it was helpful! We're Bali bound again and just done the visa application again ourself, it's niggly online unfortunately. Did you get it sussed in the end? molina.imigrasi.go.id/
Something worth mentioning about using card is they will add a 3% fee to your bill. Not much but I guess it could add up, especially for people travelling on tight budgets
Hi! We were in Bali just over three weeks ago. Loved it there. Stayed mainly in Nusa Dua but did have a tour arranged through our travel agent to Ulun Danu Temple and Jatiluwih. I wished I had watched this video before we went on our trip especially about the Visa on Arrival!! We weren't told about this by the travel agent (not helpful!) therefore we had to queue for nearly two hours. Just watched your other Bali vlog and it has certainly given me some inspiration and it is certainly very informative.
Stacey your hair looks amazing. Aww Nalu so sweet 💕💕💕💕 how he doing ? Great series in Bali where are you off to next. Or are you having a break with Nalu 😊 . Have a Good week 🥰
Aww stoppp it, thank you! Nalu says thank you, too. He's doing well - super social and energetic! We just did a quick trip to Melbourne but we're back home with Nalu for a while now 😊
I still can't get over the price difference with the SIM cards 🤣 When you know, you know! It's interesting to hear how travel has shifted for you both now you're doing more 'holiday' style travel rather than endless travelling. I like you guys would need to pay the extra and book things in advance so I'm not at risk of having something like a sold out ferry ruin all the plans! Your chatter about the bum gum had me cracked up. Hot take, but I think they're great, same with bidets. If a bird poops on your arm and you have a choice between washing it off with water or using a tissue - I'd go for the water. Sooooooo.... 🤣 Brilliant tips, I just need to find a reasonably priced flight to get myself there!!!
Right? Isn't that crazy, so worth just doing it ahead of time. Haha love the bird analogy, so true! Woohoo, let us know when you get there, we want to go back already!
@@DanegerAndStacey thank you yes it’s been amazing! Thanks for all the tips! Lots of talk from locals about the new scooter rental laws not sure how they will police it but they seem happy about it!
@@phays Hello, I'm going to Bali as well this summer and stumbled upon this comment: Have u already had any trouble with renting a scooter as a tourist? or have any idea when they are planning to put the law into effect?
@@alexandervanhove8822 currently it’s perfectly fine to do so, and I don’t know if there is a set date on the ban. There’s just a lot of talk from locals and it’s in the news a lot over there. The people who rent out scooters won’t want it to stop so they will always rent them to you even if the law is in place so I suggest you check just before you arrive so you don’t get caught out. We did see a few police pull people over in Ubud as there seemed to be more foreigners on scooters there than Canggu but it seemed more like warnings “you did something wrong make sure you don’t do it again”. We used gojek cars, was no issue less wait times than we have experienced anywhere else in South East Asia and also the cheapest- just takes a lot longer to get to your destination.
Hi there! I am trying to go to indonesia and am looking at applying for a electronic - VOA so we can skip the cues, but the website is not letting me access the application. Did you guys have a similar experience? if so how did you overcome this? (a vpn?) great video thanks so much for your help !
Very informative, thanks team! Just a quick question to drive the scooters in Bali do you need your NZ motorbike license? As I've seen a lot of conflicting info...
Yay, glad it was helpful! To rent a bike you honestly just need money, BUT whether you travel insurance covers accidents is another story (pretty sure you need a licence).
Are the names of the apps that you were mentioning written down anywhere? It would be nice if it were. I was also wondering about the dog (that's how I get here, because of your cavapoo puppy video) - I plan to get one in the future, but I heard that they are very... human-oriented. I read that they are prone to suffer from separation anxiety. I also like to travel from time to time and I am worried that this might be problematic. Of course it would be best to be able to travel with your dog, but this is not always possible. How is your dog dealing with this? What do you do with him? Dog hotel? Friends/family takes care of him?
Separation anxiety is REAL unfortunately. Nalu still struggles a year later sadly, we're actually looking to bring in a trainer to help with some other behaviours that stem off that, despite having him in preschool, puppy school and day care with training. BUT they are the most adorable lovely and cuddly dogs
Hi, this was a great detaiked one. I a glad that youtube threw this onne myway. 1 question - back home, i drove my car on himalayan roads, and even cross country to Nepal.. i am getting an offer from a local dealer for 200k/day for 6 days for 2014 car model tht i can check and pay if i am ookay with condition. I have got international driving permit. Question: Do you think it is doable? We re family of four and if i dont rent a car, me and my wife have to split and ride motorbike. We hate having a driver around us during holidays so thats not an option.
Thanks for the tips! I’m heading over in September, first time in 10yrs! It definitely seems like things have moved more towards scooters though, I think I would just feel more safe in a car - are there still a lot of cabs around? Or do you mostly need to organise drivers?
That's totally understandable, there are cabs around, you can also use Grab (like Uber) in certain areas - just do your research first. Don't just get in any blue cab. Get in a Bluebird Taxi specifically. There are a load around that are blue or have a similar name and logo. If you're going a short distance a cab will be fine but for longer trips, definitely hire a private driver 😊
We're actually hearing from some people it's not required anymore, but the safest option is to source a copy of you travel vaccine / international vaccine cert and show that
Hi guys, The three apps you need. I listened over and over and I still can’t get what the first one is. Sounds like Gojek. The other two are grab and WhatsApp. Could you please clarify. Thanks for the tips, going to Bali soon
Hey, when you guys went, did you fill out a declaration form 3 days prior to going, I saw online that I need to do it, I wasn't sure if it's mandatory or not.
I am planning to go to Bali in 2 weeks, for the last week of october, so you think it is still a good time, weatherwise ? I m ok if it rains a little but not my whole trip and i wonder about the humidity as well... Thank you for your video and the tips ❤
Great vlog! Leaving for Ubud soon and this was very help. I went online to purchase my Prepaid Sim Card but became a little leery about putting in my passport info, with all of the corruption/scams going on. Any advice/suggestions to ease my concerns. I would definitely want to benefit from the savings.
Glad it was helpful! If it's through their official Telcomcell site it shouldn't be a problem, of course any sharing of info online has a risk though, but we've done it a few times
Amazing video 🥰 Just have a question, I'm traveling to Bali in 2 months and fully vaccinated (2 doses) but according to Singapore Airlines travel advisories: "Passengers must have received the last dose at least 14 days before traveling to Indonesia" Do I need to get a COVID-19 boost? or is that just for the general vaccines?
Thanks! I think all they're trying to say is that your most recent dose (not sure it matters if that's your 2nd, 3rd, 4th what evs) has to have been AT LEAST 14 days ago, eg they don't want you to have just been vacced and then jump on the plane
Hi Loving your videos - I am travelling with my son in June going to Thailand first and he wanted to know how easy/difficult it is to fly a drone in Thailand ?
Difficult. We didn't bother taking ours with us on this trip but last time we checked you had to register it with the police or something, best to check online for the most up to date info 😊
Hi guys, can you please tell me the name of the apartment/villa /hotel you stayed at in Canggu as your link just goes to agoda not to a specific hotel/villa. Also can you please recommend a nice hotel in Seminyak under say $150aud a night. I was looking at the Haven Seminyak, have you seen this hotel and would you recommend it? I am travelling by myself and prefer to stay the bulk of my time in Seminyak, though I also want to experience 1 maybe 2 nights in Canggu to see what its like. I like very modern and super clean, with a balcony if possible, just walking distance to some shops cafes as I wont have transport. Thanks so much.
Your timing is impeccable! We've just planned this for our next visit - that stall at the airport is unreliable according to the feedback we've got, so the best option is to order the card and have it sent to your hotel for SUPER cheap. Use this instead: geni.us/GaAZB
We were able to, but someone else mentioned not being able to collect. It’s hard to know with Bali! In saying that, you don’t have to pay online so no loss trying your lucj
Wait a minute! for someone, like myself, who needs to book everything in advance to secure a spot for peace of mind, HOW do you just book it on the ground??? it's not computing in my head, have you ever booked something on the spot and didn't get it? if so, how did you deal with that????????????????
Haha we hear ya, we hear ya. More often than not there is always availability - there are so many companies offering various forms of tours. If it's not available the next day, it tends to be open the following, so you just be fluid with your plans
Great tips although I've been to Bali many times pre-Covid. But I find it better value (and safer) to buy Indonesian rupiah in my country Malaysia, rather than changing currencies there. Haha about the bum gun, more posh to call it a "hand bidet" :-)
@@DanegerAndStacey Oh....I hope you'll have a good stay here in Malaysia! I've bought some rupiah for my visit to Bali at the end of the month but I'm not sure if you can buy other currencies at good rates though, lol. I normally go to a mall like Mid Valley or Nu Sentral for currency exchange.
I heard it always carry USD currency to Bali. If we carry home country currency , it will converted to USD and then to Indonesian rupiah, so you still think carrying local home country currency is good?
Did you hear that Bali is considering banning renting scooters to international visitors? If caught, tourists could be kicked out of the country? It was reported in Australia earlier this week. Apparently there is a lot of hooning and also inexperienced drivers cause accidents. They also don’t wear the right gear.
Have tried to do Visa online twice and it doesn't work. Takes 10 minutes to just get your birthdate using their ridiculous calendar. To waste half an hour each time then get an error message is soooo frustrating. Anyone got a tip on how to deal with the website?
Maybe it’s timing out? As far as we know they still use it. But for the date click on the date and it brings up another window! Then you can select your birth year and save 9 and a half minutes 😉
@@DanegerAndStacey Thanks guys. I tried that so it must be an issue with my safari or Chrome I'll try to sort it with my IT guy. Thanks for your great tips. I've been there 3 times before but never bothered with all this and it's such sage advice.
Hot tip #1 with the bum guns -- test & turn the bum gun's wall tap down to a low pressure, before you blast your underneath and make a mess. It's not pretty if you make a mistake, especially if there is no toilet paper at all in the bathroom. Hot tip #2 -- You'll go everywhere with a backpack and a water bottle, so why not take some wetties/wet wipes and hand sanitiser as well? You'll see; they will come in handy. p.s. Love the Kiwi accents (says the Aussie)!

Yup it’s called GoJek! Super popular in Bali
You guys have some great info!
Thanks!
Hi there do you have some good tips on airport transfer ...i cannot find the link you mentioned
How do you feel about visiting a local shaman for a palm reading and a healing ceremony?
Great Tips! loves every word
Thank you!!
Hey, when you guys went, did you fill out a declaration form 3 days prior to going, I saw online that I need to do it, I wasn't sure if it's mandatory or not.
Best tips ever
I am planning to go to Bali in 2 weeks, for the last week of october, so you think it is still a good time, weatherwise ? I m ok if it rains a little but not my whole trip and i wonder about the humidity as well...
Thank you for your video and the tips ❤
Sorry, we've been in South America - hope you had/have an amazing trip though!
Is there an expectation of tipping? How much?
No not really at all. But it is a nice thing to do on occasion.
Hello!! Thank you!! Heading to Bali in May... whats going on with COVID? Do we have to show a Vax card or negative test??
As New Zealanders when we landed, we didn't need anything but it's best to get more up to date info based on your nationality just in case.
What is the weebsite for airport transfers? Also, is there a iphone app?
Use Klook to book the transfer
I'm staying 3 days in uluwatu, would you recommend that I hire a scooter? Or is grab and Gojek pretty accessible around there?
If you're a confident scooter rider, it's well worth getting one to avoid any areas that don't allow Grab or Gojek 😊
I got back yesterday. Stayed around the corner from The Haven... it's a nice place and right in the middle of it all in Seminyak. Great place to stay.
I have an electric scooter in Bali & didn't require a license or registration for electric scooters in 2018. Do you know if that still the same now?
Hi guys! for the Sim Cards, do you think that if i land around midnight I'll be able to get it at the airport? Will the stall be closed?
Your timing is impeccable! We've just planned this for our next visit - that stall at the airport is unreliable according to the feedback we've got, so the best option is to order the card and have it sent to your hotel for SUPER cheap. Use this instead: geni.us/GaAZB
@@DanegerAndStacey You guys are simply amazing. Sincere blessings to you
Amazing tips!!!!!!!!😮
AMAAAAZZZING 😊
what did you write on the visa on arrival form for Residence information? is it about the address where you booked your stay? pls help
Great info Just back from 2months. Going back for 6mnths. Can you talk on extended visas 😊
We do have a visa extension vlog from Bali - it's a few years old though.
Regarding your international driving licence/ permit (IDP). Which one is it.....1926.....1949.....or 1968? Thanks
So do kiwis need a visa if flying from nz and are only there for a couple of weeks?
Yup you do!
Can you still pick up the sim card you pre-order at the airport? I read several times that you now have to pick it up at a different store.
We were able to, but someone else mentioned not being able to collect. It’s hard to know with Bali! In saying that, you don’t have to pay online so no loss trying your lucj
There are so many visa sites, do you know which is the legit one plz?
We used molina.imigrasi.go.id/ 😊
Looking online couldnt find anything saying they require you to have a covid vaccination. Can you confirm if one is required to enter? Thanks.
At the time it was, but things may have changed now !
Can you please name the apps ? Or links ?
Wait a minute! for someone, like myself, who needs to book everything in advance to secure a spot for peace of mind, HOW do you just book it on the ground??? it's not computing in my head, have you ever booked something on the spot and didn't get it? if so, how did you deal with that????????????????
Haha we hear ya, we hear ya. More often than not there is always availability - there are so many companies offering various forms of tours. If it's not available the next day, it tends to be open the following, so you just be fluid with your plans
where do you recommend staying? canggu?
Definitely Canggu is our fav - we recommend you get our Bali guide for all the best advice!
Great tips although I've been to Bali many times pre-Covid. But I find it better value (and safer) to buy Indonesian rupiah in my country Malaysia, rather than changing currencies there. Haha about the bum gun, more posh to call it a "hand bidet" :-)
Exchange rates in Malaysia are incredible huh! We plan to swap some currency there later in the week
From which location do you reccomend to take the boat to Gili islands?
It depends where you are coming from but Padang Bai is the most common port and pretty handy if you're coming from Ubud 😊
Do you have the name or the address where to exchange rupiah cash for the best rate in Bali?
Is the pick-up area for this before you get your luggage or after please ?
In the same hall as luggage collection
Awesome, thank you…. 😊
I heard it always carry USD currency to Bali. If we carry home country currency , it will converted to USD and then to Indonesian rupiah, so you still think carrying local home country currency is good?
That's not the case, they just change it to IDR at the rate available. Same thing with us transferring NZD and Euros on our last trip
Hi !do we need a visa even if we’ll stay for 4 days?
It depends on what country you're coming from, but I think pretty much everyone needs one now since they made changes!
Good morning from Brazil
Hellooo!
Nice couple... very cool 😊 lazy is gooood!
Thank you!
Hi, do i need visa if only staying for a week?
It depends on what country you're coming from, but I think pretty much everyone needs one now since they made changes!
Actually the scoops are the “old” versions of the bum gun. So yeah, it is used to not only flush the toilet but to wash your down under and behind😅
Luckily the ones we saw still had the rubbish bin and toilet paper situation 😂 it's all an adventure, right? haha
Did you hear that Bali is considering banning renting scooters to international visitors? If caught, tourists could be kicked out of the country? It was reported in Australia earlier this week. Apparently there is a lot of hooning and also inexperienced drivers cause accidents. They also don’t wear the right gear.
its okay as long you have international driver license for motorcycle
@@gura6801 that’s the current law but they are thinking of banning them even if they have an international motorcycle licence.
We've heard a lot of different things, will be interesting to see what actually happens!
Hii can you please share the link for airport transfer?
If you go to Klook and type 'Bali Airport Transfer' its the one with the highest rating :)
Great tips David! Thanks for sharing 😊
I AM GOING TO BALI AFTER 3 DAYS
