I wish that non-pro variants of all phones powered by flagship & upper mid-range chipsets (including flagship killers) should be given at least a USB 3.0 port just like Xiaomi 14 & 15 non-pro variants. Sure, not many people will utilize video out's function, but they can benefit from faster transfers for larger files (eg. phone to USB-C 3.0 flash drive).
No regular find X8 in my country, the Netherlands😢😢. So no upgrade from my Find x5. I will now look for a bargain on the regular Xiaomi 14! Ticks all my boxes. Not a Big Miui/ColorOS guy, but manageable with Nova launcher. Thanks as always for the video Chris. I love these Chinese releases❤

I bought the X8 Pro at the end. Great phone and easy to find at a good price in Europe (through Gomibo). Availability, price and software were the key factors. Good cameras but not as the level of the X200 Pro or X100 Ultra I think
Great comparison/review of the 2. Some weird decisions OPPO did with the camera though, I'd still had put in a one inch type sensor in the Pro model, maybe the one from the X6 Pro to cut down costs and still make the upcoming X8 Ultra stand out. And the bloat on a global Pro model, that's not done at all. Already looking forward to the, I assume, upcoming camera comparison with the Vivo X200 Pro. Which I think is the better of the 2.

I adore the size of the vanilla Oppo X8. Feels like the perfect size. The video stabilization on the X8 Pro's 6x looks a bit janky. Maybe they can fix that with an update 7:47 That 15x shot has really bad halo artifacting due to oversharpened zooming. Oppo has to bring some updates. Especially the video footage doesn't look like flagship IMO. Very contrasty too. Photos look amazing though.

For the longest time iqoo shipped c to c charger. I couldn't understand why oppo and vivo for that matter, still shipped A to C chargers. Less universally usable with laptops. The other things seems fine with their latest release.
These optical fp readers simply can't be placed higher up because they are too thick to fit above the battery. It's a common complaint against many optical fp sensors. It's not like these brands think most people would actually prefer that the sensors be placed so low. Note that ultrasonic readers are almost always placed higher on the screen because those are just thinner so can fit right above the battery.

A very helpful comparison. I'm surprised at the battery life though. Unless you had the brightness cranked right up, those battery test scores are pretty low, especially for such big batteries.
Any experience attaching a mic? I need to attach a rode nt-usb+. The rode works on my iphone 15 pro but not on my Samsung A5 it doesn’t work for some reason even it is recognized and shown, the video app still records using the internal mic.

So you're just dreaming af having a cheap and fake "Apple". I don't see the benefit of a less comfortable phone. Sharp edges also wear your pant pockets much more. But of course, if you are going for the 5 years old Apple look, I guess the phone is glued to your hand for everybody to see it. 🙂
Oppo and Oneplus both seem to come closer to each other. They might be streamlining both brands under the same umbrella. I still favor Oneplus as here in Australia it is possible to order it on line a bit cheaper while Oppo remains expensive as a brand in the brick and mortar stores. I also would still prefer Snapdragons over Dimensity for compatibilty reasons.
Yep the 9400 creates far more thermal output which causes major throttling. Dropping the 9400 to 57% of max output very quickly compared to the snapdragon 8 elite only dropping to 70% of max performance with thermals remaining very consistent. My guess is the x8 ultra will have the snapdragon 8 elite.
I absolutely hate flat sides. Still carrying on with my OPPO x5 and its lovely curved screen. Fun fact, my fingerprint scanner location is much higher up than in the x8

Vivo and its sub brand Iqoo alongside Xiaomi pushes the mobile processor to its maximum capacity while Oppo/OnePlus doesn't ( particularly in summer) ( In India summer gets real hot ) but Oppo's sub brand Realme actually pushes the chipset to their max potential in every budget.
