I hope pen and paper are allowed during the online exams, otherwise this part of the test is simply impossible. I appreciate the effort put into this video, short and to the point. Especially since there is some unknown error that doesn't let me even see the practice test.
Thank you, this is the best advice I've seen to date on the exam, (as there is very little detailed advice and sample answers around!!)...Do you have a similar video for the Writing section?
The information is clear, the approach is really professional and the time given to the video is appropriate; I can dedicate 10 or 15 minutes attentively, not 45 as most of the videos last. As we said in Colombia: short but substantial. Bogotá in lockdown.
The obvious downsides to this test include: 1. It prioritises speed at each step, unlike the regular main suite exams that give more time to respond in most of the parts. 2. No negotiation, no discussion, only a monologue. 3. Therefore, it does not better reflect normal spoken discourse. I would only recommend this to my students requiring a quick evaluation, or lower level ones who aren't comfortable with discussion.
Why is the Speaking test so difficult on Linguaskill. I have had 10 students take Linguaskill this year and all got minimum B2 standard in the all other sections with a lot of C1 standards and all got only B1 in the Speaking which is their strongest section. One student got B1 in Linguaskill and then proceeded to get a C1 when she did the face to face exam. It's a great exam but they really need to sort out the Speaking I have spoken to other teachers and academies and they have the same problem.
The Linguaskill test has undergone extensive testing to all modules are accurate. Section 6.2 of this document goes into more detail of how we have done that. www.cambridgeenglish.org/Images/589637-linguaskill-building-a-validity-argument-for-the-speaking-test.pdf We recommend all candidates familiarise themselves with the Speaking test before the test day. @@cambridgeenglishtv That may be so, but the evidence says otherwise. I have, of course, gone through all online information but for some reason it does not seem to make a difference. Trying to contact someone from Linguaskill has, so far, proved impossible. Linguaskill have published no information as to how students perform on the Speaking compared to the other three modules. The exam could be a great one but can only be reliably used up to B2 standard if the student is at least up to C1 standard in at least one other module. I am, at present, preparing 4 of my students for the Linguaskill exam. They will take the exam with the next month and it is shameful, considering, that their English classes have been only in English for the past 5 years with the emphasis on pronunciation, that the weakest part of their exam will be speaking. I am happy to speak to anybody about it but so far people who supply the courses have completely ignored any request to speak with the exception of one
@@anabelvasquezcedre7250 I do not wish to scare you and I am sure that you will be fine. For my students I only use Linguaskill up to B2 standard and to compensate for the generally poor marks in speaking, I try to make sure that they are at near C1 level in the other parts. I cannot get any statistics from Linguaskill on the subject so I can only go on the evidence of my own students' exams. It could be such a great system and I would love to use it to its fullest butI honestly can't. All my students are only taught in English and no other language is used.
The speaking part in this exam isn´t clear at all. I have had students get B2 in the exams and even some repeated when clearly they were C1 and in some cases C2 students. I don´t recommend it to students as this is not clear so I recommend Aptis C1 exam.
You are right, I have taken C1 certifications with good scores but in this speaking exam I only got B2. In the pronunciation part I got B1 I was so gutted....
Hi, just have a question, with specific reference to part 2 of the exam. If, when reading a sentence, a candidate stalls or stutters and then reads the sentence correctly/better (within the allotted time frame), would the candidate be marked on their first attempt, second, or both?

I wasn't allowed a pen and paper...to be honest, I got quite poor experience of this test
Yes, in the examen document says, no pen and paper are allowed on the table, only my ID card, a note of user login password are allowed.
May I ask, during your linguaskill test, do you have any invigilator monitoring you throughout the entire test session?
amazing thx for your efforts

Is this accepted in UK universities?
Awesome!!
Think they should show a real exam Not just tips very disappointing
This type of video should include subtitles.
You can activate subtitles. On my computer if I press the letter c on the keyboard I can activate or deactivate them.
In 20 days??
