- On November 13, 2016 Lt. Brian Filipiak of the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office was arrested on suspicion of "super drunk" driving in northern Michigan’s Montmorency County. RELATED STORY: s.mlive.com/MAHqYvW
Highlights:
00:15 Montmorency County Sheriff Deputy Zachery Morrison passed the pickup truck driven by Brian Filipiak, an off duty Lieutenant of the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office and turns around in pursuit.
00:45 The pickup truck is seen swerving over the fog line, into the shoulder, then back left over the center line.
1:00 Filipiak pulls his truck to the side of the road as he passes a Michigan DNR officer who was also responding to the 9-1-1 calls for a reckless driver.
1:20 Deputy Morrison approaches the driver
1:27 BODYCAM FOOTAGE BEGINS - The assisting DNR officer can be seen on the other side of the truck.
2:54 Deputy Morrison returns to the truck to have Filipiak take a field sobriety test.
11:50 Deputy Morrison beings to physically remove Filipiak from the truck.
13:25 Deputy Morrison and the assisting DNR office attempt to pull Filipiak from the truck.
13:48 Deputy Morrison warns Filipiak he’ll be tasered if he does not exit the truck.
16:53 Filipiak is placed under arrest.
20:08 Filipiak states he wants a “Cop to a Cop” deal
21:17 Both officers struggle to get Filipiak in the back seat of the police cruiser.
5 years later and it's been reported that they're still trying to get Brian out of the car
he was a strong sob, they couldnt move him an inch, that taser got him moving though
@@Badolfob
I don't think the reason they couldn't move him an inch is because he was strong. It's because he's super fat. Looks like too many donuts.

The fact that he cannot fathom being held accountable for his criminal actions should be a huge red flag as to how often this happens and they get away with it.

StarrTile cops, judges, politicians or anyone with any power over the public in any way should all get the maximum that we could get for their crimes especially DUI or resisting arrest. Not sure how long you could sit in jail for DUI in Michigan but in Washington state they could give you 365 days in jail, $5,000 fine and a year of probation even if you blew only 0.08 BAC

@@AlexGonzalez-xx4gp Michigan law doesn’t require jail time for DUI.
The hell... He babied this man for 20 minutes begging him to get out of the truck. He should be ashamed.
WHY did it take Deputy a hold 14 minutes to get him out of the truck when it was plain as day he was super drunk?! Deputy Morrison was a Pussy because had that been another person, not a cop they would have tased that person a long time ago, and especially if it was a person of color they would have most likely been shot to death and pretended that he was resisting. White privilege it's called! Sad that no one see it for what it was!
He was above the law, though. No punishment for resisting arrest. Just probation for being completely wasted and driving.
I’m so glad there are good cops like this man who does his job no matter.
I bet if he didn't have his bodycam, he would let him go.
There is absolutely no reason for them to have to tell him 50 times to get out of the car or get in to the car. If that was one of us I am positive they would not allow us to not obey their orders
Actually I see it fairly regularly in these videos. They are told to deescalate and avoid getting physical. So it might seem a waste of time, but that's better than going nuts beating or killing suspects. Cameras doing what they are meant for.
@@iolitelight I have no idea if you are law Enforcement but if you are not, and this was you would not experience the same treatment. i am all for de-escalation but this is a clear depiction of police privilege.

The only annoying thing is that the cop didn’t yank him out sooner. You can’t argue with a drunk.
Agreed, he should have been put on the ground, with a charge of Resisting charge.
You hit it on the head brother. How long would we have been given to argue? That being said...props to the arresting officer...tough situation.
Way more respect and patience shown than he deserved.
I know. A regular citizen would have been dragged out a long time ago.
As long as people act like this is even remotely okay, policing is just going to keep getting worse
Boy oh boy!
Sometimes I wondered about the utmost respect and patience the police show towards sovcits. Now I realize that perhaps some of them might be sheriffs and deputies.
I know, right. They spent more time on him, arguing with him, than was warranted.
But still, a drunk driver is off the road - a good result for all.
"We are not above the law" Thanks for saying that, the type of cop you can respect.
Exactly. I was happy to hear that because they are not above the law.

Yes definitely I respect Deputy Morrison. Still Way too much pandering. There were probably as many as six charges he should have faced. Especially resisting arrest and the open container. Naturally. Most will be dismissed in plea bargaining
He only said that for the camera., and If it were Joe Public behind that wheel, instead of a fellow officer, he would have yanked that guy out and had him in cuffs after the 2nd time asking him to get out. Don't kid yourself.
This guy was stripped of his title yet remains in a support role at the Washenaw County Sheriffs office as of 2017. This was his third alcoholic incident. He blew a 0.17 this go round and 0.28 and 0.27 previously. Ridiculous how entitled this guy thinks he is. Im disgusted.

Siren not a terrible strategy, might’ve worked if he was about 90% less drunk
if the arresting officer let him go, and drunkie killed someone, drunkie's lawyer would argue it was the arresting officer's fault for letting him go
And if he made it home, nothing would happen. If he took a nap in sobered up. If he shot the cop. If he could fly. If he could borrow underground like a hedgehog. If ifs and butts were nothing but candy and nuts we would all have a Merry Christmas
@@spidermankush8 haha I like the ifs and butts line..ima steal it
Yes, if the officer does not arrest an intoxicated person and then the intoxicated person kills - this would make them both at fault. The officer is at fault for not doing his duty. The intoxicated one who kills is also at fault. That's how responsibility works.
@Persp Gold Isn't that some dumb shit ?
Yup!! And, had that occured, white cops would have sailed saying he must have drunk more AFTER our initial contact!

I know, and you are correct, and no special privilege would be right at all. HOWEVER, I will say when they found out he was an L.T., a HIGHLY respected rank in police departments, THAT caused them to pause, listen to his pleas, slow-walk this. But Morrison followed the expectations by the BOOK. Small department, which helps, too. East Coast departments, he would have possibly been CRITICIZED by fellow officers. And abusively, too.

The way he expected to drive away right off the bat, then continued to try and convince him to let him go tells me this isn't the first time he's gotten pulled over drunk driving. I get the feeling a few officers without body cams let him go. He's definitely been drunk driving regularly for a long time. I'm glad that we have body cams now and this is exactly why we need them. I saw another video like this and the off duty officer was PLASTERED, in an undercover car, full of guns, then he fled going over 100 mph when they got him to stop he dead ass says "Come on, we're brothers! We protect our own!" The officer asks what would you do if it was flipped?" He says "I would let you go!!". Disturbing af, how many officers he has certainly looked the other way for - for a variety of crimes. Just because they are officers.

“You’re a lieutenant! You know how this works!?” A Lieutenant! How sickening! My full respect for the arresting officer!
Idk about respect. the arresting officer still played this half hour-long game with him to get out of the car. If it was me or you in that situation (as a non "peace officer") what do you think would happen ?
@@Patricksargentmusic it depends on the officer. Drunk people are stubborn but I’d rather take 3x as long trying to convince them (regardless of who they are) to get out of the car on their own rather than have to use physical force to remove them.
It looks like mr pink marshmallow man. Disgusting obnoxious, person who wrongly thought he was above the law! The arresting officer did a fab job , I’m sure if it had been any of us we’d be in the back of the car somewhat faster !
How dare you enforce the law meant for the common motorist? I am a LT sheriff! Scum bag
I'm not sure what this officer is dealing with in his life but I hope he gets the help he needs! These officers see the worst of the worst every day and I'm not sure how they do it. You Men and Women do a great job! Maybe there will be more mental support in the future for police officers!

kicktotheliver Hahaha! Nice one.
So true.
Ha! Was thinking the same...
No,no,no...
Omg i thought the same thing
kicktotheliver No! Your three year old is Much wiser.... Much much wiser...
The way he knew exactly how he was planning on getting out if it “let me sleep it off on the side of the road”. Not the first time he’s used that/been waiting to use it.
Wow what special treatment, I’m glad this officer respects the law and gets this drunk off the road . I’ve seen many professional favors for the blue line but never when safety is at risk. Thanks to this arresting officer for lifting us all up
Imagine how many officers got away with DUI's before body cameras were involved
Levi Tollefson - agreed. In small towns, I bet DUI coverups happen all the time.
All the time..show your badge the officer will say okay and you drive away it's not fair but it happens all the time... I know this for a fact over and over and over. it's called Brotherhood of the badge.⚔🇺🇸⚔
Even With Body Cams They Still Get Away With It If The Department Agrees To It So Body Cams Or Not,That's Not The Issue. The Issue Is Cops Thinking They Are Above The Law When They Aren't!
Imagine how many regular people get away with driving drunk daily
Dui's they've been murdering and pillaging

Wow.
The utter disregard for the untenable position he put his fellow co-workers in it just blows my mind. People like this just should not be in this type of job.
Officer Morrison I hope you're promoted times 7 over by now!
Outstanding morals, outstanding work!
Years ago I had too much to drink and I put my keys in my trunk and slept in my car because I was not going to drive drunk. A cop came and tapped on my window and told him my keys were in my trunk. He checked and left me to sleep it off but came by several times over the night and he seen that I was still ok and kept my word on not driving. Why these people don’t understand that they should not drive under the influence, is beyond me. I never put myself in a situation like that again.
Put yourself in a bad position but made a good decision amongst it. I bet the officer told your story more than a few times about the one guy that actually did what people always say they'd do.
Reckless driving while intoxicated + Resisting + Lying + Trying to use his position to avoid arrest = Game Over
Showing his police ID before his drivers license tells you a lot about this guy. I wonder how many times he's been allowed to "sleep it off" in the past.
Probably about as many times as he said let me go sleep it off
Got off with probation and now still works at the Sheriff’s office.

This man has probably arrested 100’s if drunk drivers. He’s a hypocrite. The worst kind. It makes me sick because I know that he believes he is above the law. If he is not fired immediately that just shows how cops can be set to separate standards.
They are almost never fired. Just take an “addictions therapy” at the rehab country club and they’re back on the job!
It already shows the separate standards. A normal person would have been yanked out of the car after the first refusal to get I out. Not the 50th.
@@bobandy13 For real! Fellow cop was waaaaaay too lenient. I get the "respect" part for a fellow officer, but a drunk driver is a drunk driver! A drunk cop should be treated the same as anyone else! esp after being to resistant. "LEMME GO ILL SLEEP IT OFF" hah fuck that dude.

Yes some people are.

God bless LEOs like yourself. 🖤💙

@@cs21uncc the only reason for that is he’s a cop the race has nothing to do with it. @@proudconservative2158, imagine believing for two seconds that blacks and whites are treated equally in the eyes of the law. 🤣
Did you just graduate from home schooling?
@@kennethguthrie180 what is comes down to unfortunately is money. Whoever has a lot of money and can pay for lawyers and get lesser sentences or get off all together. Skin color is not the reason someone gets more time in prison than someone else. People can try to flip things and try to make something seem a certain way but they won’t get in to the actual reason someone might get more time than another person.
For example you could have a white guy and a black guy both arrested for the same charge and the white guy gets 5 years and the black guy gets 10 years. The first thing people like you will say is oh that’s clear racism but you won’t look further into the case. The white guy could be charged with his first ever crime and get 5 years for it while the black guy has been charged with the same crime multiple other times so he gets 10 years because of his criminal history. But people don’t like to mention things like that because it doesn’t fit their narrative.
@@proudconservative2158, so, you’re just going to ignore the poor white people who get lesser sentences too?
I'm getting the feeling that this "cop" has never had to be responsible for his own actions.
But this time will
And I get the feeling this isn’t the first time he’s been in this situation considering he asked for the arresting officer to cut him a deal, like that’s been done for him before. Makes me so angry because had that been any regular civilian they would’ve been snatched out of the car 3 minutes into the interaction.
Naw Really!?!?!?
@@LaceyTripp95 What you don't understand apparently is that your worldview in regards to law enforcement and any form of government that has power over people is that they are fundamentally BAD not the other way around. Now I will agree the officer might have let him go and maybe it has "Happened Before" And maybe without his supervisor knowing and it being recorded or those 911 calls he very easily might have been cut loose so that his cum dumpster could come pick him up with the kids and go back to the campground...Who knows. However that's not what went down. If you break the law you go to jail. Plain and simple, cut n dry. WE Reap what WE sow, And that's just how the Universe works. He drank and he drove now he goes to jail. It's not any of the good ole boy ness that potentially would cut him loose that should bother you. It's the ABSOLUTE FACT that ON CAMERA several times these corrupt scum bags have shot and killed unarmed people in the back and several were not even resisting like this Dingle Berry. That my friend is the purest definition of a coward! NOT just like 1 or maybe, big maybe 2 times in the back naw, naw, naw they like to EMPTY the mag on the badge less mongrels that they have ALL power over. The law enforcement in our nation has wayyyyyyy way, way, way to much power and ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY!!! Now we do need law enforcement!!! But with the amount of authority/power that they currently have it should be 100% no surprise that we see the situations that we see in this once great Nation... I'm a libertarian and I don't vote cause it's all decided anyways. And So therefore I'm the one that gets to complain because I'm not the one that is responsible for putting certain crooked politicians in power. BAM!!! There's some TRUTH for y'all!! But I can't take credit for that no no no that's from a George Carlin stand up special in the late 80s early '90s. Now America right now it's #1 issue is our legal system. If "WE THE PEOPLE" don't demand a complete rework and overhaul of our current system it's over. That's the BIGGEST problem we have. PERIOD. That's it! We need to fix this crap for good. It's utter Stupidity for an example look into our "cash bail" system and the lobbyist for Bondsman. It's not just wrong it's evil and wicked! For example say that we commit the same time, place, location everything we are the same in this situation 100% except for only 1 thing our nails are both set at 500 to be released and I have the money by whatever means and you don't that's the difference I have the money$$$ and you don't! What's the outcome of that? Think about it Since when did Liberty and justice for ALL bend towards the rich. Since when did lady Liberty ( A false god btw called Columbia at least her images) When did the torch get removed from her raised hand and replaced with dollar bills??? When did she remove the broken chains she is standing on and step on a pile of cash. Well the answer is......you guessed it it didn't happen. So therefore we must take back our basic freedoms and right that are slowly being stripped from us not only by those flaming pink haired LIB TARDS, but those officers that people stand up for and honor at ball games. It ALL needs to be examined by "WE THE PEOPLE" and " WE THE PEOPLE" need to vote on said changes to our system. And not just federally like the big boys but as States individually we must exercise our rights and push back against corruption and hatred and Injustice and the stripping of our liberties that takes place by the hands and the hearts of those in said state and federal governments!!!!!!! Ya dig...

Yes!! He tipped his damn wallet open first thing so the officer would see his damn badge. What a POS. I love seeing this officer holding another officer accountable for his shitty choice.
The white privilege.
He expected a corrupt man such as himself. He got a real Police officer.
Amazing how he is still convinced that he can work it out in his favor, until he realize he can't due to the non corrupt policeman.
The arresting officer was overally dramatic. He wouldn't have lost his career if he had let him go. He could have pretended he never found him. You can tell the arresting officer is an uptight little bitch and he was too scared to pull the drunk dude out of the car because he didn't want the smoke. 😸
Greg Petitt the reality of this situation is the officer who arrested him will suffer the rest of his police courier for it from other officers.
Orine Boyd no he wont
You don’t realize how a traffic stop works. It’s already called in. Documented that his patrol car is pulling over car with Certain plate number. If he was to let him go and the drunk cop killed someone the arresting officer would be liable. I hate cops but this officer is RARE
Shoot. I've been down that road so many times; it's peculiar to see such a popular video from this place. It's true, though. Montmorency County is basically a forest, a beautiful forest, but nothing much goes on there. Hell, nothing much goes on for the next 75 miles in any direction. The police department there is small for a reason; if they tried anything silly, the investigation would be swift.
I can’t believe your backup unit 17 arrived and never got out of vehicle, don’t ever count on that nit for serious help. What you just went through is one of the worst parts of the job!!! You handled it very well, showed much more patience than most. I would love to see his face when he sobers up and watcher your body cam

I bet they were ordered to stay in the car so they couldn't be witnesses to anything specific, maybe also so Brian wouldn't spazz out, and only get out of there was violence.

Just like any bully, the rules don’t apply to him. Kudos to the arresting officer.

Bit of an extreme assumption for now
@@mdhcccc I have family in law enforcement. I hear the stories. Trust me this is not an extreme assumption.
@Hunter The Based God It happens. I have witnessed it in my home town. It's a city of over 200K so not really a town either.
@Leslie Mccann Absolutely, and the officers probably would have let him go for this too had they not been wearing cameras. That's why he kept saying his hands were tied, He wanted to let him go but would have lost his job if he did. The police throughout this stop also gave him very special treatment. If it was anybody else they probably would have drawn their weapons and ordered him out of the car right off the bat.
There’s good ones, but we had a police chief who outfitted a 4x4 pickup with hardware most patrol officers would consider excessive so he could drive it to have affairs with multiple women and he was a youth pastor at the time. Another officer was in a leadership role in the Klan. It’s been some time since both were run out on a rail but those who abuse power tend to do it until stopped. My town has a population around 3500 as a bedroom community to the only major city in central Kansas with a total county population of half a million The new chief sold the pimped out truck to another department because he found it to be impractical and they acquired standard Ford police vehicles and there are no more reports of on-duty adultery or officers belonging to hate groups. I only know most of this because my father was an EMT instructor/coordinator for Region III EMS and volunteer EMS and fire for 40-odd years and being 5th generation in my hometown I hear everything. This Lieutenant had ought to been the example of correct behavior. I’m a civil servant for the federal government (civilian) and my behavior is still dictated by the rules off duty. I’m small potatoes. This dude probably misjudged how impaired he was and how much that badge counts when he f***s up. Speeding ticket? Courtesy. 4000 pound rolling missile that can barely stay between the ditches? Handcuffs.
