Yes! Police policy about their police weapons while drunk and dwi she should have had many charges and the male officer should have been charged for having his duty weapon while drunk plus their badges. Then fired.
Yes she got special treatment and never had to do anything..got by with it all...now she will do it again and again till she kills someone....they are not gonna tell us the whole story...
“I’m not going to charge you for the gun, I’m not going to do that to you, I have too much respect for you” WTF! They’re drunk cops with their firearms on them! Hey, if we have to follow the laws, so do they!
I don't know the laws there but here mere possession a weapon while intoxicated is not a crime. Here, it's a crime if: 1. Intoxicated, 2. In the persons hand and loaded, 3. The person is not engaged in legitimate self defense. So even if you are drunk and someone attacks you or someone else , you could defend yourself or defend the victim of the attack. It would be unlawful to be hunting or target shooting while drunk.
Imagine everything dirty cops got away with before cameras. I bet it stops people from becoming cops because they can’t break the law indiscriminately!
The fact that they are upset that they are being held accountable for their own actions goes to show the culture that is cultivated by too many police departments. Police officers must be held to a higher standard than the general public, not a lower one.
You are not allowed to carry a firearm when you are drinking. It is a felony. He should have charged both of them for that and her with the OVI also. Again cops are treated differently than the rest of us.
Melissa Mccarty the night wasn’t over, they both may have been charged or may be charged at a later date which would effectively end their law enforcement careers. I guarantee that this will be pleaded down or the firearms won’t come into play, she’ll get the OVI and hopefully she wasn’t more than twice the limit which would make her “super drunk”. In this day and age of Uber and Lyft, it was hubris that let them think nothing would happen and it’s so easy to avoid.
Also, if it weren't a cop they would have been treated much worse. The cop frankly had no good reason to pull them over. Crossing a line like that, in an intersection like that, with nobody else on the road late at night would be a reason to follow someone to see if they're having trouble controlling their vehicle. He followed them and they drove perfectly from what I could see. Shitty cops all around. All of them.
I went out with this guy once. On our first date he got a DUI (red flag much?) and left me sitting on the side of the road with the car. The cops didn’t tow it.
My best friend got a DUI in front of his house one day. The arresting officer was his fucking roommates cousin. He decided to not be a total dick and let his roommate pull the car into their driveway.
That cop that stopped them should be fired if he would have stopped you or me with a gun and driving while drunk we would have been verbally and physically assaulted. This video shows cops protect cops not normal people like you and me.
Arrest for misdemeanor with discretion. But let a felony on both walk gtfoh ibrespect i so I won't charge with the gun under disability him als or he could drive car letvhim walk with gun on side drink on public
True, but the real issue is. How many cops would give that many chances. Look at his face on the eye test. Sighed and turned his head in disappointment. The same way you would in disappointment to a child. That's my issue. Rules for me not for thee. Know damn well no camera. No charges at all
no the real problem here is looked up the case and she was acquitted of all charges because they never breathalized her at the station so she got off with a case that "her apparent slurring is her british accent and they could only smell alcohol" which is bull

The Constitution has no laws against carrying any type of arms, drunk or not. As a matter of fact, it says that the right to bear arms "shall not be infringed", and there was no "except" after the end of that statement. That is the law of the land, and it must be respected. Daydreamer I’m in full support of the 2nd amendment. I’m also in support of some drunk idiot not being able to carry a firearm while they’re intoxicated. Some people under the influence make decisions they normally wouldn’t, so it’s for everyone’s safety including the owner of the firearm. No intoxicated person should be operating anything that can cause harm to the public, that be vehicle or firearm.
And, they just got caught this time. How many other times have they driven drunk and endangered the public or made a traffic stop drunk. Most cops today are on a power trip and it shows with their comments. Buy the beer at the store and drink at home.
I love how the arresting cops in all these videos always say, "nothing I can do, everything is recorded" the implication being, if it wasn't being recorded, the law wouldn't apply to a fellow cop. I see now why almost all police departments resisted cameras for as long as they could
It doesn't just apply to cops though. Before these cameras, police routinely had a bit of leeway, and could decide to give you a break if he/she felt like it. Now, you are effed if you are pulled over for anything remotely serious. They have no choice anymore.
The fact that this cop is so apologetic to this woman is disgusting. I can’t imagine he’d ever tell a civilian “this is my worst nightmare” when arresting them for DUI with a loaded firearm.
If not for cameras her and most other cops u see getting arrested for crimes like this would have gone home with a free ride from the local brother in blue . Thank God for technology. They still are getting away with alot of illegal stuff but soon technically will catch everything they do.
I was thinking the same thing, if we were drunk and carrying a loaded firearm we would be charged no questions asked. But because he's a off duty cop it's cool?
the fact that she said "im a police officer if that makes a difference" lets people know that she thoght she was gonna get away from it at the start. honestly, disgusting

Boy, he was so polite to her and didn't even charge her for the FELONY of a gun in her possession while intoxicated. What a nice police officer protecting the public from criminals! I bet if there was no recording happening, the drunk cops would have walked away scot free.
older law enforcement officers are super egotistical and believe that they can do whatever they like, they had the job before cameras. The fact that the cameras don't deter most of them from violating rights is what should really freak you out.
The fact that they keep repeating "everything is recorded" to me seems to imply that if it was not recorded, this incident would have turned out VERY differently (i.e. preferential treatment)
Could be. On the other hand it's an easy yet very effective argument to make it clear that there is no chance he can let them go so he probably uses it to prevent discussion and drama.
Expect the FOP to loudly protest any disciplinary action. Because obviously patrol officers should accept the OVI excuse "I just live down the street" and "I'm a police officer if that makes any difference". This is EXACTLY what gives police a bad name. When police fck up they should own it and not think they are above the law, that they think applies only to little people without badges.
I love the implication that if there was no recording he would let her off, was it real or was it to keep her from retaliating? The law should be for everyone, even more so for officers.
@@firemonkey1015 you don’t have to be a criminal to want laws to apply to everyone. It doesn’t mean you are against police. I want more police. I just want them to obey the laws they have sworn to protect.

Wow. Even with cameras rolling he was giving them special treatment. You can't drink, drive, and carry a gun no matter what your job or profession is. The ones who enforce the laws should be held to a higher standard.
Love how he implied that if it wasn't recorded he'd cut them a break. Garbage. If I was drinking and driving with a firearm I'd be in prison. What an absolute joke.
I love how he just stood their as if dumbfounded as what to do. " We only live 4 blocks away " you could almost see in his mannerisms that he was considering that. Had that been anyone else he knows it wouldn't make a hill of beans difference if they were only 4 driveways from home. He should have been more disgusted with them because that behavior makes them all look bad. Truly Sad.
I don't know what's worse, a cop who doesn't want to get arrested for breaking the law? Or the cop who doesn't want to charge her the felony crime because he has "too much respect for her.” Double standard. She didn't wait until he said im putting the cuffs on you. Or try to hide it and claim she didn't knkw it was there. Full accountability and responsibility goes a long way with police. If the guy was driving, he'd of gotten both from this guy, no doubt. He didnt slam him solely because he was looking out for her. Didn't want to ruin her night even more by locking up the husband on felony charges. Yup they should tow the car. In real time, the husband should also get cited for carrying his gun while drinking. And yeah, they do their jobs everyday they work. That’s their JOB has nothing to do with double standards where the law is concerned. They SHOULD she SHOULD have gotten the felony charge for gun as well. It is bullshit she did not.
Yup and if it wasn’t he would have let them go, so they can ruin our lives, but cops can’t do it to each other , this is so wrong, I hope they are all in trouble, but it’s recorded , luckily for the public it was

Exaggerate much? Wrong. He had plenty of other opportunities to let her go. Could have ignored the odor of alcohol to begin with or just simply said she passed the eye test. They think they are above the law and this is a prime example of how they treat each other like they are above the law.
They were driving safely. It used to be if you were too drunk, you got a ride ,walked home or put In a drunk tank with no charges. The car would stay by the road for 3 days to pick it up. The law states there has to be a victim to go to court. There was no victim. There should have been no charges.
0:08 the dashed-yellow line disappears mid-turn, so his initial reason for pulling them over was legally invalid: The engineer who maintains this road has a MUTCD violation of "too dim paint markings" -- very common in USA; in this case the left-turn-only dashed (short) yellow lines are crucial to safely navigating the L turn they just made @ 0:10 because they're approaching crest of a hill, so they cannot see the pavement (and its mark-out of where the oncoming-lane's-L-turn-only lane, and the radius you must take to avoid crossing into his lane, aren't visible to give you a 2-second reaction time -- or what we engineers call "sight distance" is limited. The "left turn only painted guidance markings (short dashes showing the radius through this wide intersection that you should take, i.e. that you must keep right of) is very short sight-distance, and the 15'-20' length of paint missing mid-radius puts LIABILITY for any collisions or moving violations related thereto on the shoulders of the city/county/state who failed to maintain the mark-outs (paint), not the driver. So all evidence (officer observation of bad breath) is invalidated as "fruit from the poisoned tree". The extra paint IS there for a reason, especially in this case since they come up a hill into a WIDE "sea of pavement" (several lanes of width for both roads), then every "leg" into the intersection flattens out, creating, for this vehicle, a "hill crest" so she cannot see until the last second that she's cut the radius to tight, because the paint DISAPPEARED (poor maintenance...especially at night). Now IF a vehicle WAS in that lane, they'd have an easier time seeing that, unless he rushed up then SLAMMED his brakes... because his roof (unless it's a Corvette or other VERY low sportscar) sticks up WAY higher than the paint markings so you can see that DESPITE the "hill crest," but I'm betting the cop KNOWS this intersection is tricky especially for ppl unfamiliar w/the area, esp at night... and they take advantage of drivers who aren't familiar w/MUTCD requirements, until it kills someone in a head-on & they get a LAWYER who hires us engineers. Same thing is a home-owner on a corner lot builds an opaque wood fence 6' tall in his front yard in an intersection's "sight triangle" and the City Engineer doesn't make him tear it down.

1. Intoxicated,
2. In the persons hand and loaded,
3. The person is not engaged in legitimate self defense.
So even if you are drunk and someone attacks you or someone else , you could defend yourself or defend the victim of the attack. It would be unlawful to be hunting or target shooting while drunk.

Also, if it weren't a cop they would have been treated much worse. The cop frankly had no good reason to pull them over. Intoxication and guns do not mix unbelievable
Police officers arrested for DUI that have arrested civilians for DUI should have mandatory jail time.
They should have been charged for the firearms as a felony as well. If any individual who wasnt a cop acted as that man did they would have been shot. If any individuals who were cops were found to habe firearms on them while drunk they would have been charged with felonies. They think they are above the law and this is a prime example of how they treat each other like they are above the law.
You guys are right! But AT LEAST he didn’t let them slide!
Its separate. They should just be treated like the rest of us.
Uncle Ed - nah. Let’s not compound the problem.
They were driving safely. It used to be if you were too drunk, you got a ride ,walked home or put In a drunk tank with no charges. The car would stay by the road for 3 days to pick it up. The law states there has to be a victim to go to court. There was no victim. There should have been no charges.
so, these drunk cops are saying, "how long you been a cop" meaning, "are you a team player or what, we are above the law",
The way they choose to treat certain types of people differently is the root of so many problems in America 🇺🇸
Same thing is a home-owner on a corner lot builds an opaque wood fence 6' tall in his front yard in an intersection's "sight triangle" and the City Engineer doesn't make him tear it down.
yup, she was acquitted & not for being a cop.
@@Pepe_theFurfagFrog So what. The point still being she received special treatment and they watched an intoxicated man walk away carrying a gun which is also a felony purely because he is a police officer. You can teach us all a class on interstellar physics but he literally verbally told her he was not charging her with carrying impaired out of "respect". As a warehouse lead man do you honestly think I would get his "respect" for the same? He basically coached her to not breath test until they got to the station so that she would sink below the legal limit. Do you see a pattern here? If there were no cameras they would have rolled home simple as that. Back in the day that is exactly how it worked.
@@pig22official Can you show us where the Second Amendment says "shall not be infringed...unless you drank more beers than X, in the prior Y hours?" *_Their state law is unconstitutional_* -- as SCOTUS has struck down SEVERAL state laws in recent months -- not in conformity with _U.S. versus Miller's_ constitutional litmus tests. So he, and non-police, all get to walk home "armed and hammered" from now on. If the police arrest you for it, you just need a pro bono 2A lawyer, *_then you get reimbursed by suing the state for the civil rights violation._*
As a "warehouse lead man," I'll give you the "professional courtesy" of walking into my mechanic's or paintman's work area to discuss something you need done on your car, and trust you whereas I'd kick out or say "no, show me from there, from behind that yellow line" to some bubbleheads who I can't trust to not trip over airhoses or knock over my oil recovery, and then sue me. We all get "professional courtesies"/fringe benefits COMMENSURATE with our fields of expertise. 🙂
@@Pepe_theFurfagFrog Not the same... And if you don't think it should be illegal to carry a loaded firearm in public intoxicated we have nothing further to debate as I profoundly disagree with you. And no I would not allow a non employee in my warehouse to walk around in my dangerous work area because he is a warehouse worker especially intoxicated. That "professional courtesy" would cost me my job and a massive lawsuit if he were injured. A well regulated militia is not a drunk one :)
He HAS to charge them for having the firearms while drunk. They're police issue. It's against policy.
The arresting officer is so gentle, imagine if it was a regular citizen
yes. hed probably not go to hell.
Imagine if it was a regular person, black.
If this was Lapd and they were black...
How would you know.
He prolly treat them just as they treat him
I lost it when he was so pissed and acting tough, then gets out of the Jeep in a Kilt.
He's a tough nut. Also has tough nuts in that cold weather. Like leathery walnuts.

The cop that stopped them should be fired for not doing his job - Bad cops protect bad cops.
