Legislation was passed a while ago to give TfL the power to regulate these things but they haven't done anything yet except talk (not even start, yet!) a 'consultation'. I don't know what there is to consult about - everyone hates them, even the 99% of tourists that don't use them. The only reason they are able to exist is that the fleece the small minority of people who do actually want to use them.

I like your videos, because I like London, I live in Croydon, and I've lived in London all my life, but it's way out of my price range, I'm a pensioner, and simply can't afford those prices, I unashamedly use primark, and for food shopping, I use Lidl, that chocolate that you showed was just ridiculous, why would anybody pay that sort of money, when they can go over to London Bridge ,and get a month's worth of chocolate for that 45 pounds ,😂

Hannah, I’m really enjoying this style of vlogging you’ve chosen for this summer in London, I mean, you’ve been highlighting and showing more of this world outside of the shops, as well as giving us great feedback on the history, the streets, the architecture of the buildings and also about the shops in London, whether they’re flagships or not. I’m in London at least once a month and I’ve noticed how different it is now compared to 10 years ago. Was gutted when Fenwick’s closed but this seems to be the way of the world now. Hannah, a beautiful video. For a while I worked at Canada House on Trafalgar Square. For lunchtime exercise I would walk up to Piccadilly Circus and the lower part of Regent Street, then back to work down Haymarket. I am walking for exercise and a break, not to explore. At other times when I was shopping at the weekend, my mother and I took the tube to Piccadilly Circus, we walked up Regent Street to Oxford Street, and then to Selfridges. So much has changed. When I did these walks Regent Street was two lanes of traffic North/South and thankfully, no bicycle Rickshaws. Thank you 🇨🇦

That’s sad to see - the shift to casual dressing . I used to appreciate my mornings to work despite the crowded tube because the beautiful people of London, especially the gents, are all so dressed up . I also feel that people behave in line with how they dress. Most gentlemen back then would give up their seats and hold the door open with a courteous smile. Oh well, post pandemic chivalry is dead.

I do agree with you; sadly there is a real pandemic affecting the whole world, its name is SCRUFFYNESS. Looking at the people walking down anywhere in Europe is enough to make you sick. There is no excuse to dress so badly! I am sure some of the slobs you see there have lots of money and could dress very nicely but, as the old song says: "You either have or you haven´t got style"

1:29 That "store" which had its entrance right at the face of Piccadilly Circus was Swan & Edgar. It closed in the early 1980s if I remember rightly. It was a lovely department store that seemed to go on forever. I remember going there with my bf as a teen and trying the wigs on in one of the departments. It then became a huge record shop, part of Richard Branson's Virgin empire I think, then a sport shop.
I love Regent Street and agree it is the most elegant Street in the UK. So many lovely shops have gone but I'm so glad a new version of Cafe Royal has opened up in the same venue. Dickens & Jones, Evans department store. Who can forget China, China on Oxford Circus which sold all the high end brands of China & porcelain dishes, bowls, glasses etc. Peter Jones department store that had a branch of Cranks, the 1st vegetarian restaurant that had delicious food. Aspreys the jewellers was also in Regent Street as was Garrads jewellers. Jaeger had their flagship shop in Regent Street full of beautiful couture clothes

I loved ‘my’ walk down Regent Street. The architecture and the ambience it gives is stunning. This trip was free thanks to you Hannah while I lie in bed on a nice Saturday morning in Melbourne Australia. Coming to London would be a very expensive trip. It is not affordable when everything costs double. So, wherever you go I will appreciate. Don’t question it just go so that
I can come too. As for the cost of chocolate… yes the artisan variety is very expensive. Go for the alternatives I say! Yes you are right…the sporting type clothing/shoe stores even here are in the high rental areas. They must be making huge profits from what they charge that we seem to think is reasonably priced for us to buy. If we didn’t buy so much from them their prices would be lower! We need to be more discerning shoppers! Cheers have a good time. Vicki

You asked for ideas, here's one. Wayyy back I toured London using a Michelin Guide (those old printed ones with a green cover), the beauty of those things is they had these little maps of walks and you could walk along while reading the Guide and be directed to, say, a Christopher Wren park, or some minute or well-known site. I think it'd be cool to retrace any guidebook or any online guide to see how it compares with a recent vlog experience. Back to this episode, I stopped and shopped at the Flagship Burberry you pointed out during my visit, as a treat to myself, I still remember the unique service experience. Love your stuff!

Showing us all the beautiful architecture, what it’s like to walk in a crowd (anxiety-inducing), what’s on offer and then backing it all up with your wonderful and funny commentary all make for a delightful wander. You can wander and waffle anywhere you want and I will always follow. Now FYI- that 45 pound chocolate bag might be a deal some day as Costco seems to believe the price of cocoa is going to be so expensive they have stopped making their Kirkland brand of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Just a heads up for you. Thanks again. You’re the best!

Hannah, on the same wavelength as you regarding those two wheeled, mobile noise boxes. Hell, there is more than enough traffic and noise in London; no wonder some people lose the plot because of all the unwanted extra noise. Enjoyed the walk and your chat, great to hear a presenter talking naturally. Wonderful buildings along that street.

I worked in a jewellers called T&J Perrys on Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus end from the early 80s to the early 90s. Back in the days when Garrads, the then queen jewellers was the poshiest shop on the road. We also had Aquascutum, Burberry, Mapin and Webb, Hamleys, Liberty and lots of shops selling goods from exotic countries. I loved this walk done Regent Street but a little sad that I didn’t recognise any of it till you reached Hamleys…

Enjoying a taste of London thru your videos- Thank you Hannah for a bit of sweetness, you always bring the sunshine. Joy to you from California (Random- but whenever the subject of England comes up, I miss the Queen. It’s not the same) anyway, back to the video… 🤩👏🏼👏🏼

Just amazing the Mayor is obsessed by emissions, but quite happy to sanction ripoff merchants peddling (pedalling??) noise pollution. Those contraptions should be outlawed - or at least regulated and licensed, with clear price structures and, more importantly, safety checks. I was born and brought up in London but very rarely venture in nowadays, but am deafened when I do!

There’s just something about Regent Street, isn’t there? Much better than Oxford Street! It’s changed enormously, but I still love it. Once the leaves begin to change, I’d love to see some walks through parks, and the ‘leafier’ neighbourhoods! And perhaps another tea with your sister…? 😉 Thanks, Hannah. Cheers Hannah, it’s Sean in Atlanta! First of all, you look absolutely smashing! You’ve cut your hair and you are absolutely radiant and I hope people tell you that! How could they not?
You know I am not a huge Soho fan so let me join the group that drowns in a rainstorm because their noses are up so high! Not exactly the snooty, but you get the picture!
London is crammed full of people! Doesn’t that make you crazy? I went and looked at a property in the Northwest Georgia Mountains and you could not hear a thing, no cars and no noise except nature. And still my hunt goes on to escape the never ending traffic in an Atlanta.
I have always loved the architecture on Regent Street. But it looks like the nature of the stores has definitely changed. I see there is still a Barbour store there, one of my faves.
You just mentioned Café Concerto and I used to eat at the one near the museums on Cromwell Road, near Harrods. Meh…
You are cracking me up with your Hannaisms with “bougie” and “mooch” and all those cool words of yours!
It looks like it’s quite warm there! It is absolutely sizzling here in Atlanta! Last week we had lows of 67 or 68°F but those days have gone away, I guess! That’s why the mountains are another attraction for me because they’re usually 10° cooler.
You know I love your incidental music! I’m just wondering how you search for it because it is smiling music for me.
You mentioned getting a suede jacket and I could definitely see you in that. You have no need to worry because you have an exceptional sense of style! At least, I think so…
I actually went to a local shopping mall this afternoon before I started watching your video, and the shops have gone down in “class”. It’s so nice to see shops in London with people in them! What a concept! Even though I like shopping in person, there is something to be said of online shopping. It’s kind of cool that we have the same stores that you have, only you have customers in yours…
The architecture in London is so incredible! I just love the differences in each building and yet how elegant every single building seems to be! My favourite City on earth that I can only visit every so often. Not fair!
Please, please don’t worry about your hair! It’s beautiful and if no one tells you that, shame on them!
So Ted Baker is going under? Being a guy, I don’t shop there, but it’s almost an iconic brand! Retail is in such a sorry shape.
I’m beginning to waffle on so I’m going to end my verbal assault on your time.
You always take me on a grand tour of my favourite city and make me realise how much of it I did not see in all the trips that I’ve taken there! Shame on you! Haha, just kidding. Thanks and have a smashing week!
    Sean
P.S. I know I mentioned it before, but you look radiant! And if I were just a bit younger…

London luxury stores are in others areas/streets, Mayfair, St james all around there. For me as a man i come from italy and in those areas you find the top of the world in terms of shoes, tailor casual, grooming accessories etc. Marylebone area some nice quality store too. At list i know 20 stores which are true niche luxury, not fashionable and very hidden gems.
You live in London, and you know better than me the city. But me that i come from outside uk/London i konw a lots luxury places where to go shopping or lunch dinner drinks there. And i’m not talking about LV hermes and so on. Some streets are changing some are not. That’s it

A lot of the luxury niche brands are wising up to the extortionate business rates and moving to more affordable locations. Many enterprises have also realised that they can significantly reduce overheads by not owning / running physical stores and can operate via concessions.
