My father was staff manager of Selfridge's before WW2 under Gordon Selfridge, my cousin Walter was a doorman, and both my sister and I worked there as sales assistants. Both on the ground floor: she in cosmetics, while I sold gloves and hats. Meanwhile, mum was a senior sales assistant at Harrod's! A real department-store family. 😀
The history of Selfridges - incredible. They were first in many things, including selling make up, and having items on display for customers to actually touch! Loved the tv series. The store owes your family a lot, for your hard work through the generations.

Love my Friday mooch with Hannah, hyping me up to go shopping on the weekend, then remembering I don’t want to be an anchovy packed into a shopping hall with all the other shoppers. Hannah out here doing the hard work for us, thank you got your service 😂❤
I have to say as a tourist, Harrods food hall is much more appealing. The presentation and quality is a lot better as is the cleanliness. I didn't even go to the food hall in Selfridges when I was visiting last year but I did go to Harrods a lot. I didn't miss much in selfridges but thanks for another great video!

Wow Onion Baji scotch egg what a fabulous idea. I don’t blame you for buying lots of stuff sometimes it’s about what you want and not what you need. Thanks so much 💜🐻
Can’t believe you’ve been doing this for about 5 years Hannah. You only popped up on my suggestions a couple of weeks ago and I’m slowly working my way through your ‘back catalogue’. You seem the pleasant sort, not pretentious and all round good egg. Keep up the good work, interesting stuff. I lived in London in the late eighties working in casinos and had a great time, it’s good to see some of the places I remember.😊
Biltong is not the Afrikaans name of Jerky, purely as they are two complete different products, made in two different ways. Biltong is derived from the Dutch words bil (“buttock”) and tong (“noodle”) (“strip” or “tongue”) Do remember this was originally a way of preserving meat. The settlers who moved north into southern Africa were mainly Dutch, German and French - all looking for land to farm and homes to make. They learned the skills of the indigenous peoples in order to preserve their own meat supplies in the hot, dry climate. Plus they had salt (saltpetre) to help with the preservation. They added their own ingredients too: vinegar, pepper and coriander became the traditional biltong ingredients of the Voortrekkers - the wagon-travellers - as they crossed the continent.
I do love a mooch through a posh food hall. The cakes at the start - amazing. And the gorgeous tins. So much fab food way out of my budget but fun to see.
9:54 - New Zealand Manuka Honey, 250g for 207.99GBP. At my local supermarket here in New Zealand (called New World, NZ's equivalent to Waitrose) for Manuka Honey 250g varies from $NZ119.99 down to $NZ8.99. To convert NZ$ to GBP multiply by 0.46.

Thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks as always Hannah - was having such a glum day until you popped up in my notifications!! Always such a joy to spend some time with you - it really is like hanging out with an old friend

I love going shopping with you Hannah. My dream was always to go to England and see where my grandparents came from, but I'm too old to make the trip now and that's why enjoy your vlogs as you roam around showing us foods and gorgeous buildings.
Hannah I can’t believe you’ve never heard of Manchester tart! It’s so delicious. Sadly it’s not eaten here in Manchester as much anymore. It was always on the school menu when I was at school. Loved the video btw.

@@jackieoconnor4926 Harrods food hall was built into the original building, would be why it’s so large. Fortunately most of the tiling survives too, worth a long look. It can be very convenient to zip in for the specialities then across to Marks & Sparks since it was a few minutes walk. 🇬🇧🇬🇧

Best day of the week, and the best way to spend a Saturday morning, having a mooch about London with Hannah❤ Your videos have given me so much joy. And from previous videos, Harrods food hall looks better, it looks more high end and tidy.
A friend of mine and hubby's bought Biltong at a festival, ate it all and then went for a few 'trots' along the way! Then in the evening, his constitution restored, we all tucked into a curry at one of Tewkesbury's finest. What a star! I love your foodie vlogs.
Hannah, I love your videos and look forward to each of your new adventures around London. You visit lovely places and do the things I would do if I could. Please continue as you have and count on me to accompany you in spirit!
Hey Hannah, Thank you for the lovely vlog! I really enjoyed it, especially the shopping tour. If you don’t mind, I’d love to see more of those, especially in the winter - it’s much better to stay cozy inside the shopping centers when it’s cold! 🤗Anyway, happy Friday, and I hope you have an amazing weekend!💐🇬🇧❤🇺🇸💐
Hello ! thanks for the tour it was fun to whatch , i only been to London once and that was back in 1998 when i was a domestic helper and i lived outside London / Love from Sweden / Johan
Used to buy my school uniform from Selfridges in the 60s. Yes I'm that old 😊. Now living in Australia so loving your videos Hannah. So if i get homesick you are there to make me feel better. Thanks.
Great vlog Hannah to compare to Harrods. Some interesting fruit we’re not familiar with. We’re with you on the tea leaves…too much time spent when drinking multiple cups a day. That Sac Bag purse was different and always love your off the cuff comments 😊
I agree that the display cases needed cleaning. The products are so attractive and I love the tins. Almost nothing comes in a pretty tin in the US. But I’d probably never be able to throw them away! What do you do with them?
I really agree with you, it certainly looked unloved and a bit grubby. It doesn’t take long to straighten packages etc especially at those prices. I will keep to good old Tesco lol🤗
I used to work in that food hall in the 90s. Interesting that people would come in for their weekly shop including truffle and osso bucco. It was very buzzy atmosphere with frequent celeb spotting. Having said that, at one point I worked in the bakery section and they made us try and sell off some of yesterday’s leftovers as fresh bread. Always awkward when customers question the freshness. I can tell a lot of supermarket bakeries try this now. Very annoying. Goes to show even high end places are not always above board.
Really enjoy your videos and honesty about what you see. Since I live in Canada, I need to make sure I'm sitting down and have a good stiff drink ready. Your 7 pound Croissant would cost me $12.57 CAD. OUCH! Can't see anyone in Toronto or Vancouver willing to pay that much. I could be wrong. Someone please correct me if I am. I am always surprised at how they display really expensive items out in the open. Not a chance here. Love your choice of music to go along with your videos. Makes me think of a Sunday stroll through a market and amusement park. Save the loose leaf tea for a special relax at home on the weekend.😋
Thanks for taking us to Selfridges. I never really buy anything in their Food Hall when I travel to London. I prefer Harrods, Tesco and love Marks and Spencers across the street from Selfridges. Just find their displays not that impressive and tired at Selfridges. It’s needs a renovation. And do shop at Fortnum and Mason in their food hall at times for a few items. Love all of your videos, no matter where to take us. Always so enjoyable. Hope you enjoyed all of your purchases.
I’ve been to both Hannah and I must agree with you Harrods is hands down the best it just has a vibe to it. The suede bag and the burgundy bag Gorg!!! 😍😍🥰
Much fun watching your shopping videos from Oregon in the U.S. We have some specialty shops here in Portland area but nothing compares to the grand scale of things that you have there. I do agree that the store looked rough around the edges for sure. Sad to see. I agree , I LOVE your Harrods shopping trips, elegance and delicious.
I admired you Hanna … Sunday at Selfridges ? Not me! You are very right the shop looks a bit middle of the road doesn’t have the ‘classy-touch’ it used to. Please can you explore for us the New Battersea Power Station? Love the architecture and the M&S there😉 Thank you✨✨✨
The glass cabinets can't be helped. When I worked at Warren James the glass would be cleaned every half an hour as people left finger prints on the glass and as soon as you were done... the prints would be building up again. I can only imagine a shop as busy as Selfridges is going to be a lot worse for window pokers.
But even the inside of the glass cabinets, looked a bit shabby in places, a big disappointment. Harrods must be constantly cleaning, as their display glass is gleaming.

Bought a multicoloured mini dress in Selfridges in 1969 when I was a young teen visiting from Canada. I was so proud of that dress. 😄

Hello ! thanks for the tour it was fun to whatch , i only been to London once and that was back in 1998 when i was a domestic helper and i lived outside London / Love from Sweden / Johan
I love these shopping vlogs Hannah. You can do the hard work and I can get my shopping fix. Thank you
I really agree with you, it certainly looked unloved and a bit grubby. It doesn’t take long to straighten packages etc especially at those prices. I will keep to good old Tesco lol🤗
Just a little out of my price range. Thanks for sharing Hannah have a good weekend . See you next Friday 👋👋
Christmas is only once a year 😂
I used to work in that food hall in the 90s.
Love watching your videos! I look forward to them each week. We recently enjoyed a holiday in the UK and I want to come back so badly!!!
Cheers for showing the nicer side of London. 🎉
Deliciously delightful Hannah, have a superb weekend.x❤️
Thanks for taking us to Selfridges. I never really buy anything in their Food Hall when I travel to London. I prefer Harrods, Tesco and love Marks and Spencers across the street from Selfridges. Just find their displays not that impressive and tired at Selfridges. It’s needs a renovation. And do shop at Fortnum and Mason in their food hall at times for a few items. Love all of your videos, no matter where to take us. Always so enjoyable. Hope you enjoyed all of your purchases.
Another great video. It's great to treat yourself, you deserve it! Looking forward for F&M
Your vlogs are always my go-to comfort watch ✨
Have a Good weekend ✨✨✨
I’ve been to both Hannah and I must agree with you Harrods is hands down the best it just has a vibe to it. The suede bag and the burgundy bag Gorg!!! 😍😍🥰
Never thought about food being in Selfridges. Gonna have to have a look now 🙂 Thanks Hannah 👍
Not me!
You are very right the shop looks
a bit middle of the road doesn’t have the ‘classy-touch’ it used to.
Please can you explore for us the
New Battersea Power Station?
Love the architecture and the M&S there😉
Thank you✨✨✨
ahh oh great vibes hannah :) have a wonderful day
The glass cabinets can't be helped.
Thanks again Hannah for your delicious video. ❤
...'the cold Timbuktu of the World'.....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 OMG! You're killing me Hannah 😂😂
Agree with you Hannah. Harrod’s looks better than Selfridge’s. I’ll have to come back to England for a taste test . 😁
