    Wow!!! Not only looks great, but sounds great too. My dad would’ve loved that little growl. And so cool to see you actually drive her too👌🏼😎

    What a milestone, driving under her (sorry if you think of it as a him, my women name all our cars) own power!!!! Yeah it was only 4 or 5 meters and only in reverse but she's moving!!!

      I think of the MG as a girl too. Just need a name for her now.
      It was good to move her under her own power, felt great

    The sweet purr of an XPAG.

      I heard the purr again yesterday after pulling the engine out to fix an oil leak

    Sounds great Jamie. Now you need to adjust the valves and run your camshaft and tappets in if you haven't already done so.

      Already done, that’s why my neighbours will be happy the exhaust is now fitted

    Jamie, we had exactly the same issue with a new exhaust hanger, had to redrill it. I think they are used on MGBs or MGAs, and supplied as suitable for TD/TFs.

      Thanks John. I was wondering if it had happened to anybody else.

    Hi Jamie. I have a similar ticking noise...I adjusted the tappets (they weren’t that far out) but the ticking noise is still there. I haven’t heard many other TD’s but mine sounds exactly like yours. I’m wondering if that’s how they sound? Be very interested to see how you get on after you’ve adjusted them. Really enjoy your vids, helped me a lot. Cheers from the UK!

      Hi Neil
      I adjusted the tappets today and the noise remains. I was starting to wonder if this is a normal noise for a TD or not. It’s interesting to hear you’re having the same issue.

      @@MGREBUILD Fear not, your TD's sound exactly as they should. I would know the valve clatter of an XPAG anywhere, part of the charm of these cars.

    • @MGREBUILD
      @MGREBUILD  4 роки тому

      Thanks Robert. It’s good to know the noise is correct. I do have an alloy tapper cover to go on later so that should quieter the noise down a little bit more.

    Couldn't tell for sure but did you put a lock washer on that hanger bracket? Looks like it's almost time for your first "drive". Looking forward to it!

    • @MGREBUILD
      @MGREBUILD  4 роки тому

      Yes the lock washer was put in place. Looking forward to her first real drive.

    Hi Jamie
    I found your youtube channel a few days ago and have been watching the episodes. I am in the process of buying a TD that is in bits. I noticed in one episode that you made contact with a guy in Seven Mile Beach. I am guessing you are not too far from him, which would place you as being somewhere in Hobart?. If my deal goes through I would appreciate it if you would be ok if I could chat with you. I would not be a pest. It would be along the lines of information as to where to find parts etc.. Thanks

    • @MGREBUILD

      Im actually in Burnie. I was visiting family in Hobart when I made that video. I dont mind questions, that's how we all learn. I have a good source of parts in the US which I'm happy to share.
      Are you Tassie based as well?

      @@MGREBUILD No deal I am afraid to say. He has now promised the car to his grandson. You know what that means. It will never get finished!. I looked at the parts. It is a 1948 TC. Been raced. Has supercharger and I think 16 inch wires wheels. Was raced by John Bowes father way back, up at Longford and by others. Had a bingle and the steel body was replaced with an aluminum one. Think most of the parts are there. What a shame . A dream down the gurgler!. What would the bits be worth would you say?.

      @@miragejeff1 thst would have been an absolute beautiful car to own. Keep in touch with the guy/grandson you never know they may end up selling it to you.
      Are there parts for sale as well? Do you know what they are?

    A job that is much easier without the driver's side wheelarch panel and the floor. Sure beats lying on your back on the concrete!
