- This video was made with MA2 and Realizzer, a really neat 3D engine for lighting. Also, my new Threadripper and 1080 TI rig. Thanks to Realizzer for support and demo license.
This work needs a ton of fine black magic powder called coffee, buy me one!

The lighting guy is the Meshuggah of lighting guys.
lol best comment.
Super underrated comment, right here.
hahahahaha sooo fucking True, Its like Wow, they are all good, then this fucking guy comes out and someone how singlehandedly plays every part of every instrument by himself with the ligths haha
That comment is so funny, I shat my pants..
Ahhh, best comment ever 🤣 so true...
meshuggah needs to play for the next olympics
quote of the century.
no need of steroids then.... meshuggah will pump athletes enough
bangasou12 meshuggah is the best metal band in the world🌏🌍
They won't do it because the athletes would end up not competing, cause who can compete with Meshuggah?
Seriously. Tomas Haake would sure as hell be world champion if drumming was an olympic event judged on power, precision and endurance.
Always knew it. The lighting guy is basically another member of the band ;D
That's for sure! Lighting polyrhythms all the way!
Just search meshuggah light guy, and be amazed
It’s all automated to time code drummer plays to.
nop
no it's not.
When people have a near death experience, it's said that they saw The Light. This must be it.
The only band I’ve ever seen live that almost gave me a seizure and I’m not even epileptic.
Future Breed Machine strobes are something of legend.
Check out Street Sects live shows
Holy shit. You literally turn the lights into a musical instrument. Incredible.
Xenophagia this would also be great if there were deaf people interested in attending. they’d have a hell of a blast
I'm a musician, have been for decades, and have done lighting before. This makes me want a career in it.
Seriously, exact same over here.
1:30 - Pure genius! Musicality in lighting at its finest.
Simply badass!
right! almost intoxicating to watch
Absolutely
Meshuggah are so talented they can just stand there with arms crossed and still slay…
As a drummer and musician I saw them in Atlanta ga and was blown away I also seriously have epilepsy I had to shut my eyes for the last half of the show bc the strobes where so intense however I came prepared and ready for it you can never be ready for a meshuggah show completely though I had to shut my eyes all through bleed and it gave me a whole new respect for the song to sit in the upper balcony of the theatre and listen to bleed played live omg
That light tech deserves nobel prize
It is beyond comprahension how this guy does it. I know that is not all programmed; he’s actually ”playing” the lights as the band plays. In comparison, other band’s light shows is like a 70s disco light panel, just randomly blinking lights. Absolutely amazing. Im proud to be Swedish!
I believe that he used to "play" the light live, but now it's programmed and synced tobthe click track
When the rotatable light move down with the guitars , is really cool.
Some people choose to take an opportunity and make something sublime, even if it takes tremendous effort. This is an example.
I've seen a fair few metal bands and this was by far the most impactful stage show of them all. I can't wait until Meshuggah comes around again. Metallica, Slayer, Rammstein... All their stage shows seem corny compared to this. Still good bands and fun to see but I'd see Meshuggah again over any of them.
Have you seen Cult of Luna live? Almost even better than this.
*Meshuggah* and *Rammstein* have the best live shows in music.
Honorable mention: Gojira
Only saw Meshuggah once, back in 2003 in Austin, at Stubbs. it's a small venue, and doesn't have support for lighting like this. But because of the size of the room, it was very intense. What made it even better was watching Strapping Young Lad open for them. I had only heard of SYL at the time, but never listened to them, but after that was a believer.
Putting that 1080ti to work!!
You are litterally like the best lighting dude ever
I've always loved how lighting guys could choreograph lighting to music but designing lighting for Meshuggah takes it to a whole other level......
The Israeli drummer guy’s video helped me get my head around this absolute beast of a song. Amazing
MESHUGGA lighting dude: check this out.
ME: stroke
I went to a Meshuggah show many hears ago, and I still remember thinking about how amazing the lights were.
I saw the show at Sylak festival, the best thing to do at this live set is staying quite far the stage to enjoy the lights, which to me was one of the most incredible audio-visual experiences I ever... exprerienced! Meshuggah need to put out a video of the full concert just in wide angle view!
You sir are the absolute best in the business, and I consider you the 6th member of the band.
This is absolutely insane and very well done. I’ve seen Meshuggah 5 times and I am even more excited to see them next year with Converge! 🖤🖤🖤🔥🔥🔥👍🏽🙌🏽
4:13 the magic appears
You have not yet heard anything truly extreme until you have heard Meshuggah.
I could watch an albums worth of this.. A whorl new level of going on into the meshuggah trance IMHO
300th subscriber here, comin in hot and getting way too excited to see some sick light stuff goin down
I'd love to see more of your work. This is great!!!
Oh man this is so damn awesome.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT ! this guy converted the fucking polyrythms into a pure show of lighting badassery !
Truly amazing to witness this live. I loved it
I would love to see more videos like this. Incredible work dude.
Love this song... in every sense
Gonna use this to light up my new year party. This is fucking captivating
This is just so incredible and a pleasure to watch - beautiful.
Thank you so much for sharing the incredible work that you do in support of such an amazing musical group. The combination of lights, music, and energy that goes into making a Meshuggah show has made it a truly ecstatic and unforgettable event for myself and thousands of other concert goers and music lovers around the world. Truly marvelous. Thank you.
Really great work! Still learning the fundamentals here. Your stuff is just next level!
An art form in and of itself...beautiful work.
This is some amazing work !
These lights were even cooler live. Cool job!
You're a genius man... it perfectly fits the vibe of this insane song
I'm gonna see them live in 4 days, this makes me even more excited. Insane.
Seriously, you have inspired me so much as a budding lighting artist. Thank you.
Really stoked to find your channel. Loved your work on the Violent sleep tour; the visuals just kept giving and giving throughout the set. I don't think I've seen a gig where the LX just seemed to be part of the band.
I'm glad this video exists to get a full view of their amazing lights! I wish they had a full set of these pre production lights!
1:30 Lighting genius at work, shows how brilliant people can turn the most unexpected things into real art.
Oh man this is amazing. Perfectly tied to the music tempo
Great job dude 👍
That is one heavy light show. Nice one!
Was waiting for this one!
this video gave me epilepsy and I'm so happy
det är fantastiskt, tack, edvard! väldigt inspirerande!
Here I am... watching lights... amazed.
Great work! I wish I could meet you all some day, greetings from Mexico, see you on may 3rd!
Bro this is majestic
You sir are as equally impressive as the band members, and a part that should never be out of it. Respect
I would KILL to see a production rehearsal if the pre-prod is so fucking good.
That is sick. In the best possible way. Brutal.
Wow, must be so fun to perform to this going off. Nice work
The lighting guy might as well be named a member of the band. Fuck I’m impressed
It's crazy how this sounds identical to the album version.
'cause it is thr studio version :_D
music aside i want to see mashuggah live just to see this lightshow.
Sweet light show.
You have my dream job buddy, absolutely inspirational.
Id love to meet you if you ever come to Australia mate.
I literally feel honored to view this. Fuck I’m not often speechless but this is awesome
This is spot on!
Faith in humanity restored! This guy is a god. Every band should aspire to have such a skilled tech among their ranks. I am in awe.
Edvard you badass ...keep it going 🖤
This is a pure work of art, absolute hats off to the lighting controller, as one myself, this boggles my mind as to how this is done
He’s either an amazing electrician or a terrible one and it just works for a metal show.
@@blackened872 this guy is known as the best in the business, he controls all the sequences by hand! Incredible work
Readman Rides I know I was literally just watching videos of him doing exactly that. Absolutely amazing.
@@blackened872 It's a sight to watch indeed.
Saw the show in Prague last night and this video (as good as it is) doesn't do the rig and programming justice. I was blown away.
Holy shit! That was insane!
The kings of metal drumming and polyrhythms
wow!! beautiful
If I had to pick a favorite Meshuggah track, this might be it. This whole album somehow seems to keep all the best elements of their past, but with a much more organic groove than Nothing/Obzen-era Meshuggah, which tended to be a bit too mechanical-sounding for my taste. I'd love to see Mesghuggah put out an album of the "old favorites," but mixed with their current sound standards, recorded live, as they did with The Violent Sleep of Reason album. Betcha it would sound *amazing!!*
Great job indeed!
I would pay to see this live even without the band! so fucking awesome!!!
I love your work and recently have started to try make my own lighting sequence for my band using QLC+ and midi triggers via a DAW. I did a pre production test yesterday and I found it looked really dull and over saturated at times. Do you how any tips on what Color combos not to use? Conflicts etc :) love your work!
this is amazing
This is one of the reasons they are in my top 5 bands in the world
Lighting is an artform in itself!
When someone says you can’t djent with lights
This could easily be the Official Music Video! INSANE!
This is better than the official video!
You know your light guy is good when you don’t even need the band to be there to be entertained 😆😆
Weirdly enough, this makes me understand the song better...
So sick.
Just...so sick.
I worked for my uncles lighting company for a number of years and, man, you are next level. The programing you do is incredible. Good work, sir.
Edit - The build up is incredible!
Pretty sure the guy doesn’t program it, I’ve seen footage of the guy tapping his fingers to every note on the control panel, dudes on another level.
@@ottertotter it's partly programmed. You program different patterns for the lights to follow and what gobos to use. You still have to run it with the buttons, though. However, a lot has changed since I was doing this so I could be wrong.
This is fucking crazy. Congratulations.
I would love to see a reaction video from the guys when they first saw this. Incredible.
tnx upload this awsome video.
OMG!
Eargasmic.
Eyegasmic.
A Meshuggah concert IS an Alien contact moment.
Holy shit! I saw this live in 2019 and see this now gives me goosebumps! (and the four guys in the front is even more scarier).
excellent. Im just missing some trippy lasers over the solo
Sin palabras, que cosa más impresionante
i resent that i found this and your channel today. this should be an official visualizer too
What always impressed me is that they have to play in perfect tempo in order to be in sync with the lighting.
Now i know that its the drummer's job to keep the tempo, but everyone makes mistakes live, but i've yet to see Tomas make a mistake or go off tempo.
Magnificent musicians, it would be an honor to see them live one time.
I sometimes hear of deaf or severely hearing-diminished people enjoying music mostly by the beat. I could picture a deaf person getting more out of a Meshuggah show than a hearing person would get out of Pink Floyd at the Planetarium. Feeling the beat in my chest coordinated so tightly with the visual impact would be a trip like no other.
The Pink Floyd Pulse of metal. Epic.
that is quite a statement to make :P
