- I always mention how my IBS is playing up... but what does having IBS actually feel like?
I thought I'd share how my IBS feels on a really bad day and on a 'good day' (if there is ever a good day with IBS!) Everyone's IBS is different, so here's my question to you: how does your IBS feel?

For me an IBS attack is like a mix between severe period pain, severe bloating and upset stomaches.😭
I’m figure out if I have it currently I have to go to a Gastro Person soon and this is kind of what I feel if you have any suggestions on how to deal with it and how to deal with the pain like the kind of pushing period cramp pain I would really be thankful for that because sometimes it’s so bad I feel like nothing or break down crying
Maisie Elliott When I get the bad period pain during an IBS flair up I find a hot bath/shower and then a hot water bottle on my stomach helps.
Also take some anti-inflammatories I found out that dairy was a massive trigger so I cut it out.
Lucy Breech thankyou I also am off dairy I really needed so help
Same 😔
Best description I can relate to.
Oh my God it feels good to hear that someone understands the depression side of IBS.
Since IBS began I slowly felt my personality and mood shifting to being low energy and irritable all the time, it definitely made my anxiety and depression worse and without me even realizing. The physical pain, the tense relationship with food, feeling unattractive, losing confidence and having to cancel plans which makes me feel like a flaky friend. And I feel like it has made my behavior seem more selfish and inward. It’s helpful to read other people’s comments and to know that we are not alone.

@@peace770love I know exactly what you mean, I have IBS-C and have been dealing with severe symptoms since I was born and it’s honestly hell living with them. I feel so relived knowing I’m not alone.
I totally get the sadness
I’ve had Chronic Long Term IBS (including Constipation and every other type and every single symptom in the book) ever since I was born. The amount of times being in the hospital hearing that the Doctors can’t do anything and will only give you a Panadol is just pain! Knowing that if I go to my doctor to talk to my specialist for other alternatives such as hypnotherapy or a medication which won’t harm my body is too much to ask for cause it’s not gonna happen. Because this issue started when I was born caused me to lose significant weight which attracts bullying. Causes all these mental thought :(
Like she explains in the video it causes fatigue all these issues, this causes me to go down in school life going from A’s to C’s and even D’s! Makes me frustrated that I’m unable to move.
I find IBS attacks stop me from having a normal day. As soon as I feel it coming, I know the next few days will be hell :(
Jessica Cuman i also hate how work and colleagues have no sympathy either 🤦🏻♂️

There are many components to over the counter irritable bowel syndrome relief. One plan I discovered that successfully combines these is the Stomach Oracle Omnibus (google it if you're interested) it's the most helpful plan i've seen. Check out the super info.
I've been investigating foods that trigger irritable bowel syndrome and found an awesome website at Stomach Oracle Omnibus (google it if you're interested)
Yes, same here...I might have a good hour, but not many good days..I nearly gets out...I have so many symptoms, but the fatigue is just as horrible...
Feel like I eat everything just to have it come back out again everyday it passing gas Constipation Diarrhea Stomach cramps bloating and my stomach making noises and when I do crap it’s like passing a brick through my but hole it’s unpleasant and Miserable
Amritapreet Singh this is exactly how I feel. Keeps me n the bathroom for long periods of time though and I literally have to push and push to pass gas which is painful. When I get the episodes of pain it doesn’t last long (maybe a minute) but it definitely stops you in your tracks of whatever you r doing. And they happen threw out the day. Smh 🤦🏾♀️ and I talked to my doctor about this but never has he diagnosed me with ibs, he ran lots of test and kinda fade the fact that I’m still hurting cause all my test comes back good
Mine is extreme bloating, stomach burning, and painful gas. And it’s super great alternating between diarrhea and constipation. At it’s worse, I was losing hair and always tired and dizzy. I love hearing from you girl it makes me feel less alone
Same, i feel dizzy and nauseous like all the time its frustrating :/
That's exactly how I feel everyday.
Andrew Hagan how do you cope with it?

I have IBS-C, and on a bad day "I'm a gas machine" too and it's horrible. A lot of my wardrobe I can't wear because I'm extremely bloated. My insides feel like bubbly dense concrete. It makes me feel very down and I can't seem to find joy in the day when I'm in so much pain. Other people don't seem to understand how exhausting and painful it is.
On my good days I'll still have mild pain and bloating. If I'm not constipated it's a miracle.
It's nice to know I'm not so alone in this.
@its me i understand you too lets talk? 😊
I don't care if I am alone or not I just want to get rid of this IBS constipation 😓😓 . Ever since this condition my life has never been the same . On top of it my parents consider that it's just normal and they don't care . They don't even remember I have issues . The worst thing is making plans for outside which I can't because I feel good only when at home in close proximity to washroom . I have been literally through hell . Many times I have even thought of ending my life .
For me, "I'm a gas machine" is literally true! When I have an IBS attack, its thunderous farts every 5-8 minutes, from anywhere to 2-6 hours, seriously. I have no idea how my body does it. But the colorectal spasms are the worst.
@@sarthaksingh6245 many of us feel the way you do. You’re not alone and this difficulty will only make you a stronger person. Its hard when you’re young and you don’t feel supported by your patents but as an older person I can tell you that that’s just a small period of your life and the only person that needs to love you and understand you is yourself. Look for medical help. That’s key and if that’s difficult at the moment try to have a very simple diet Ana see how that goes. What they say is to slowly reintroduce food so that you can establish what’s causing the symptoms. Also try to spend at least 15 minutes every evening meditating and being gentle with your tummy and yourself. That definitely helps me calm the flare ups on a regular basis. There’s always a way I promise and life is worth living 😊
I pray we all can encourage each other I'm suffering my self it's not easy 3 weeks for me

about it.
It spoils birthday get togethers,, Xmas , and many other days. If you don’t have it, people don’t understand when you say “ sorry can’t come over/ out today as I’m in pain”
On pain days I just lie down with a blanket on and try to sleep it away.
Some attacks last 4 days, for me and that entails hugging a water bottle and wondering what caused “ this bout” ......but I just carry on and be careful what I eat and try sleep:rest well x

An attack feels like I’m dying, intense pressure pain and liquid Diarrhoea. Sitting on the toilet 8 hours going 10x and sweating and dizzy. Daily symptoms chronic aches and soreness feels like food poisoning. Constipation feels like food is a brick with nails passing through me, but also feel really hungry so it’s frustrating. Low FODMAP helps but very difficult to stick to me safe reintroduced foods.
Dood yes the same for me the pain is like gripping and feels like a huge shard of glass moving through me or a heavy sharp rock moving through me !

Honestly. Same. But whatever happens try not to be on the toilet for so long, you can get a hemorrhoid, and the last thing you want is more pain.
I was recently diagnosed with IBS and it's so relieving and validating to hear you talk about yours because that's exactly how I feel. My mom didn't think I had IBS because I don't get diarrhea, I get severely constipated and bloated and the cramps are terrible.
This is super relatable. My mom is constantly telling me that I’m making it up and I’m like why would I make this terrible thing up?? You’re not alone!
I’m currently having constipation problem. How do you get better from constipation? Please respond
@@sadzebracarpetter8946 I’m not a specialist but here’s what helps me for ibs constipation:
1. Coffee (sounds simple but coffee and milk always got me going 🤣)
2. Magnesium (to relax the muscles, I take the nightly ones)
3. Fibre foods (however I’ve heard they may cause a lot of gas if taken in big quantities really suddenly)
4. Going off the previous ones I found these chewable candy like things that are a bit more gentle form of laxatives. They’re called Fruits & Fibres by Ortis. Not the best taste and smell but had me going to the toilet the next morning after a week of constipation
5. I’ve seen other people mention that eating fruits like apples, pears, kiwis, figs help them going to the bathroom, so maybe make a super smoothie 🤣
Also it’s important to not be too tense when going to the toilet, relax and don’t push too much if nothing is coming out

I was in tears throughout the whole clip, having an attack right now. My anxiety level when I feel bad is extreme and I get very scared which makes the whole experience so much worse. Reading the comments here opened my eyes, I'm not crazy and I'm not dying... Got diagnosed with IBS a few years ago, this is my first time hearing someone else's story and it's scary how I can relate 100%
How are you now?
I have been suffering with IBS for so many years. In the beginning I really wasn't sure what it was until I finally was diagnosed by a wonderful gastroenterologist in Atlanta, GA where I lived at the time. Gas, bloating, alternate bouts of liquid stool and constipation, intestinal pain, frequent bathroom visits until my anus was so sore I was experiencing pain and bleeding when I wiped! I also declined dinner get togethers with friend as I had to rush to the toilet frequently. Up and down to the bathroom during the night as well as daytime and on and on. Still dealing with it but have learned to accept it. I also suffer with diverticulosis and have had a large portion of my colon removed six yrs ago. Believe me, I feel for those of you who have been suffering.
What was the doctor's name I'm a Local also
Who was your doctor in ATL?
Thank you... I'm Definitely dealing with the same thing.. I'm getting so depressed, but I keep hoping it's something I can do to get better.. God Bless us All!! 🙏It's so hard to have a relationship 😢
My ibs makes me nauseous and I have actually threw up a meal I ate in front of my boyfriend and that happened when we were 3 months into our relationship. It scared him because I had cramps too. And after my vomiting attack I had never felt so tired in my life.
I can't eat onions, celery, bbq sauce, salad cream, strong cheeses, sweeteners and lots of other things. I feel you! From one becky to another. X
Oh my god, the sweeteners... jesus they are so hard to avoid now too.
MidnightFox I feel your pain, I’m sorry that happened to you. I’ve had IBS for years but in the past year I’ve been experiencing vomiting attacks more often, it’s actually become one of my main symptoms of a flare up. My nausea and the pain is so intense and unbearable that the only thing I can hope to do is to throw up to get some relief, but sometimes even that doesn’t help and I carry on feeling so nauseous after I’ve been sick. It’s worrying as well because the majority of people with IBS don’t experience vomiting, but for me it is very common. I’ve experienced more vomiting attacks now in the past year than I have gut issues for all the time I’ve been suffering with IBS. Sometimes it will come out of nowhere too, and I won’t know why it’s happened. It’s exhausting and when I’m experiencing it I feel so ill that I would rather die than be stuck in the moment. But eventually it passes and I feel so relieved, but I know that it’s going to come back at some point. I hate it.
@@prescottperfection6354 yeah exactly. I hope you are fine now. The feeling that it will come back is so annoying. I cannot even lie down flat as it makes the pain worse, so I have to sit.

When i have a bad flare up, my intestines hurt so bad, that the pain radiates into my legs and my back. The worst pain is in the lower right side of the abdomen, which gets even more painful every time i step on my right foot. Terrible terrible fatigue and dark thoughts overall.
However since i got the right kind of treatment it became a bit more managable and I do have more and more days without symtoms for which i am so so grateful...but it still comes back from time to time and messes up my day to day life...
What is your treatment?
@@girlygirl1242 back when i got diagnosed i had one whole moth of antibiotics and some ibs specific anti-inflammatory drugs (the names might differ in others countries so i don't think it will help telling) , and another month of probiotics. What treatments do you use?

I am having a huge ibs attack since yesterday...listening to you makes my aches a lot better. My IBS hurts mentally more than physically. Do you experience the symptoms regularly or most often? The heart palpitations .. do you have this when you're so stressed about it or when ibs flare ups?
IBS is easily curable through ayurveda(ancient methods for treating various disease in India)
If you want to cure ibs you have to take following medicine for aprox 4-6 month with strict diet and yoga poses but have no idea these medicine is available in your country but you can get these medicine from India if you have any friend or relative
- Bilvadi churan Or belgiri churan (1tabkespoon after meal morning and after dinner)
-kutajghanvati(2-2 tablets after meal)
-chitrakadi vati( " " " ")
-kurtajharista syrup ( 4 tablespoon with equal amount of water two time after meal) it's good to cure loose motion and you can take ishabol instant of this if you have constipation.
I was also suffer from IBS and now iam totally fine
Thank you 😊
100 percent how I feel Pray everything get better for all
The journey to diagnosis is hell too. For years, I've just been given all kinds of meds, it takes years before a doctor takes you seriously to send you off for more tests. The mental side of this illness is ... well thanks for explaining it all so well for all of us.
My IBS goes from diarrhea to severe constipation.
I’ll get so painfully constipated I’ve actually cried while on the toilet.
For those with that same issue. Drinking fiber Metamucil every day has really helped the constipation. It doesn’t cure IBS but it has been a huge help in the constipation department.
It has become almost like medication for me.
I hope that helps anyone with the same issue as me. God bless.
First its the gas, then the rumbling and stomach pain, then I cannot hold in my bowels, and i am running to the bathroom 8-15 times daily. Thanks for sharing Becky..I can relate 100%. Bad days - Extreme pain, the walls of the stomach feel so tight and sore almost like there is a knot in there. Bloating, belching and constipation almost everyday and YES you nailed it with the physical and mental fatigue (mental fog , low concentration and depressed feeling). Nausea and sensitivity to smells. Light headed. Productivity levels drop to almost 2% PHEW! It's a lot to deal with and other people around you are unable to get it. On good days...the pain is milder and comes at longer intervals...the swollen belly would be slightly deflated. The good days are very rare really. I wonder what causes it in the first place especially if you never had it until recently.

Thanksgiving is hell for me too. My family doesn’t understand my disease and they think I’m faking and/or should just get over it. They get angry when I don’t eat with the family but I know within 30 mins of eating I’m going to have to go home because of the pain so I try to wait as long as I can to eat. And then they get angry when I inevitably have to leave because they think I’m leaving too soon and my family usually has to leave with me cuz we all came in the same car. Then my family gets mad at me cuz I’m making my mom dad and brother leave early. It’s a clusterfu*k and it happens at almost every family meal.

Hi Becky. I'm a male, that I have been diagnosed with Diverticula disease in the past few years but also GERD and after many test have all concluded I have IBS as well. Your videos are great and people need to know how we feel. Because people who don't suffer have no idea what it feels like! It's a NIGHTMARE!!..
I'm recently diagnosed with IBS and it's been a living hell. Your video helped me explain to my family how I feel all the time now. The only difference is I get really bad morning rush and the mornings are almost unbearable for me. In the morning I get extreme intestinal spasms along with bloating and diarrhea and vomiting. On good days I feel on top of the world. I can do the things I need to do like clean and laundry and not be locked to the toilet.
It feels so validating to hear someone talk about things that you have experienced for years so candidly. I thought there was something wrong with me, so I never discussed my symptoms with anyone. I felt so ashamed. I love that we are all opening up about our experiences. IBS sucks ass but it feels so nice to know there's a community out there that understands what I go through and is there to support each other no matter what.
Thanks for the great video. So genuine and supportive to watch.
My experience is that I mainly get affected by bloating, especially trapped gas.
It used to be acute pain but now more of a discomfort. During the day it makes me feel drowsy and irritable and physically uncomfortable. The worst though is at night when I am going to bed. No matter how tired & sleepy I am it will just keep me up until it “passes out”. That often means no falling asleep until 5 or 6 am or not at all. Sometimes the pressure in the large intestine travels all over the body and causes weak muscles, sleepy leg and throbbing left arm, and also can make it hard to breathe normally. The pain sometimes gets acute like something is blocking my intestine. It feels like it is twisted on itself and obstructing passage.
I would say changing my diet helped to improve symptoms the most. None of the prescriptions I was given my doctors helped at all.
I heavily reduced bread and other starchy carbs, cakes and sweet things. Now I barely eat sugar, try and stick to gluten free, egg free and dairy free, no deep fried food, but eating unprocessed and simple foods. I tried a vegan diet for a few weeks and it seemed to help a lot too.
Lots of water helps and also taking exercise, if anything for keeping an alert mind and positive mood. Walking and jogging are known to be good for digestion.
IBS is always there. I try to keep enjoying food by practicing intuitive eating: what kind of meal/snack I feel I need And eating only when I am feeling at least a little bit hungry. I get bad air when I eat when I am too hungry or when I am pressured to eat when I’m not hungry. What helped a lot is to not overeat, and not to mix too many components together (for example I can eat some bread on its own, but not if it’s in a burger) I rather eat the burger with no bun and it’s fine.
How are you now?
Thank you for this video, I've only made it 3 mins in and I'm already feeling less alone and more reassured. That thoughts of "this is my fault" or "why does this happen to me" have really been getting to me today. I get so fatigued and no one I know experiences anything like this, they think having a low FODMAP diet is funny, and they don't realise it can go on for DAYS. Next time I'll happily link this video, because you say it better than I can. Especially about wearing fitted clothes! Argh
You described my symptoms exactly. I would only add that it is even more depressing when you talk with the doctors and they look at you and you feel as you are talking nonsense. Thank you for sharing. 🙏
I get the worst pain in my upper stomach for days or maybe like 3 weeks, stress makes it worse and worse and I live with anxiety on a daily basis and it really makes it worse. I’m nauseous like 90% of they day and can’t take poo for a couple of days or I have bad diarrhea. It really sucks and you really get depressed from it because I literally can’t even go to school because of the pain or if I’m nauseous or if I feel just shitty because of my ibs. I’m just 17 and I I’m recovering from anorexia and when I first started recovering that’s when I started getting the worst pains and then a couple of moths later I got diagnosed with ibs. It sucks and I really hope it will get better one day.
I have exactly these problems. I was worried because other people weren't saying any symptoms of nausea or vomiting or the upper stomach pain. I'm SO glad someone else has the same things as me
It is the most intense severe cramping pain! My husband doesn't understand it, when I'm awake at 1 or 2am crying an rocking back an forth trying to get it to dull down. It's a toss up between constipation or diarrhea! I absolutely hate it! Over the yrs it's got worse instead of better, and I can't eat dairy, which I still crave ice cream, but dairy, greasy food, lettuce, spicy food, and here lately within the last 4 months I can't eat hamburger meat anymore. If I do the cramps are so severe! I am so glad I found your channel bc finally a community who understands the IBS curse
I’m not sure how or when I got IBS, I think it’s a condition (for me) from healing from aneroxia. My body had been so used to starving that it forgot how to digest food, and so when I started the recovery process my bowels have not been the same sense. Anyway I have IBS the one that gives you really bad diarrhea. Basically I can be fine for days/weeks and then all of the sudden I have immense pain and extreme diarrhea. It will be so random to: in class, at work, at home. It comes so sudden and so painful. My doctor gave me medicine for emergency situations that will stop the diarrhea and that helps but I’m left with bad gas and then sometimes the next day it comes back. Sometimes I have diarrhea multiple days in a row and it’s painful! Completely wipes me out so much so that I literally almost faint and I’m shaking so bad. I just wish people understood more that this is a real condition and can severely affect the individuals life. I feel bad when I have to cancel plans due to an IBS flair up.
IBS can be cured permanently believe me. I had suffered IBS for 6 years and now i have cured myself 100% There is no need to pay even a single dollar to anyone. They just want to mint money.I can help You and don't worry I don't charge anything just a step towards humanity

I have the same as you. Just came from two doctors with this...
I have the exact same I thought I was the only one. No one understands me
You have literally described exactly what goes on in my body on a nearly daily basis. It's so refreshing to hear that I'm not the only one with these symptoms (I know I'm not...but sometimes you do feel you're going through it entirely on your own, people without IBS just don't 'get it', and I'm sure they're so bored of hearing me moan about it)...mentally it is so good to have people out there and places of information to go to, to help feel supported and understood! Thank you 😀
I feel like you IBS people are my family ,I swear :)

@@lizziebinx1351 awww so sweet of you..
I was recently diagnosed with IBS and it feels good to know I’m not alone!😌
Me too.
Hi Becky and all fellow IBS sufferers. For me I feel like my bottom is about to combust! Like you, mine is all to do with constipation. Once relieved of passing a stool, instead of it helping, the cramps and spasms after passing last for several hours after. I often shiver and feel cold, even on a hot day! I want to go to sleep almost immediately and have 'brain fog' for most of the time. I often resort to taking Buscopan as I feel that helps with the spasms and the bloating. Sometimes I also get terrible heartburn too. I think there is a misconception that being careful about what we eat effects our gut, but often what is good for our gut is not always good for our bowels. I do not always think they work together, and certainly not in harmony. The mucus after passing a stool is frightening when it first happened to me. I had heard that a few drops of peppermint oil on to a tissue and then inhaling the odour/vapour is good for relieving brain fog. I have yet to try that but if someone reading this has tried it, perhaps they could share it with us. It is a miserable existence. I am going through the menopause and it seems all areas of my body are under attack. It is hard most days. I find my stomach is calm for about 2/3 days, then I get a massive attack of it and then I reach for the antacid tablet or Buscopan. After that I am fine again. Mornings are the worst for me too. As soon as I take a shower I can see my stomach growing like a football and attempting to put on clothes for work (anything that has to go around my waist) is my worse nightmare! It is very hard to pinpoint what triggers these attacks when I follow your recipes for good low fodmap foods. I avoid spices, onions, garlic. I have no idea what else to eliminate as often I just feel I have to live with this and accept it. No two bodies are the same, we all feel it's affects in different ways. Thank you for your honesty and sharing is a good way of knowing we are not alone. It is a taboo subject for many as It is so 'embarrassing' to discuss. If more of us suffer in silence we will only harm ourselves in the long run. So thank you for making it easier to share our experiences without being judged. No one is here to judge anyone, just share experiences. I feel there will never be a cure, no magic pill, potion or lotion will end this. It is something we sufferers have to accept and learn to control.
I'm. Hoping for. Miracles. !!! I can't. Function. With this. Never know what the. Day will. Bring either. !! Ugh I. Hate. It. No social. Stuff. With pain. And. The. Poops. Wanting. To. Just. Pull my. Hello Karen
Thank you for sharing your experience !! I was shaking my head up and down to like 80 percent of what you where saying because it’s exactly the same for me ! Honestly I’m here because I’m seeking help with my situation I feel I am suffering from chronic IBS symptoms though I have not been diagnosed yet I feel my symptoms match almost identical to yours ! For me I don’t have that many good days the good days are so rare and far between ! I have found recently some things that are now helping me cope . One thing I highly recommend everyone who is experiencing these symptoms to start a food diary ! This has helped me ten fold by pin pointing exactly what it it’s that I’m eating that my body isn’t okay with ! So far my research has concluded that I cannot eat dairy of any kind even in small amounts my body is affected. I also found that I cannot drink carbonated drinks every time I indulge in one I am so bloated I can’t stand it it feels like I’m going to explode from my lower belly and it’s like beyond uncomfortable and it’s excruciating. Another trigger for me is chocolate 😥😭🥺 .............. *long sigh and pause* I already can’t eat cheese my one true love in life and now I can’t tolerate chocolate either 💔 so girl I completely get you when you say that this condition can make you feel super down ! I have on and off depression and sometime it stems from the fact that I can’t eat the things I love without being in excruciating pain :( . Side note I also suffer from PTSD and was professionally diagnosed when I was in high school and I have read that people with IBS often also have PTSD so it’s more than important for me to get good sleep and manage my stress levels as best I possibly can this definitely helps in managing my pain ! It feels comforting to know that other woman out there who are “roughing” it through their daily lives doing their best to manage their daily pain and I’m right there with you! There’s some days I can manage the pain and some day I have to call in sick from work because it’s to the point I cannot get out of bed unless I need to drag my body to the toilet to relieve myself. Those are the hardest days of my life . My job understands what I go through so that are really flexible with me but for the most part I just suffer through the pain at work and try to just step away if I get a sudden pain attack . For me the pain comes in waves just like the ocean . It’s a slow burning pain that slowly dissolves away eventually and not all cases are the same some time I get shorter recovery times in between pain and sometimes the pain lasts a lot longer and the recovery time is slower . When the pain is at its maximum it’s like no position you can put your body into helps relieve the pain it’s just gripping at you and pulling at you and almost feels like a black hole is forming within your body . It causes me to break out into a sweat ! Sometime I breathe heavily from pain . I’ve been to several doctor in the past for symptoms relating to IBS but NEVER will they diagnose me and I’m not sure why ?! I’ve had multiple cat scans done and had to take a few trips to the ER because the pain was making me want to pass out and when I got to the ER they told me I simply had diarrhea .Prescribed me an anti-diarrheal and told me to rest for the rest of the day and drink water I asked them to please diagnose me or point me into the direction of a diet that they would recommend for me and they didn’t wanna have the conversation at all they told me I needed to go to an expert which is understandable but after looking at my record collectively overtime like I wish the doctor would just be like girl yes you have it like this is what you should do blah blah blah you know? I feel sometimes like doctors are so useless and I’ve gotten myself into some debt from these medical bills and it just adds to the depression girl bleh ! My only happiness is the love and support of the people I love in my life ! Elimination of items in your diet that could be causing your flareups is essential in my opinion and it’s honestly helped me out so much by just simply taking those three items out it’s made a dramatic difference . I’m still learning about what’s affecting me and it’s ongoing honestly but I feel the more I learn the better I feel !
How are you now?
@@Hialeah1925 I’m doing a lot better! I’ve made huge improvements by cooking more meals at home so I can control what food I’m eating to down to the recipe. I avoid all spicy food otherwise I’m in trouble again and I don’t indulge in dairy foods unless I take an enzyme pill to help me process it and I feel this has helped greatly but I still can’t do too much dairy foods back to back . Also I gave up caffeine except for the occasional Dr Pepper and I’ve noticed by limiting my caffeine intake it’s helped me so so much !

The pain for me is similar to extreme period cramping. Sharp, stabbing pain in my lower abdomen, lower back and right side. Then I fluctuate between constipation or diarrhea. Seldom ever have normal stools. Excessive gas. Pain is usually relieved after a movement, but only temporary. This has only been an issue for me for the last few years.
Same :(
Extreme reaction to high fodmap foods (garlic and onion) feel intense pain, sweat a lot, go incredibly dizzy to the point of nearly passing out, my vision goes weird, I'm on the loo for up to an hour. It's horrendous, feel like I'm dying and that's not an exaggeration. Everyday going to the toilet is physically painful as I have lasting damage from constipation. I totally relate to you saying the only time you feel well is when you're distracted and not thinking about it, I like to keep very busy! I also can feel extremely tired after eating, I could happily go to sleep after my lunch. So glad I'm not alone, I wish there was more awareness of how severe IBS can be, and how physically and mentally draining it is. Thank you for your videos x
Falling asleep after eating and spending so long in the toilet has cost me jobs. I am literally homeless right now. I also have autism, depression, anxiety , chronic pain, insomnia (I might sleep maybe 8-10 hours a WEEK) and I got turned down for disability.
Thanks for the video and sharing your story of Ibs. I have Ibs with chronic constipation and it causes overflow and is part of the symptoms of Fibromyalgia. I really understand what you are going through. The pain in my upper Abdomen is horrendous it's so bad even when the hospital injected me with Morphine it still was sore and that only took the edge off. Like you my abdomen really distends out into like a big hard lump and it takes days to go down and the pain is unbearable when this happens. I am having a flare up now when I write this. Everyday Ibs effects me but at certain times it flares up so bad I just am screaming in agony and just need to get to bed with a hot water bottle. I never feel better after the loo it makes it feel worse. Basically my digestion is non existant. I try techniques like massage and visualisation which I use to help calm me. Nothing really takes it away and no matter what I eat it doesn't help. The only way to get through is to take each day as it comes and celebrate the few good days. Sending healing hugs your way thanks again for sharing xx

I have only been struggling with ibs for a few years but as it seems to get worse as the months go on all I can think of is that I would never ever even wish ibs on my worst enemy. Ibs is pure, absolute living HELL
I have my endoscopy on this coming Tuesday to figure out if I have gluten intolerance, but my GI doc thinks I might have IBS. I went gluten free for one month during December, and I felt a little better but once I removed garlic and such from my diet I felt much better. Since then I’ve been eating as much gluten as I can and been on a “normal diet” for the procedure. I’ve had so much Nausea, drowsiness, cramps and bloating for weeks and it literally will not go away. (Also I’ve also been a gas machine too lol! My husband hates it 😂) Hopefully I’ll get an answer soon so I can finally live my life without so much awful discomfort.
When I was in labor with my son, the contractions literally felt similar to the cramps I experience with IBS!
Yess , I 100% agree !!
Hello Melanie
Everyone here is talking about Ibs attacks as in attacks that come and go but I'm constantly in that state?
Me too
Yes me too, I m constantly bloated, just early morning seem to be less bloatedthan as the day carries on. Feel so bad can't wear the clothes I want anymore😥 and that feeling of bloating all day..
I feel you Becky, I am a 39-year old man who just started experiencing IBS. It’s good to know that I am not the only one out there.... At what age did you start experiencing IBS?
I'm so happy to have found this video, as well as several other IBS videos on UA-cam. I struggle with my own symptoms, but I have found things that can help!!!
1. Identify your triggers! This can be so freaking annoying, especially when you find out you can't have one of your favorite foods anymore. When I started cutting out dairy, fried food, onions and garlic, I stopped having super bad attacks for the most part.
2. OTC drugs!!! Whenever I do get symptoms, strong or mild, I'll take Gas-X or Mylanta. And if I'm having bad diarrhea, I've learned not to be afraid of Imodium and other generic brands.
I'll also sometimes take Gas X if I'm in a situation where I either give in to a craving and eat a trigger or if I accidentally eat a trigger, BEFORE my symptoms start.
3. Hot tea! Peppermint is the best for dealing with IBS but green tea also doesn't hurt occasionally.
4. Take care of your mental health! Stress makes everything so much worse, learning how to relax and calm down has stopped me from having so many bad attacks. Therapy, meditation, music, etc. All of it is great. Even just learning breathing exercises helps.
5. Know that you are not alone and this is not the end of the world 💖
WOnderful list!
Thanx so much for this video. You just described my bad days with IBS. The low FODMAP diet helps me control the symptoms but there has not been a day without Some discomfort for months. Again thank you so much for sharing.
The bloating has to be the most aggravating part of IBS. Thank you for making this!
I've had massive IBS for a week now. I've always had trouble with my digestive system, but now it's on a whole other level. Fatigue, dizziness, foggy head, anxiety, pain, bloating and pressure. I really hope this doesn't last forever. Waiting for it to pass. But now that I'm doing research, I'm beginning to have doubts.
How are you now ?
@@angelspence2565 I began taking prebiotic everyday. It has helped tremendously. I have a an occasional flair up. For which I have prescribed medication. Thanks for asking.
@david what kind of probiotic do you take ?
The struggle is real. Feels like there is a bowling ball in the bottom of my stomach pressing against my back and bladder/genitals at the same time. I have had to give up dairy. Even too much cheese aggravates it. I drink almond milk, but lately it seems to trigger me too. It is so very frustrating to say the least.

I think I have ibs too and Drs also mentioned about it to me before very long ago. In recent years, the type of pain I get is much much worse. I have the diarrhoea type. If I drink milk the previous night, I wake up at 3, 4am with abdominal pain that feels like my intestines are "pulling". The abdominal pain feels very sharp, sometimes tears roll down my face enduring the pain. The pain relief when I had poop or diarrhoea. Usually diarrhoea follows after the sharp abdominal pain. I would have diarrhoea about 2 to 3 times and felt better and go back to sleep. Only to wake up tired because my sleep was disrupted for that 2 hours of sharp pain. The pain occurred on the "entire abdominal" and felt something pushing outward, bloated, sharp pain that made me curl up in bed in pain. The pain would relief with diarrhoea or bowel movement. I usually get this attack after drinking milk, soya milk, and yesterday I had a Greek yogurt for lunch and at night I woken up by abdominal pain. The w
pain was not very bad with yogurt. But the pain was worse with milk. When my menses is coming around 7 to 10 days before my period, I would have alot of gas, and bloating, and this abdominal cramps. I think this is IBS, can anyone relate to my symptoms? Is this IBS diarrhoea type?
Depressed, tired all day, bloating and lots of pain every day
I can't even walk when my IBS acts up. My legs 🦵 are shaking, my stomach is shaking and rumbling. I look 👀 5 months pregnant 😖 The pain is off the charts 😰

Its so nice hearing someone actually describe the symptoms exactly, ive been thinking im dying of something 🤣
OMG you just described everything I’ve been feeling! I was beginning to think I was going crazy! I used to be able to eat anything, no problems….now I’m worried every time I eat something.
It's so nice to see other people deal with this! I was diagnosed with it 2 years ago. My drs told me to just avoid certain foods and drink lots of water.
Sadly, there is so much more you can do!
My IBS has improved a lot, since I eat more fruit and vegetables. Sometimes a bit painful, but I have a lot less problems recently.
Ibs has made me unable to live my life normally, I've tried changing diets and changing my entire lifestyle. I'm on the toilet around 7 hours a day every single day with burning acidic liquid diarrhea. I would give anything for a change. I've been stuck at home even before covid started because of how awful my ibs has been. I just want my life back. Kudos to all of you going through hard times. Stay strong.

What tests did they do to diagnose you? My doctor wants to do colonoscopy, cat scans but I am afraid of going out because of covid
@@lizziebinx1351 Honestly a doctor/hospital is pointless. They do all these test on you and find nothing. Your better off spending some more money for a professional.

Thank you SO much for making these videos. I’ve had IBS for over 14 years, but since no one else ever said anything, I’d always thought I was alone. I was recently searching the Internet for other people that could relate, as I don’t know anyone personally, and luckily I came across your videos. Surprisingly, there are only 2 people on youtube, that I’ve found, who talk about this and you are one of them! Your symptoms are unfortunately so relatable, but it is extremely reassuring to know that others out there understand the struggle. Please keep sharing your journey, as it helps so much to lessen the stigma around speaking up about IBS and not going through it alone! I can’t thank you enough for sharing!
It feels like a huge balloon is moving through my bowels bruising all my intestines as it moves through. Leaves my whole belly bloated and bruised with the occasional stabbing pain as my bowels move. Trying to pass gas or pass stool or sometimes even pee is gut wrenching. Literally

I've had IBS for many years and it seems like it is getting worse lately the older that I get. I know that tomato sauce is one of the things that can set me off and also some vitamins and supplements can crank me up, and of course stress and worry is so bad too. The last few months I have been getting so gassy and have painful belching especially at night after I've been lying down sleeping for awhile. It does cause fatigue and can play mind games too as this lady says and can cause MANY symptoms that people wouldn't think that it can!
I hope all can get some relief, this is very tough to deal with and at other times I'm fine. God Bless......
I come back to your vids regularly, especially when I want to listen to someone I can relate to. It's comforting. You feel less alone in a flair up.
How is your IBS these days? Would love an update.
After years and years I was finally diagnosed with IBS (I thought the pain was to do with my ovaries) and I do get back physical pain but it is nowhere near what happens to my brain. Thank you so very much for addressing the mental pain and embarrassment that goes along with this! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
I know what you mean about your head feeling foggy. When I get my pain, it feels like I am not in reality because of the horrible sharp pain. When I get the pains, I feel it in my intestine (lower abdomen) and I literally feel like it is going to explode! I was driving earlier today and started getting symptoms of the pain. I almost pulled over because of the sharp unbearable pain... I even had a thought that I might need to call 911.. lol. I had that feeling of "holy s*** I feel like my intestines are going to explode", but the pain eventually left and my tummy made weird, only to come back again like a repeated unbearable cycle until I got to the nearest toilet. Luckily I don't get many bad days, but when I do, it is the WORST.
Omg exactly the same with me ,I feel my bowels will EXPLODE ,they spasm so hard ,I am scared they will break ,hurts unbearably
The pain for me goes away after pooping ,but omg does it hurt ugh
This video had given me some clarity with IBS. I feel like this completely takes over my life. I can't eat anything...lol everything flares it up! Food, dairy, coffee, sweets, alcohol all of it disagrees with my gastrointestinal system. Uuughh! It's embarrassing and so frustrating to live like this. I get this stomach attack suddenly when I'm at work, out with friends and driving. It will start to cramp my stomach with bloating, belching and gas pain in my upper and lower abdomen.😖Then that's when the explosion happens.🥴 I don't need to say it we all know it's a wrap! Time to 🏃 Lord help me!😩 I really need to go to a specialist real soon. I wish everybody that suffers like me the best! Take care of yourself.

Wow thank you tell us about your IBS. I've been strugguling to relieve my IBS symptoms since 10 years and I totally agree with all you are saying. It's good to know that I'm not alone and people can understand. I am a positive person, but it drains so much of my energy in my "bad days/weeks".
Hello Tina
I feel your pain.... I have migraines, IBS and panic attacks. IBS is awful. At least migraines don't debar me from my daily life. I cannot even leave the town easily or go far from home... It's so difficult to travel, work, even study for exams let's say. If I get anxious I have flares. It controls so terribly my life which is not sustainable. After IBS I can say that panic attacks are the next worse because I feel that I am dying and I have developed claustrophobia and agoraphobia. But at least when I get one it's not there all the time. IBS is more persistent. Oh and btw my panic attacks can easily trigger IBS. At least if I could get rid of it I wouldn't mind to control and manage somehow migraines and anxiety. I really feel that the aforementioned are disabilities and challenges for me and for so many people out there... 😔😥😓😢I am getting desparate. But at least I remember that we're not alone...
I have been taking probiotics at 100 billion cfus and after a few months it has helped me tremendously. Just leaving this here as a FYI for anyone struggling with it. It's worth a shot!
