My IBS has basically taken over my entire life, I’m constantly in pain which triggers my anxiety because I am scared to go anywhere because I’m scared there may not be a bathroom or I might get too stressed and my family and boyfriend might get annoyed because of my stress, I just feel hopeless but watching your video made me feel less alone. Thank you so much
@@Србомбоница86 I was given some from the doctor, but it increased the pressure in one of my eyes so much so that it started to impact my sight. I control mine (to an extent) through diet, it isn't perfect but it's a little more manageable
It’s been a year and I forgot what it’s like to be my happy self I used to be. I can’t eat without anxiety and fear of the pain I’ll be in after. I’m so jealous of my friends who go to McDonald’s everyday and eat 10 nuggets and large fries everyday and have no pain while I eat an orange and get horrible stomach ache and diahrrea.
Yeah when I go to college my friends eat like this and I try to but it just makes me bloat and leaves me constipated for around 3 days . I’m trying to change my diet but it’s almost like anything just triggers it and leaves me feeling uncomfortably full . We love that ✌🏻
Olivia Wannan oh yes it’s such a pleasant feeling ✨🧚♀️. Recently I’ve been put on the “FODMAP” diet by my doctor, and it’s very restrictive and hard to stick to, but it’s so worth it. I’m on my 3rd week (it’s. 6 week diet) and I’m finding myself craving junk food that triggers me less. But it’s basically a diet where you eliminate all possible triggers (there are plenty of lists of what you can and can’t eat online) and then after 6 weeks you slowly re introduce those foods until you know exactly what your triggers are and what to stay away from! So far I figured out I am sensitive to eat lactose (by a few months ago I could totally fine but it suddenly got worse for some reason), and vegetable oil. Which makes so much sense because most fast food has high amounts of vegetable oil. While on this diet I’ve had far less horrible stomach aches. Like way less. I know I have more triggers I just haven’t found them yet. I also struggle with constipation so I take miralax (or restoralax) every day. It’s a laxative that does not cause dependence because it isn’t a stimulant laxative like other laxatives are. It’s one that simply draws water to the stool to keep everything soft. I hope this helps
Brooke Elyse ahh I’m glad to hear that’s helping . My doctor told me to look up the FODMAP diet but did not really explain to me what it is . I can not cut everything out completely like it says to ( especially with the pandemic making it harder to get food regularly ) and also with items being sold out . I have been trying to avoid gluten and dairy for around a month . I have eaten gluten a couple of times ( once by accident ) . I am also trying to avoid eggs now too . I have found that flax seeds have been helping with the bowel movements and also more exercise and fruit . I crave so many things though and I never have any healthy lunch ideas or any at all really I can make . I also have rennie after most meals . I hope you find all your triggers . I end up feeling full after not even eating much because of bloating and it’s so annoying because I want to eat and enjoy meals without stressing . I think I have the same lactose issue as you too though and also gluten ✨✨
omg i feel u that’s exactly how i feel this year (first year for me w it took it rlly sucks and i hope you find helpful techniques :( i just started taking benefiber which actually has been helping since i have the same symptoms as u so u should try it!!
Mee to from the last three years I have been suffering greatly😊. Whenever I think it's better it again become worse and hits me with pain, my frnds have junk food daily n I could not even have a lunch at restaurant, I feel inferior to them every time always get shy because of this disease 🙂🙂. I have gone to every dr and what they say that it's not a disease and it will not heal cmpltly, I can't understand why the hell they can't work on ibs to make better medicines which would improve the intestines. My life has changed its course because of Ibs, I never feel happy or energetic 🙂🙂. I have spend nights crying 😭😭😭. I feel like I should have some other disease instead Ibs🙂🙂. It's a curse for me, I can never see myself healthy again and this breaks my heart 💔.
Mandi Arcane me too. People always tell me to figure out what is causing it, stay positive, everyone has struggles and I’m like I get that but try living in pain
You're right, I've friends that get upset because I'm the only one who can't have pizza or mc. I always say: "Get what you want, I'll bring my own things to eat" but also this bothers them. It seems that the problem is theirs, not mine...
It's so hard when people don't believe you either, or tell you "I'm sure it's bad but just power through, it'll pass" like no. I literally have a stomach all the time. It never ends, there is no power through sometimes because by the time I'm actually talking about how it hurts, it's cause it's severe and I can't take it anymore
I understand how you feel but most people don't even know nothing about it they should learn about it so they could deal with people that have it, good , Barbara Gray commenting
IBS for me is not constant. It comes around every few months and destroys my entire life when I have it. I have noticed that the flair ups often correlate with extremes of emotion, exam periods, holidays. It is horrible, I cannot walk standing up straight, the pain is unexplainably extreme to the point where I consider going to A&E! I get IBS-C. The pain is awful where I can't even focus on my work or sit in a chair, lying in fetus is the only way through. Often after a week it is over, and I start to forget about my disease again. Sometimes it quickly comes back, maybe only a week later. Other times months later it reappears back into my life. The thing that sucks is people misunderstanding the illness - it is NOT period cramps, it is NOT me overreacting and it is NOT my diet choices!
Hi Alec, totally agree and feel for you as I know exactly what you are going through. It is totally impossible to concentrate or do anything when it gets really bad yet nobody does understand properly. I really struggle with work because of it, I just have to pretend nothing is wrong but I am in constant pain. I think stress is a massive factor, so I always hate when people say stuff about stress not really being an issue that can affect the body - it can! I hope you are getting on ok at the moment, let me know if you find anything that helps you out more xx
hey ,if anyone else is searching for best medicine for ibs try Mackorny Defeat IBS Blueprint (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my neighbor got amazing success with it.
Hi, this is a very well presented video. Thank you. I'm Elizabeth and I'm a new IBS patient but it started in 2017 but I thought it was side effects of my strong antidepressants as I have Clinical Depression. IBS is ruling my days and nights now. I have all the symptoms that Becky describes here. It's a comfort to know I'm not alone. The pain and the bloating are the worst symptoms to endure. I'm in bed. I don't want to get up. I have a psychiatrist nurse who helps me keep my mood elevated but, basically, I'm a professional artist who wants to get back into the studio!!!!!!!
Peter Darley truly I know what you’re going through ❤️ and it really does help to know others can relate I’ve had mine pushing 7 years now but hold on there are good days and bad days. I really can empathise with your point about pain and bloating I’m currently going through it right now so I have criminal minds and green tea 😂🥰 I love to write stories so I’m glad I can continue my passion while ill except for the times when it’s too painful to do anything :(
I used to be very anxious in school but my symptoms started coming in last year of schooling and still have....try meditation if you haven't tried yet, it will help.
I feel exactly like you, but most times I eat anyway and suffer later because I just don't know how to live without eating pretty much anything!! So frustrating...
I definitely struggle socially. I feel like people don't understand IBS. People say i'm being 'fussy' by not eating certain things but it not being fussy, it's not a free choice; it causes me pain for days!
Aw Ashley, I'm so sorry to hear that. If you ever need to chat please let me know. I find chatting helps. You shouldn't be living a life like that. Big hugs xx
I know how you feel. I was doing so well, and had a plan for life. Now I can barely leave the house, rarely see my friends. Couldnt continue going to school, and now the only jobs i am qaulified to apply for are always jobs that would be extreamly difficult to do with my problem. There is not that. Much oppurtunity where I live for people with anxiery and ibs. I am trying to eat healthier, but my family keeps getting unhealthy food and i cant stop myself despite trying so hard for the last 10 years. I spent years of my life thinking i am going to be doomed to disability and barely existing. Oddly enough i could bare with that but i have high achiving friends and nothing feels worse then watching them advance in their plans, while i am sitting here with this ball and chain holding me back. One day I am going to be free of this ailment. And i am going to enjoy every second of being outside.
@@spikelee2818 my best advice to you is consume nothing but water and whole foods. (Nothing proccessed) and exersise every day hard. Doing those things can go a long way.
IBS is quite a struggle for me as well. My symptoms flare up randomly and with no warning. Going to work (and riding the metro with no bathrooms into and out of the city) is always worrisome. Foods that I can normally eat suddenly trigger major constipation, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. For a foodie, it’s really disheartening. The worst is that gastrointestinal problems are not talked about as much as they should be, so it can be embarrassing to try to explain to coworkers and friends why I look like I’m in pain, why my stomach makes disruptive noises, and why I need to visit the restroom so often. Thanks for sharing your story, it helps to relate to someone and know that you are still able to have fun and live well with the condition.
I suffer from all those problems. Work causes so much anxiety for me. I have to sit next to my manager, and next thing you know, my stomach starts groaning, or I need to constantly go to the toilet. I miss working from home sometimes 😞
I'm so thankful that you made this video! I was diagnosed with IBS earlier this year, and I've had such a difficult time adjusting to the way life is now. One of the hardest parts for me has been trying to adjust my social life because many of my friends don't seem to understand. Luckily for me, it runs in my family, so they all understand. It always helps to know other people are having the same problems!
Yeah definitely, if I didn't have Mark I think I would struggle a lot more. People try to be understanding but a lot of people I find just really don't get it. They just tell me they are bloated too... but IBS is so much more than that!
IBS is the worst pain I've ever felt in my life. I was diagnosed a couple of years ago with this plague and my god.. It doesn't happen too often but when it does it feels like my insides are being ripped inside out. I literally can't do anything when it flares up. It gives me diharrea, naseau, stomach cramps that feel like I'm being stabbed repeatably, loss of appetite. It's that bad that i xqnt walk or stand up properly. The toiilet is my best friend when it comes down to IBS and endures the many many hours I'm stuck on the toilet awaiting the pain to go away.
I feel this video so much. IBS is so mentally and physically straining and I feel like I find new symptoms of stomach pains every single day. My IBS bothers me every day and it seems everything I eat hurts my stomach in some way or form; I wake up and immediately feel pain. Just last night, I woke up with anxiety and my chest was hurting-for a moment I thought I was experiencing symptoms for a heart attack but it ended up just being my IBS and Acid Reflux. Never felt those sensations of being faint and clammy in the middle of the night, with muscle pain nearby, so it was concerning. Hope everyone is coping somehow in their own ways.
I've got it to and it's ruining my life! I already have depression&anxiety and living with this brings me down even more! NOONE understands me even tho you think they do they just dont😓
Aw I completely understand, in a way I think nobody can truly understand except you and others who have it too. It's difficult, but keep smiling, it might be worth going to the doctors and asking for a dietician appointment, not always useful but they might be able to help you. Lots of love from me xx
I’ve had it for 20 years I lost some friends too and jobs, but you are not alone and you can figure out how to control it too. We all have different triggers. I thought I was alone with this but I found out so many ppl have it. Find your triggers for it and try to stay positive. You are not alone
Cerys Howley the thing is that it’s an evil circle, you get IBS because you’ve anxiety, and you’ve anxiety because you’ve IBS. So then your IBS gets worse because you don’t feel good :(
@@jairajfitnessgym-tilakwadi2366 try mebeverine,it's anti spasmodic for intestines ,30 minutes before every meal take 1 tablet ,so that's 3 tablets a day of mebeverine
@Abukenyo Ibs can be cured 100% it is mentally disorder i had been suffiring for 2 years now i am absolutely fine i can cure u contact on whatsapp +918826601203
Living with IBS is no joke. I also have diverticulitis so I have to watch eating greasy foods, but the flare up’s happen out of no where and the pain be unbearable. Usually happens over night and nothing like being woken up to extreme pain. I’ll sit on the toilet in the dark for 2+ hours waiting for the “plug” to come out to get relief. I’m really sorry for what you are going through
Going on travel to anywhere requires so much planning. Plus I feel that I am constantly looking for where the closet bathroom is. And if there is not bathroom, my anxiety goes through the roof. Traffic is another nightmare.
No problem, such a shame that people don't understand. They should really think... why would you really want to cancel?! Hope you are feeling better than the last couple of weeks x
Becky Excell exactly! I’ll feel better soon mine is bad at the moment as we go on holiday Monday so I’m stressing about food and travel lol anxiety and ibs really don’t mix well 😂 xx
A few things that helped me: Ginger tea L-glutamin Slippery elm Hot-Lemon water ACV Cinamon Turmeric+black pepper Liquid clorophyl Spirulina Probiotics Digestive enzymes Collagen / beef gelatin D3+k2 vitamin Omega3 (fish or krill oil) C vitamin Bone broth on daily basis Liquorice root tea Coconut oil Pepermint oil About food...following a low fodmap diet, dairy free (except ghee because its pure fat without casein and lactose, very beneficial for gut healing) , gluten free ass well and legumes free as well, focus on cia seeds, good quality fats like i mentioned coconut and ghee, from grains choose millet, rice, quinoa or buckwheat, as much leafy greens as much you can, raw red cabadge, soft egg yolks , try to drink at least 2l of water a day, stay hidrated, moderate excercise (3x a weak), reduce stress to minimum, and try some meditation, deep breathing, or some other mind relaxing, spiritual rutine on a daily basis, all the best for every1 :)
When I was diagnosed with ibs about 5 years ago I did a lot of research, as I was in so much pain most days! I took the decision to go Vegan & have stayed vegan for the past 5 years, I stay clear of all my trigger foods & all animal products, I haven't had any pain at all in the last 3yrs 😊 I know going vegan isn't for everyone but, it gave me my life back! 😊
That’s great! I would like to do the same but one of my main concerns is loosing weight since I’m already so small. Having a goals to gain weight is hard when you have ibs:(
Hey Becky, Thank you so much for making this video. You described one of the most frustrating, and isolating, parts of my life as if you were in my head. I have been suffering from IBS... I think for most of my life. Only recently diagnosed, I grew up thinking I was just super picky, and had constant stomach bugs. I got in trouble for the number of times I stayed home, to the point where I started questioning if I was "faking it". "I mean... my stomach hurts, but I'm not actively vomiting and I don't have a fever, so maybe I should just go in. This is something everyone probably deals with". I really thought that everyone dealt with what I was dealing with, but I was just weaker. I was the one who wanted to stay home just because my stomach hurt. I didn't realize that most people would have stayed home on any number of the days that I went in, because it just became my normal. It wasn't until I had a Gastro doc tell me (2 years ago) that my constant nausea was not normal, and diagnosed me with IBS that I took a look and noticed that most of the things I am picky about are things that generally trigger people with IBS. Its so easy to say that the kid who doesn't like vegetables is just picky, but I really didn't feel well when I ate those things. Going to people's houses for dinner has always been, and remains now that I am diagnosed, one of my biggest fears. I've started warning people before-hand: "I'm a really picky eater because of my stomach. Please don't be offended if I don't eat what you make. I can take care of myself, I just want you guys to enjoy yourselves"... Now that I am diagnosed... I don't know how well I'm handling it. Trying the diet stuff (low FODMAP, high soluble fiber), I have a probiotic supplement with gut probiotics and digestive enzymes, and take peppermint pills occasionally to battle symptoms. Really hard to tell if anything is helping, especially as I had to stay home from work today on account of how badly my stomach hurts. Hoping to see some positive effect over time, but with the amount of conflicting information out there, its hard.
got diagnosed 2 years ago and since then have felt vey isolated and misunderstood. people dont undestand how taxing it is on your legitimate EVERY DAY life. thankyou for making this video, felt like a big hug.
I suffer from IBS everyday. I've had it for two years, and I absolutely hate it. I constantly bloat, feel sick and go to the bathroom. I cannot eat fruit, nuts, pulses, lentils, beans, gluten and dairy. It is great that you are doing UA-cam videos, it is nice to have someone to relate to! As a lot of friends and family do not understand, nor do many doctors. I find exercise helps, peppermint tea and the Low Fod Map Diet.
HI Rhiannon, so sorry to hear you've been struggling with IBS like me, it sucks right! Sounds like you have very similar issues to me as well... so many things to avoid :( I've found some exercise helps and definitely peppermint tea too! x
@@BeckyExcell my best friend sadly has it but one time we went to a hockey game and thru out the game she had to go to the bathroom 20 times and on the car ride home she had to go a another 10 times she said she won't really leave her house hope you get better
hey guys, were all in this together, stay strong 💪 finally speaking to a gastroenterologist this week after waiting for six months. current state of NHS is appalling. its hard to stay positive, its hard when you know people don't understand. But we mustn't let this consume us. Let's come together, this comment section is here for you. Feel free to talk here. it really helps me to talk about my struggles. keep going pooper troopers 😉
I feel like I’m on a thread. I get so emotional but prayer, writing journals has help ease the anxiety. I also have an appointment with a gastroenterologist and I’m nervous and happy. It just sucks that sometime we have to go through this but the comment section is helping me
I can relate so much, I'm always in pain and its the worst feeling I've been in for a colonoscopy and endoscopy and all these other tests and it sucks so much the pain the always and I can barely do anything I'm practically forced to stay in because I hate going out when I feel so miserable and when I do go out the most I see are new bathrooms. I hate when people say it's all in my head the pain when obviously it isn't. I'm so happy I'm not alone and that other people can relate to what I feel. thank you for posting this
Hi Susan, that sounds terrible. I must admit my IBS really gets me down sometimes and I don't always feel like being around lots of people. I mean, who wants to be around me when I'm grumpy because of pain?! I really hope yours improves though. I'll keep my fingers crossed :) xx
Having IBS as a dude is hard. You feel constantly judged by your friends, made fun of for it and none of them truly understand that it's not just "the shitting disease haha". Friends and family try to be supportive, but it's truly hard for them to understand just how awful it feels - and when you're feeling fine between flares even you begin to forget. It's a detriment to your life and it usually starts at a young age which is even worse... its lifelong.
Ikr I think I got it too and my bowel habits differs day by day sometimes it's type5 and the next it's type 3 or 4 or sometimes mixed and the unpleasant feeling won't leave me alone except after doing calisthenics and riding bicycle during mornings and relaxing at night
I love seeing this community. I suffer from IBS after immense stress and binge drinking cold drinks. Now my main trigger is the cold. When I get anxious, I feel a sense of cold sweat that makes me feel colder, triggering my stomach. During mornings or rainy days, I get very sensitive and would have to wear tons of layers. I’m so jealous of people who could live their dream teenager life and dress now they want to.
Totally get it! I was constantly bloated to the point where I would constantly be asked when my baby is due. When I realised that I had a gluten and slight egg intolerance and cut them out the constant bloating went away so that I only bloat out when I eat a small amount of gluten. I still suffer with feeling bloated, constipation and excess gas with some times being worse than others. It gets really bad during my "time of the month" (sorry boys) and stress is a huge trigger as well. This week I've had to try a new hormone medication because I have some gyney issues and that triggered it off. I'm only just adapting after 5 days but it's still a bit sensitive so I have to keep food fairly bland and easy to digest. I find that yoga really helps. I do it everyday. There are certain poses that ease bloating, gas and constipation and it also helps calm the mind.
yeah I agree on time of the month, that affects me more too. i live on fairly bland foods as it helps me. I've also been thinking of trying yoga, never done it before but it's good to know it helps you :) I hope you are getting on ok xx
You can find specific yoga poses for relieving ibs, constipation and trapped gas on the internet and it helps to calm the mind and keep you focussed on something other than your symptoms. I just find that it effects my self esteem and confidence more than anything. When I feel particularly gassy (sorry for all the crude details by the way), I feel dirty and smelly (even though It's probably not noticable) and when I'm bloated, I want to hide my body away which is not easy when you do activities such as dance and gymnastics (I once put a video up of me practicing a skill on facebook and someone commented on it asking if I'd put on weight (I hadn't, I was just bloated). I've also taken activated charcoal tablets on occasions when I'm really bad (such as when I eat gluten) as it helps remove toxins from the body but they should only be used on an occasional basis
Thank you so much for you IBS hacks. Had IBS since I was 10 and it's been hard. It's nerve racking when going on road trips because I constantly need to have the comfort of a restroom around me. I even passed up a free Disneyland trip because of my IBS :(
No problem, I do find mine gets in the way of me doing things too, even if I don't want it to :( Sorry to hear it stopped you going to Disneyland that sucks! Hope you do get to go sometime though xx
I get sick every time I travel out of town. It doesn’t matter if I’m on a plane, train, or in an automobile, I always end up sick. I ended up in the ER on my last trip cause I was dehydrated from not eating or drinking all day.
This video is the most relate-able things ever. I've had IBS my whole life, diagnosed when I was 10 and I am now 22. The main part of my life it affects is my social life I would say, like you said I don't want to burden anyone and talk about my pain constantly but, that leads to me pushing people away because I just can't do things sometimes. Like you said, if other people were in the pain you are in they probably wouldn't go out that day. People tend to perceive me as being a flake or lazy, but I just don't have the energy to explain why most of the time, and it's usually answered with "Oh I think I have a bit of IBS too"... (If I had a pound for every time someone told me that.) Personally, I've been on the low fodmap diet since September (very strictly) which has helped somewhat. But, of course, even on a good day i have cramps, I'm just used to them. It has just made it slightly more manageable I guess. I'm also looking into candida overgrowth at the moment. It's still an absolute mine field, there are so many different things linked with my systems, I have no idea what I'm doing. But, I'm trying to become active in the IBS community rather than keep it all to myself. That's basically why I'm leaving this comment lol. Thanks for sharing your IBS story! :) #subscribed
Hi Laura, Thanks so much for your comment, its the reason I make videos like this - not just to help you, but you've just made me feel better.. knowing I'm not alone! Everything you just said I can completely agree with. No one can understand but us, I don't expect them to though, IBS is so frickin weird. Glad to hear low fodmap is helping somewhat, but yeah a 'good' day for me is definitely still a day with some pain... do you remember the last day you didn't have any pain?! me neither! If you ever wanna chat, let me know xx
Oh my God, Becky. SAME!!! I am sending this to everyone I know so I don’t have to say it. You posted this over a year ago and it’s still helping people. Thank you from the bottom of my aching gut🙏.
hi Becky. I'm glad I found your channel a year ago. I have been suffering with IBS for the last 12 years. my doctors tried me on different medication and none of them helped. So then they changed my diet and realized that gluten, wheat, alcohol and dairy are the main sources that make me have problems. I have pain, I have to toilet a lot and sometimes get sick or nauseous. since my diet change it has got a bit better but still have problems. last April I was in severe pain, couldn't keep any food in. It was awful, It got so bad I ended up in hospital for 2 weeks. watching your videos though shows me I'm not alone. also watching your hauls gives me good ideas on food to try. I'm sorry you have to suffer like me I feel your pain. Thank you for the videos look forward to lots more xxx
Hi Lily, thanks so much for the comment. Really sorry to hear you suffer so much with your IBS. I hope you are a lot better than when you had to go into hospital, hopefully its more under control now. Yep I find it reassuring that I am not alone and we are all in this together. If you ever want to chat, let me know xx
I suffer from IBS every since I was a child. It use to be called a nervous stomach. I've pretty much become a recluse. I just go to work and come home. Sometimes I can't even make it to work. It's affected my life in every way. I don't have a relationship because I'm embarrassed about it and don't feel like explaining it to anyone. I'm 50 and realize I'll probably be alone the rest of my life because of this horrible disease. If u decide to go out anywhere I have to really plan the day out. I can't eat anything until I get home. Sometimes no matter how much plan I can't go anywhere. It's a horrible way to live. After all these years I just learned how deal with it. Depression sets in a lot. I think it's hereditary. My dad has it to.
This is amazing. Honestly I feel so alone and fed up with this horrible condition. It's comforting to know I'm not the only one who struggles. Thank you for posting. Hope you will do some more of these videos soon xxx
Hi Lucy, thanks for the comment. I will definitely be making more of these videos, I find it comforting to make them. I really hope you are having a lovely day and your IBS isn't raging. Just be positive (as much as you can!!) xx
You are absolutely not alone Becky:) I have anxiety and recently my life has gone through a real whirl wind of stressors so the IBS Bitch came out to play for Christmas. Wish I could smother her with my stocking-_- When I have to give presentations, write exams, or get together with new people my IBS flares up and makes it sooooo much worse. I have been in severe pain and cried with panic attacks because I felt like I was going to die and all my internal organs were going to explode. I thankfully have a wonderful family who helps me calm down though. Anyways, like I've said before thank you for the comforting words and support. I feel so much more calm and that's because of you. Merry Christmas Becky!xxx
Aww that is so kind of you to say, glad I can help you out. Also so glad you have a supportive family, that makes such a difference. Haha I'd love to smother IBS with my stocking too, I wish we could!!! Hope you have a lovely Xmas IBS attack free xxxxx
I have IBS-M and I have a particular scenario I would like to share: First off, IBS-M includes constipation and diarrhea I was at Macy’s with my mom and my sister and I had been having some lower abdominal pain (this was before my diagnosis). I started REALLY feeling the pain and so I just sat down on one of the beds, and I literally thought I was going to die. I then thought I was about to crap my pants so I ran to the bathroom and sat there for 30 minutes and like a tiny nugget came out. My sister was getting annoyed because she wanted to go hole, it then when we got in the car, j felt the pain and the urge again. As soon as I got home, I went straight to the toilet, and, well, the flood gates opened. I felt fine, but then five minutes later, I got pain again, so I went back to the bathroom and had another bowel movement. The whole thing lasted for an hour but after all of the 💩 was out of me, I felt a lot better. ALSO! Does anybody else get pain when they take a deep breath when they are having an IBS movement? Thank you for taking the time to read this, and have a wonderful day.
I have the exact same IBS and it's everyday for me. No matter what I eat or what time of day I eat it. The worst part is when I have an IBS attack(that's what I call it) and my family and I are on a road trip and we stop for gas and suddenly I'm stuck in the only woman's one person bathroom for hours... I feel like crap(no pun intended) literally. And just when I think I'm done I'm not... :'( and I was never like this before I had my gull bladder removed.
I have IBS-C...spent most of my life with it but didnt get diagnosed offically with IBS until 2018. I can go a week without going and then when I do it's hell. Literally sitting in the restroom for hours. Then when I get done.. i'll go lie down and if I put any pressure on my butt i'll have to go again... during my school days when I was a kid teachers and school nurses thought I was mental and were always annoyed with me... was a huge depressive headache.
Thanks for sharing your struggle Becky! I have ibs too, and havent met anyone with ibs yet, so i am struggling alone. Most people dont understand it. It took me 10 years to understand what to eat, and i am still trying to figure it out! But, i have a supportive husband that eats low fodmap meals with me!
Thank you so much for sharing and bringing us all together. My IBS pains keep me up at night and it's so upsetting and frustrating. But I enjoy watching your videos, they are a great help and it's nice not to feel alone with this even though its such hard work!!
Currently lying in bed trying to sleep but suffering. Bloated, feel like I’m going to barf and faint. It’s such a miserable thing to have. I’ve currently had it for four months straight now. My IBS is the equivalent of gastrointestinal flu. It’s a nightmare. I totally relate to everything you’ve said.
Annie Wilson My family doctor is following me, especially since I have other medical issues as well. My symptoms are basically look good poisoning, so when I have an attack, I’m in really back shape for usually about a week (if the trigger isn’t ongoing), and it’s usually stress/upsetting situations/events/news that bring on my attacks. Otherwise when I’m not having an attack, I can pretty much eat anything (I only have issues with certain wheat products like bread and pasta... they severely bloat me and put me into a comatose state).
you would think that, but my list is pretty random too. those are just the definites, then every other food in the world will affect me one day and then not the next :( its horrible isn't it... hang in there! x
I have had IBS since I was 7. I have to cut myself off from other activities a lot because my stomach. I also have lots of mental issues. One of those being anxiety. When I get anxious my stomach hurts so much more than it usually does.
It's so awful to have to experience this everyday and the embarrassment that comes with it. My IBS is diagnosed as mixed and cause so much inflammation and malfunction in my body that my appendix and gallbladder had to be emergency removed about two years ago, a loong story it is, and in the long run has helped and made it worse. It so hard to have to explain to people why you have to suddenly stop and find a restroom or risk literally exploding. The amount of complications that come with it are just as stressful and as painful as IBS itself. I've been very fortunate to have friends and family that understand, but to others that have never experienced this, at least in my experience, find it hard to grasp what it truly is. I've been told to literally take Pepto and it'll be fine...No...no it won't. Especially when you are in so much pain you vomit anything that could help. Idk about others, but the amount of meds I'm on could have taken could taken down a small cavalry. 😂 Something that has worked for me though is Xifaxan. It was super awful while taking it cause of the side effects, but the outcome gave me a sense of ease for a couple months. Would recommend highly. Also a food journal helps identify what you can and cannot eat. If you have IBS know that you're not alone and that more people have it then you think! 💖
So true some one told me to take pepto it worked for about an hour and after that when it was time for a BM I had the worse cramps and was throwing up and it seem like the pepto dried it out instead of healing
I have struggled with IBS since I was 18 now 28 I don’t experience the pain I used to, but when you have to go poop, you have to go poop. It’s no joke. Your stomach to tear it’s self up
can we talk im 17 with ibs im also wondering how am i going to get a job aswell?? i cant even go to my hs games, socialize nor make friends but my ibs situation is me having the urge to poop then it leading to a poop smell uncontrollably it's very embarrassing
I have IBS-A (diarrhea and constipation) in addition to GAD and emetephobia which is a miserable combination. So far I haven’t found what’s been triggering my flare ups, even though I have pain daily. It really is super deliberating and I would honestly be so grateful if the doctor just came out and told me I had Celiac disease. But of course, NO
Oh yes, it’s the WORST! I urge you to find peace with the V WORD (I hope you have since it’s been 5 years) because living like that only makes the ibs wayyyy worse!
I am 15 and pretty sure I have IBS. I've had stomach ache, nausea, and diarrhea for the past 4 months. It's hard for me because I used to love eating big meals, and I loved going out and exercising. Now I can barely eat and struggle to go out. I've had all sorts of tests but they don't show anything. I hate when people say "it's just your nerves". It's not. It's a real thing.
I've had that loads, people saying that it's in my head in the past. Definitely not true! They would know if they had a stomach like mine! Keep pushing your doctors until they have done every test imaginable, and see if you can get help from a dietician too, I hope you start to feel better xx (if you can manage any exercise I find it actually helps me a lot, even if its only gentle!)
I'm in the really early stages of IBS. The doctors have tested me for everything else and it all came back negative so she basically said IBS is all it could be. I've struggled to deal with the fact that I'll have this for the rest of my life and I'm kind of in denial, I don't really talk about it and I suffer a lot of pain in complete silence every single day which makes everyone think I'm fine. I have no clue how to make the pain stop or how to begin to work out what my trigger foods are so at the moment I'm just scared to eat anything because one sure fire way to stop food affecting my ibs is to not eat anything at all.
Hi Heather, completely know where you are coming from. I remember when I had tests to see if anything else was wrong in a weird way I kinda wanted them to diagnose something else just because then hopefully there would be medicine etc to manage it. I find with IBS managing it can be a real struggle sometimes. IBS is very good at jumping out and being bad when you least expect it :( It might be worth talking to someone about it, someone you trust. At least then people won't ever get the wrong idea. I'm sure they will be very understanding if you choose the right people. It is really easy to think that it is best not to eat anything cause everything gives you pain, but actually in the long run, not eating anything will make your stomach worse and cause worse pains when you do inevitably have to eat! I'd definitely recommend going to the doctors and asking to be referred to a dietician, then you can hopefully go through the best foods for you together and form a plan of action. I hope you start to feel better, hang in there xx
I’m 12 and it’s the same story for me. They tested me for a everything else and nothing came up. It’s horrible I’ve had to cancel plans, miss school or stay at the hotel during a vacation. Sometimes I’ll wake up feeling so horrible I’m afraid to eat breakfast because it might make it worse. Ιm in denial that I’ll have this for the rest of my life, my mom says it might go away but Ι doubt her. It really sucks. When i go to parties Ι don’t much or enjoy the good foods because Ι know it’ll make me get diarrhea and pain the next day.
I did a 7 day water fast got treated for candida and bad bacteria overgrowth, along with meditation, regular exercise , good sleep and it help me immensely! (i have IBS C)
I have IBS and I’ve had it on and off for about 5 years but I’ve noticed that as time passes my flairs are less extreme and it passes faster than the last episode. When I notice symptoms I stop all sugar and dairy, then I take a turmeric supplements and one probiotic a day.. my days aren’t as bad now and I don’t panic as much when I don’t see a restroom.
I know it's hard for everyone and I understand them because I'm a teenager and it's hard to come to terms with the fact that drinking for your friends and eating everything is easy, but not for you. Eating the same food all the time is boring for fear of worsening your symptoms. I am only 16 years old and I don't know how I will deal with this fact in my life. I remember when I was a child, they always said that the pain is temporary and will pass, but it turns out that was not the case, many people suffer from it and it destroys the lives of most of them, but we must hope that everything will be fine and the day will come when we will be cured. The main thing is not to relax and remember that what does not kill us makes us stronger
Thank you Becky for your honesty. I'm sorry for your suffering! You are the first person I have listened to, whose story is my life. Years of pain, so many doctors, tests, dietitians, naturopaths, alternate therapies, psychologists and on and on... Work colleagues and friends don't understand and my husband tries, but I know struggles with my constant quest to figure it out. Listening to you I don't feel alone.
Ibs is a nightmare I been dealing with this for 20yrs I had it under control but then I had a burnout and thst when everything changes Lots of pain 24/7 I don’t know what it’ is not to be in psin.
I have chronic ibs. Since I'm only 17 and living at home I can't cut out the foods that affect my bowels. On a daily basis I struggle with the pain the constipation and the days I can get off the toilet. 😔😭
After 20 years of suffering with the disease not a single doctor had diagnosed it!! At 36 I've finally figured out I have IBS. It's literally ruined my career and relationships. It's a mix of social anxiety, panic attack and IBS. Not a single person I met in my life understood me not my family members either. They never understood why I couldn't be in social situations or always in and out of work 😞 ALCOHOL DESTROYS MY IBS FOR WEEKS. I wish there was more awareness for people like us
It’s so stressful . I’ll go a few months without having no symptoms and then it just hits me and lasts for weeks and it is awful . When I want to eat I know that it will cause consequences to the point where I literally just cry on my floor. Sometimes even drinking water makes me sick because of it 😕
I empathise with this so much! Particularly that other people (including doctors) keeeep telling me that it’s psychological/in my head when it clearly isn’t! So frustrating!
The Fast Tract Diet really helped me - it reduces fermentable carbs and fibre. I used to find it really difficult to leave the house, but now I'm okay as long as I pack my own food and don't eat any gluten, dairy or too many fruits, vegetables, grains or sugar. The only grain I eat is white rice. If I go out for food and don't follow these rules I can get pretty severely ill, and have sometimes had to go to A and E.
Hi Connie, thanks for your message, will have a look at that diet. I'm glad you have everything under control a bit now, knowing what you need to do and eat when you go out. I hope you manage ok xxx
I’m newly diagnosed with IBS it’s been about 4/5 months since I found out and I’m really struggling with meals would you possibly or do you have any videos on what you eat?
My friend recently got diagnosed and I’m trying to learn everything I can so i can attempt to help her out in any way I can thank you for showing more what it’s like instead of just describing symptoms and how to know if you have it
Ibs is literally the worst 😭😭!! It not only effects physically but it has mentally broken me down into pieces !! Nobody will ever understand except for the person who is going through it !! When someone says ‘its all in your head’ , I literally pray with all my heart that he suffers from the same symptom and then i must tell him this and see what he feels like !! I mean why would we love to act like we are in pain or getting nauseated !!! Why would we be wanting to seek attention !! 😭😭😭
Србомбоница i took that too , unfortunately it didn’t work for me .. i almost tried all sorts of medications but none worked instead i got renal colic from taking too many medication :(
Hey girl! I am so sorry you suffer from IBS! I started The Way of Kay to document the things I have done to heal my IBS and live a more happy + healthy lifestyle now that I am free from debilitating pain along with the depression and social anxiety living with such a weird condition brings on. Anyway, I threw up every day for almost two years, and towards the end I could barely work or go to class, I was so bloated and in so much pain with cramping and nausea. I spent a year trying every diet (FODMAP, Paleo, Keto, Low carb, HIGH carb, raw til 4, SCD) and felt WORSE! And it hit me! The reason there are so many diets out there to help IBS is because we are all different! We all have different ratios of bacteria in our gut. I am a nutrition student and one of my professors told us while studying GI disease that the best way to ensure a proper ratio of our microflora is to eat fiber! So that's what I did, I cut out all foods with no fiber for 2 weeks and just ate whole plant foods. After doing that, I was able to add in vegan ice cream, maple syrup, and other non-whole food plant based items that normally would have sent me running to the bathroom! I just want you to know there are answers and there are a TON of success stories of people who have managed their IBS through diet and lifestyle, and attacks are 99% preventable once you find a way of eating that works for YOU. That's what my channel is all about, finding a healthy balance that works for YOU! I wish you the best on your healing journey! Nutritionfacts.org has some great information on the microbiome I highly recommend! Also Dr. John McDougall has some digestive trouble shoot seminars here on UA-cam that really helped me out!
It took me years to realize that people don’t go through constant stomach pain. I don’t have an ibs diagnosis, however my doctor suggested it’s something we should look into. I remember being in high school curled up in a ball on the floor because of my pain and just assumed it was normal.
Over the years I kinda just accepted my pain and got used to it, but I have found ways to manage it. One of my most common symptoms is gas so somethicone (Gas-X) has worked wonders. It’s over the counter but I’m not a doctor so always check with your doctor so see if it’s right for you! Keeping a food diary with details of symptoms can help you figure out triggers. You can also cut certain foods out to see if any of those cause worse symptoms. For example I cut out dairy for 1-2 weeks and then reintroduced it to see if my symptoms improved/got worse. Doing this and bringing it up at your next doctors visit can help the doctor rule out other GI related issues. Hopefully that helps a bit!
sad to see such a young and attractive girl dealing with this! i am 65 diagnosed with IBS ABOUT 4 years ago still struggling with it! no pain but the bloating and general discomfort is unreal and certainly affects one's life! i am suprised and saddened by the number of young people dealing with this! all the best to you Becky and all others coping with this illness!
I'm unable to eat gluten and sometimes dairy which is a bit of a pain for after school snacks. I've been doing karate for 6-7 years with my dad and now I'm going twice or once a week rather than three times, which annoys my Dad. Also, school get's me a little stressed and I'm generally a very anxious and nervous person about the most ridiculous things!
Aw that is a pain, at least you are still keeping up your karate even if it is a little less. I know the feeling of getting stressed from school etc. Just remember you come first always and school literally isn't the end of the world... in years to come what happened at school literally wont matter xx
I’m 15 and have had intolerances and stomach problems my whole life, recently I’ve been diagnosed with ibs and I swear my whole family is so sick and tired of me complaining about my stomach and I’m so over it. I cannot figure out what all makes me flare but it’s honestly everything, I’m so sick and tired of being sick lol. I haven’t gone a week without a flare up and I have really bad health anxiety so I always think my symptoms are something worse which sucks. Over everything rn.
I'm glad I'm not the only one suffering a plain diet because of IBS, although it’s not as severe as yours. But every time I go out, the first I look for is the where the bathroom is located, and I always pray it’s a single occupant bathroom since it’s so embarrassing when I’m having an attack and multiple people are in the room with me. I don’t turn down invitations for dinner at a friend or family member’s house, but I hate it when I have an attack there since I know they hate seeing me in pain (in the abdomen, the backside and during the worse flares, the rectum), and sometimes these attacks can be messy and I don’t want them to have to clean it up. As for going to restaurants, I tend to frequent the ones that I had the least amount of attack triggers.
So sorry to hear that. It's great that you still feel happy enough to go round others for dinner and out to restaurants - the main thing is, it shouldn't control your life :) xx
I really struggled when I was first diagnosed with cutting so many food out of my diet. I found, eventually, with the help of my doctor that only some foods that are high in FODMAPS caused me to be symptomatic. I also have found taking daily probiotics to be super helpful in being able to add certain foods back into my diet! My doctor also initially had me basically cleanse my bowels with some pretty strong medication to give me a fresher start and reduce the constant pain to only when i ate something i shouldnt
I am suffering from IBS since 2 year's, have changed 8 doctors still get severe pain in every 2 months , the pain is intolerable which relaxes after I vomit . I just got to know I have symptoms of IBS as my doctor's called it chronic gastritis . Have decided to go on a Fodmap diet, guys if any of u suffer the same please tell me! Also Beckey totally relate wid u I am just 20 and my social life is ruined , but still I don't care and an happy to live!
Just recently got diagnosed with it after switching to a new doctor. I don’t eat at school because no matter what I eat it makes it really bad. I missed a lot of school because of it and my brothers think I’m faking it. It also made me lose all my friends because I would sometimes be in a bad mood because my stomach really hurt and I wouldn’t be able to hang out with them because I was afraid. I’m learning how to live with it now and I’ve started trying to make new friends and also my family has been better at working with me and helping me out with this.

People just dont realise how hard it is having IBS when it comes to cafes and restaurants 9 out of 10 just don't cater for you ,these people that can eat whatever they want just don't know how lucky they are.
I can't help but feel that often. Somehow I keep going, I have to for my family. But living feels like a trap I can't get out of. And it's just because of the pain.
You nailed it exactly how I live each day...usually in the bathroom. The constant pain, bloating feeling like crap ( no pun intended) I dread going anywhere as I have to scan every loo. I can't eat out. 😫
I am so sad, I have IBS I wish I never got it I deal with so much Stress & I try so hard to not Eat the wrong Foods&I take Medicine for Anxiety&for Depression but When my ibs acts up I want to cry 😭😢 My heart breaks 💔 for Me&for people who are dealing& Struggling with this!!! Hello Becky glad to watch your video today. I have suffered from this terrible disease for many many years. I never knew what I had because there was no way to find out in my village. Just recently I heard about colitis/ IBS/Ibd . It nice in a weird way to know that I am not in this alone. I have felt all alone for a long time

oh my gosh, mine is not that hard to live with but I'm suffering from Panic attacks based on my ibs as i dont know after 12 years of ibs whats good or wrong for my stomach... one time i can eat noodles at my favorite restaurant, next Time i can't. I'm scared of getting in holiday by plane and so one. i've been to the usa in march and it was sooo hard as i realized there aren't restplaces with Toilette a lot 😨😨😨😨😨 how do American handle diarrea????? sometimes i'm Thinking about Never going on Holiday again because its very hard for my mental Health.... my thoughts are with you
Hiya, thanks for the comment. I'm so sorry to hear you are suffering so much. I definitely get that too.. one day I can eat something, the next I can't... it makes everything very difficult. I really hope yours gets better as I know how hard it can be x
I have IBS and being a dr its much annoying for me. But seriously saying be positive and hopeful. Life style change . yoga. Medication will helps. Anybody needs help. Please DM. Free help. I know how hard to live with it 🙏🏻
Try having to endure a job during the vacation which needs you to hold heavy machinery, outside, standing, without a possibility to go to a toilet… all this because i HAVE to because i am in debt to my parents. Ive been home for 4 months now and today was my first day i actually had to work. I couldnt go to school the last 3 months. And now i have to endure 3 weeks of torture, and the only thing my parents say is “it is what it is”. I need help before i get a mental breakdown while ive not cried in years(before i stayed home)
I’m terrified of having the worst pains at times and I get scared that that’s going to affect my ibs too because stress makes it worse so I get stressed I’ll make it worse by being stressed it’s a never ending cycle of fear pain and anxiety that’s not going to go away I wish people understood that it’s not just an upset stomach
same but im also dealing with the urge to have to poop and then it leading to a smell or even when i dont have to poop im still smelling poop its mainly linked with my anxiety as well please respond so we can chat im 15 and i lost my social life
Hi Becky, my life mirrors yours! but recently I found out about Ebastina,a non drowsy ante histamine, I take one before bedtime, and it has helped a lot with the cramps and bloating, and the pain. If you google Ebastina/ I.B.S /Daily Mail there is an article about how during trials it was found out that this little tablet had a remarkable affect on IBS!!
I'm going through the diagnosis process at the moment. I've found following the lowFODMAP diet helps but everyone with IBS is different. You may be able to eat some foods on the lowFODMAP diet, doing the diet with a dietitian allows them to find out what foods you react to and what foods are fine. I'll be doing this soon because I know there are some foods that really don't sit well with my stomach but then there's some on the diet that I think I am fine with. Doing it with a dietitian will really improve things, and it should really help you to have less bloating and pain.
Hi Sarah, I'm glad the low FODMAP diet has been helping you, it definitely helps me too. I have tried reintroducing a few things which sadly hasn't worked out, but at least I am getting to know what truly hurts me! x
people don’t understand how hard it actually is having to live with it

I understand because I have ibs☹️

My IBS has basically taken over my entire life, I’m constantly in pain which triggers my anxiety because I am scared to go anywhere because I’m scared there may not be a bathroom or I might get too stressed and my family and boyfriend might get annoyed because of my stress, I just feel hopeless but watching your video made me feel less alone. Thank you so much

I deal with ibs every day and people don’t understand how hard it really is.
I agree with you girl... I deal with it...

Having IBS is awful.
Yep, totally agree :(
Ye I have had it for nine years I got it when I was two. Pure. Freaking. Hell.

My boyfriend and I have IBS which is unfortunate considering that we are total foodies. At least we get each other.
Sounds like me and my boyfriend 100%! x
Meant to be aww!#
you're lucky :)
my dad got this
IBS has made me literally want to cut open my stomach and rip my intestines from my body. That's how much it hurts 😭😭😭
You read my mind
Ikr😩
Yeah that’s how it feels for me like your getting torn open and everything is getting ripped out but you can’t seem to die.
I have ulcerative colitis , it goes the same, I wish I didn't have any guts , I could give up at eating.
yes!
I definitely struggle socially. I feel like people don't understand IBS. People say i'm being 'fussy' by not eating certain things but it not being fussy, it's not a free choice; it causes me pain for days!
I know that feeling!! x
We all get criticized by people who don’t understand how it feels.
150%%% relatable !!!! Had it for about 5 years, I also suffer from anxiety and it's basically left me house bound 80% of the time.
Aw Ashley, I'm so sorry to hear that. If you ever need to chat please let me know. I find chatting helps. You shouldn't be living a life like that. Big hugs xx
Same here, my day starts & ends at home

Exactly me
I suffer from all those problems.
Work causes so much anxiety for me. I have to sit next to my manager, and next thing you know, my stomach starts groaning, or I need to constantly go to the toilet.
I miss working from home sometimes 😞
I have IBS too and my God, I can barely do anything. I missed work today :/
Hi Stevie, so sorry to hear that :( I hope you had an ok Christmas with it all xx
Please try mebeverine ,it's anti spasmodic for intestines ,take 3 tablets a day 30 minutes before each meal,it calmed my nervous bowel a lot:)))
Dam you sound like me
Sound just like me to it’s crazy.
Cerys Howley I understand. My life went from bad to hell. Lost 51lbs and my bones stick out. Bday is in 2 days :(
Same fuck my life gonna go die
I’ve had it for 20 years I lost some friends too and jobs, but you are not alone and you can figure out how to control it too. We all have different triggers. I thought I was alone with this but I found out so many ppl have it. Find your triggers for it and try to stay positive. You are not alone
Cerys Howley the thing is that it’s an evil circle, you get IBS because you’ve anxiety, and you’ve anxiety because you’ve IBS. So then your IBS gets worse because you don’t feel good :(
It's so bad I'm the same 15 years no joy with anything I've tried it wears u down a lot stay positive and be strong

Thank you for making this video, my ibs the last 2 weeks has been so painful, everyone always rolls they’re eyes when I mention it or cancel plans 😢

Cinamon
Turmeric+black pepper
Liquid clorophyl
Spirulina
Probiotics
Digestive enzymes
Collagen / beef gelatin
D3+k2 vitamin
Omega3 (fish or krill oil)
C vitamin
Bone broth on daily basis
Liquorice root tea
Coconut oil
Pepermint oil
About food...following a low fodmap diet, dairy free (except ghee because its pure fat without casein and lactose, very beneficial for gut healing) , gluten free ass well and legumes free as well, focus on cia seeds, good quality fats like i mentioned coconut and ghee, from grains choose millet, rice, quinoa or buckwheat, as much leafy greens as much you can, raw red cabadge, soft egg yolks , try to drink at least 2l of water a day, stay hidrated, moderate excercise (3x a weak), reduce stress to minimum, and try some meditation, deep breathing, or some other mind relaxing, spiritual rutine on a daily basis, all the best for every1 :)
Thank you for this! ❤️

Having a goals to gain weight is hard when you have ibs:(
Yep I'm transitioning to being vegan but there's a lot of filler proteins and veggies I can't have. It's definitely helped tho.

Hey Becky,
Thank you so much for making this video.
I’m currently having a flare up and I feel like dying! Im on the bridge of tears. The pain is 10/10 😢 people don’t understand
I understand your pain 💙🙏

Susan Sorrentino yes I start thinking it’s all in my head too but it’s not, it’s painful
You’re definitely not alone, keep going ❤️
Is it any better nowadays
Having IBS as a dude is hard. You feel constantly judged by your friends, made fun of for it and none of them truly understand that it's not just "the shitting disease haha". Friends and family try to be supportive, but it's truly hard for them to understand just how awful it feels - and when you're feeling fine between flares even you begin to forget. It's a detriment to your life and it usually starts at a young age which is even worse... its lifelong.
Yeah as. A dude they think u being a sissy and stuff like wtf if it’s a woman they understanding
Ikr I think I got it too and my bowel habits differs day by day sometimes it's type5 and the next it's type 3 or 4 or sometimes mixed and the unpleasant feeling won't leave me alone except after doing calisthenics and riding bicycle during mornings and relaxing at night
Exactly. Men have it too
I love seeing this community.
THIS IS ME! It only happens when I wake up. My body starts to shiver and my nose and hands get ice cold! It’s insane!!!!!!
I ended up in the ER on my last trip cause I was dehydrated from not eating or drinking all day.
i’m so sorry! i feel the same way
@@NewEraChi same lol I didnt drink or eat an entire day in hopes that I wouldnt need to use the toilet
(If I had a pound for every time someone told me that.)
Personally, I've been on the low fodmap diet since September (very strictly) which has helped somewhat.
Hi Laura,
Thanks so much for your comment, its the reason I make videos like this - not just to help you, but you've just made me feel better.. knowing I'm not alone! Everything you just said I can completely agree with. No one can understand but us, I don't expect them to though, IBS is so frickin weird.
I have IBS-M and I have a particular scenario I would like to share:
First off, IBS-M includes constipation and diarrhea
I was at Macy’s with my mom and my sister and I had been having some lower abdominal pain (this was before my diagnosis).
You described my exact pain
I’m so sorry I know exactly how this feels 😭
I have the exact same IBS and it's everyday for me. No matter what I eat or what time of day I eat it. The worst part is when I have an IBS attack(that's what I call it) and my family and I are on a road trip and we stop for gas and suddenly I'm stuck in the only woman's one person bathroom for hours... I feel like crap(no pun intended) literally. And just when I think I'm done I'm not... :'( and I was never like this before I had my gull bladder removed.
Sairra Ellingson oh my gosh that sounds awful
But, i have a supportive husband that eats low fodmap meals with me!
i really thought I might die with IBS but not, it is basically you just suffer every day, every minute and just any time.
Jennifer S have you gone to a doctor?? And where does it hurt? I am just wondering because I think that is what I have but I haven’t seen a doctor yet
Otherwise when I’m not having an attack, I can pretty much eat anything (I only have issues with certain wheat products like bread and pasta... they severely bloat me and put me into a comatose state).
at least your list is constant mine is random one day something wont bother me the next it will make me sick. but i have gurd to so yeah fun.
you would think that, but my list is pretty random too. those are just the definites, then every other food in the world will affect me one day and then not the next :( its horrible isn't it... hang in there!
IBS is very good at jumping out and being bad when you least expect it :(
It might be worth talking to someone about it, someone you trust.
I hope you start to feel better, hang in there xx
you should find the cause of ibs
to address it
Hope you got a second and third opinion
I’m 12 and it’s the same story for me. They tested me for a everything else and nothing came up. It’s horrible I’ve had to cancel plans, miss school or stay at the hotel during a vacation. Sometimes I’ll wake up feeling so horrible I’m afraid to eat breakfast because it might make it worse. Ιm in denial that I’ll have this for the rest of my life, my mom says it might go away but Ι doubt her. It really sucks. When i go to parties Ι don’t much or enjoy the good foods because Ι know it’ll make me get diarrhea and pain the next day.
Heather D-S me to sis, ive had the symptoms for years but just got diagnosed last week, we are in this togethr though, stay strong sister
Is it still possible to resume eating all types of food even with IBS?
It affects my life every single day. I’m really struggling to cope with it! I hate it😫
Thank you Becky for your honesty.
Listening to you I don't feel alone.
its so nice your partner is able to relate to you having IBS
It is really helpful, we both have IBS so we can really help each other a lot... nobody understands IBS like a fellow IBS sufferer does!
Ibs is a nightmare I been dealing with this for 20yrs I had it under control but then I had a burnout and thst when everything changes
Lots of pain 24/7 I don’t know what it’ is not to be in psin.
I have chronic ibs. Since I'm only 17 and living at home I can't cut out the foods that affect my bowels. On a daily basis I struggle with the pain the constipation and the days I can get off the toilet. 😔😭
Yh I'm 15 and only just been diagnosed I got really bad bloating and pain out of no where and well it was IBS so annoying lol
Same my family has been really inconsiderate of my pain
louis Sinclair what did the doctors do to diagnose you. I wanna go but I’m scared they’re gonna make me strip lmfao
They never understood why I couldn't be in social situations or always in and out of work 😞
ALCOHOL DESTROYS MY IBS FOR WEEKS.
IBS ruined my life
The Fast Tract Diet really helped me - it reduces fermentable carbs and fibre.
Fodmap diet should work
My friend recently got diagnosed and I’m trying to learn everything I can so i can attempt to help her out in any way I can thank you for showing more what it’s like instead of just describing symptoms and how to know if you have it
Ibs is literally the worst 😭😭!! 😭😭😭
Try mebeverine,it's a medication ,anti spasmodic for intestines ,it's the only thing that helped me,I take it 30 minutes before every meal
Србомбоница i took that too , unfortunately it didn’t work for me .. i almost tried all sorts of medications but none worked instead i got renal colic from taking too many medication
:(
Also Dr. John McDougall has some digestive trouble shoot seminars here on UA-cam that really helped me out!
thanks for all the details, that's super useful :) xx
It took me years to realize that people don’t go through constant stomach pain. I don’t have an ibs diagnosis, however my doctor suggested it’s something we should look into. I remember being in high school curled up in a ball on the floor because of my pain and just assumed it was normal.
Please same, have you treated it or got rid of it now? Mine is constant have been for 3 years and I don’t know how to reduce it
Over the years I kinda just accepted my pain and got used to it, but I have found ways to manage it.
Thank you! Yeah, I've only got a year to go so hopefully I won't get too stressed xx
It’s also really affected me this week because I’m getting over a sinus infection and taking medication which is making it worse 😢
I find peppermint or spearmint tea helpful and the peppermint capsules before food are a great relief.
Tahnn Ju same!!
I was born prematurely only 1.5 pounds along with ibs constipation. All my life suffer
Sorry to hear about all of your pain. I hope you might be feeling a little better? xx
IBS can be cured permanently believe me. I had suffered IBS for 6 years and now i have cured myself 100% There is no need to pay even a single dollar to anyone. They just want to mint money.I can help You and don't worry I don't charge anything just a step towards humanity

Be strong,
I recently started taking betaine HCl and it seems to help a lot. I just take one before a meal. It doesn't help all the time, though.
Thats good to know, hope it helps more often than not! xx
Does it help and where can I get them
People just dont realise how hard it is having IBS when it comes to cafes and restaurants 9 out of 10 just don't cater for you ,these people that can eat whatever they want just don't know how lucky they are.
sometime i feel death is better than ibs
I can't help but feel that often. Somehow I keep going, I have to for my family. But living feels like a trap I can't get out of. And it's just because of the pain.
You nailed it exactly how I live each day...usually in the bathroom. The constant pain, bloating feeling like crap ( no pun intended) I dread going anywhere as I have to scan every loo. I can't eat out. 😫
I have a best friend who has ibs, chrons, lactose and gluten intolerant and she says it sucks
I can't even walk normally...

If you suffer from IBS you should research the FODMAP diet! Has helped me so much.

I constantly am late to school and things because of it
Same!
That's really interesting Peita, I'll have a read, thanks for letting me know :) xx
I have tried reintroducing a few things which sadly hasn't worked out, but at least I am getting to know what truly hurts me! x
