So glad I found this channel. IBS has been sooo stressful for me. It interferes with so much of my life. I feel like I must be near a toilet at all times 😔 it’s gotten so bad that I don’t like being in the car for long periods of time due to not having quick access to a toilet if I need it (embarrassing) and it messes with my ability to socialize because of the urgency. I also experience the mucus symptom.

Becky, I don't quite know what to say, I actually have tears!! I was diagnosed nearly 30 years ago, after my first Wedding (should have been a clue!) and was told to eat a high fibre diet, i.e; wholegrain bread, bran flakes etc. It took me a year to realise that actually made my sypmtons worse, terrible bloating etc and my GP at the time just kept prescribing medication. My symptons eased tremendously when I went on a diet and I realised it was because I was cutting out bread and cake. Fast forward to around 8 years ago. I started to do my own research and discovered the link between gluten and ibs flare ups. So I went GF, on my own, with 4 children and a husband that weren't, it was hard. Like many other's, I no longer like to socialise, especially where food is involved. Unfortunately, I am one of the minority that has ALL of the symptons. And it sucks. Bad. But having just watched your video, it was a light bulb moment. I was diagnosed with S.A.D's around the same time and I am now thinking that it was a mis-diagnosis. I never feel depressed in the Winter, I feel tired and foggy headed and just blah. Anyway, thank you Becky for making this video, my husband is now going to watch it to get an insight of what I have to deal with and have dealt with for nearly 30 years. Cxx

Combine that with prediabetes and being a vegetarian finding enough variety to eat is difficult. It has been 30yrs and still a struggle. Great video. In case this helps anyone - I’ve had ibs for about 10 years and i recently (five months) found drinking metamucil 3x a day has helped a great deal even though my ibs is ibs-D. You’d think it would make it worse but it’s really helping. Also thanks so much for sharing your symptoms, makes me feel less alone/crazy. I also have backache, joint aches and fatigue, and also some of the other associated symptoms on that list. Have worn leggings for the past three years or so - gave up on jeans because of bloating! I had some tests and colonoscopy and it’s ibs and not something else, so at least I know what I’m working with... your videos are so helpful thank you!

I used to not eat because my tummy would hurt all the time, I cut out gluten thinking that was my problem and it kinda resolved it, but I still had bloating, cramping, and constipation. After years of going to the doctor thinking it was gluten intolerance, being told I would be fine “just eat better,” not being able to go to school because I was always in pain, I finally got diagnosed. The low FODMAP diet did wonders. Dicyclomine has saved my life when I do decide to eat foods that trigger my ibs. I’d say some days are harder than others, but I’m just glad there are others that have shared this journey.

Hey Becky. I too get IBS but I thought I had better mention, that mine is just one condition I have had for a number of years, as part of my disability of Fibromyalgia. I developed Fibromyalgia some years after a serious horse-riding accident. I was diagnosed with severe Fibromyalgia at a specialist hospital in London. I understand Fibromyalgia can vary in its severity, from mild up to severe, which I have. I get chronic pain all over my body, joints, muscles, tendons, all day every day. I also get chronic fatigue, all day every day, as well as cognitive dysfunction, including brain fog. I also get carpel tunnel syndrome. I had to give up my job and I only get about four or five hours of energy a day, to do everything, so I can barely look after myself and have to prioritise tasks. About two or three days a week I am bed-bound most of the day. I thought I would mention it as you say you have IBS and pain and fatigue, and I know Fibromyalgia affects many more woman than men. Hope this is helpful but let me know if you would like to chat about this.

I too have fibro, and IBS-C. I wasn’t sure if my fibromyalgia (20 plus years) would ever stop being a constant flare up. Then one day, it just eased up and got a little better. And then a little more and a little more. Don’t get me wrong, I still have near constant pain, and times when I can’t get off the bed or couch, but these bad times are not every day, not even every week most of the time! I alway wondered how long I could continue to work. When Covid hit, I had been only working 12-24 hours a week due to the fibro, but could no longer even do that, because they could no longer work with my accommodations That seems to be when my flare ups got better also. I think I just now realized that. However that also seems to be when the IBS symptoms got worse….. I doubt I was eating any better or healthier because I was in healthcare doing 12 hour overnight shifts in a hospital. I was also diagnosed as a celiac probably close to 15 years ago ( but am sure I had it as a young kid), but never went gluten free completely until the beginning of 2022. 9 months ago and that is when my IBS really went crazy and my symptoms got much much worse. I don’t know which came first, the IBS or the Fibro, but for me I tend to think maybe the IBS could have even though I was diagnosed with it later. We both know fibro symptoms can be horrible, not just the pain, but the brain fog, fatigue, stress, worry associated with the pain and if life can ever be NORMAL again. Eating issues from not feeling well or hurting all the time, back ache, neck joints, tendons…… etc. many of the exact same symptoms of IBS!

I came on this video by accident but stayed for the familiarity. Thought I would give my experience. I suffered about at least once a week from severe stomach bloating and pain….all of the above. At times I felt like if I could only pass gas, I would feel better and found that if I could it did relieve the pain, but when in this pain it was difficult to achieve. Other times, I would just be gassy and pass gas fine but with no pain. When I was in extreme pain was when I didn’t seem to pass gas…it was pretty awful and my attacks would usually last about 24 hours. I would say the pain when I had it, while not daily….would be severe.
I was gaining weight on my low fat higher carb diet…only eating about 1,600 calories a day…occasionally going out to eat, but had a relatively ok diet except for the few pounds of weight I gained for no reason. So, I decided to give a very low carb diet a try…I cut out all processed food and cooked from scratch. No processed food at all and I also went to two meals a day starting at 10 in the morning and nothing after 5 in the evening. What I noticed after 5 months is that as soon as I had started eating this way that pain and bloating …day one..no more pain. and the gas literally stopped…not one single episode and all I can say is my insides feel calm. At peace ☺️ I don’t know if it’s cutting out the processed foods and bread or the processed oils or what it is, but my insides have never in my life felt this good. I also lost the few pounds I gained, but the lack of that horrid pain is priceless. I eat unprocessed meat, eggs, dairy and only cruciferous veggies….spinach, broccoli asparagus etc., No Strachey veggies like potatoes, carrots fruit. .Maybe that’s it. I simply don’t know. I will slowly bring some of those foods back and see if it returns…kinda scared to, but want to know what it was. Maybe it’s not eating snacks and breakfast so my system is not working as hard to process 3 meals a day. All I know is it worked. 7 months now. 🙏🏻

Thank you for this video I have other symptoms but having gas while working around people is just terrible and very embarrassing 😮I started trying to figure what I was eating to cause this ( of course the pain &bloat too)😢 I found out regular yogurt and sweet potatoes were a huge part of my diet I had to say goodbye too and no gas for 2 weeks 🎉 I love yogurt but had to go for a non dairy option and it worked 🎉.
The strange part of it is I can eat other dairy but at least I know . I know how hard this is so glad I’m not alone

I’ve had ibs for 30 years. Since I was 9 years old the things that trigger mine is fizzy drinks, lactose I don’t drink cows milk and if I miss meals. I haven’t had ibs for ages -until today. I went for an hour walk into town I felt the urge to go loo. The toilets where closed so I soiled myself! I had to find another toilet and it was coming out when I was rushing to find the other toilets in the shopping centre a 10 min walk away. Lucky I had just been shopping and had spare trousers and knickers. I nearly passed out I was sweating and I was vomiting in the shopping centre. Luckily I managed to get a lift home. I finally got home and was on and off the toilet for 2 hours after. I couldn’t wee for ages but needed too. I’m not exhausted. Next time I’ll make sure I don’t miss breakfast and eat less carby food.

Oh my god that sounds awful and a nightmare of mine. I have nearly been caught out so many times usually when I’m driving and trying to get home and having a bad flare for nearly 3 months now. Consequently I hardly go anywhere anymore and it’s always very local, within 5 minutes from home, if I do venture out which is honestly hardly ever because of the fear of the pain and urgency coming on so quick. It has controlled every aspect of my life for about 20 years now and it’s just horrible to live with.

My one big tip I find manages stomach cramps is lots of fibre to bulk up your stool. Eat wholemeal bread pasta and rice not fruit or veg. Keep diet bland no spices or alcohol. Gradually reintroduce fruit and veg . I find alcohol a real no no . IBS tends to linger but I find managing it a very realistic proposition .

Have not been diagnosed but have had IBS-D symptoms for the last 5 years. Am just wondering; does anyone else find that going to other people's places (friends, family friends, associates, etc) makes symptoms considerably worse? I am so embarrassed because every time I go to someone else's place, I will, without fail, begin to feel ill and have to spend up to an hour or two in and out of their bathroom. It's humiliating. They all know you're having issues and you think about how they're all talking about it, wondering what the hell's wrong with you...it's horrible. Especially when they have one bathroom, and me, I'm hogging up the thing. There are 6 other people and I'm stopping everyone from going to the bathroom. It feels physically and emotionally painful. Does anyone else experience this?

I have many of those symptoms, I imagine that so many things cause my IBS, maybe food, hormones, stress/anxiety? After 20 years of suffering god only knows what causes it because I really don’t know anymore. I have about 3-5 ‘good’ days per month. I have no idea why those good days come but when they do I feel on top of the world and realise this is how non-sufferers feel each day. I get the front and back back pain too, sometimes I feel I’ve swallowed a bowling ball and it’s stuck in my middle.

I have: Bloating, abdomen pain, tiredness, nausea ✅ daily
Mucus, back-ache, incontinence ☑️ yes but only very rarely
Problems peeing: as a male, this one was unusual to diagnose, & only came up after decades of other symptoms. The cause was actually pelvic-floor-muscle pain. My pfm was worn out from the constant tension, so because emptying my bladder uses the pfm, I experienced very painful soreness after peeing. I went to pelvic physiotherapy, learnt some stretches & keggle exercises, & I’ve been able to manage it ever since.

I have gas pains and fatigue, sometimes cramps, but the worst symptom is the random sharp pains on my belly and on my back, I really thought I had Chron disease but after a colonoscopy my doctor said my intestine were impeccable and it was probably IBS, but sometimes it feels like I'm totally inflamed on the inside.

  • @carlosmamani2214
    @carlosmamani2214 Рік тому

In not very bad cases, the intestines are bothered, this is due to the condiments or spices that are put on the food, chemical preservatives that are very subtle but added to others can do a lot of damage, fungi. I usually have these things coconut oil ( is very important) on my toast or in my food. Lemonades with sodium bicarbonate, drink in half a glass of water with a splash (like 2 tablespoons of soup) of apple cider vinegar in the morning and at night. if I have mushrooms I use salt in my mouth, a condiment called cloves, luckily God bless you.

I’ve had varying degrees of IBS since I was in my 20’s. I sometimes just think I’m too old for this 💩💩💩!!! I have to wear panty liners when I go out just in case the urge hits me 💩- I’ve tried counselling to lower my anxiety to help with the IBS flare ups but it hasn’t worked for me. I constantly yo-yo between diarrhea and constipation - constipation is arguably worse because I remain bloated and with cramps for days until the blockage finally clears. Generally speaking, bloating is a near-constant symptom for me unfortunately, but I've found that peppermint oil capsules do help with that, as well as reducing the amount of pain I have. I'd definitely recommend to take peppermint oil on a daily basis.
