Another note guys for those who elate wondering, I’m pretty sure The Fox Critic knows this already now but: Airplane! was never rated 15, meaning it was only reclassified from A to PG to 12A. It’s only rated 15 on physical media (except VHS) for bonus material or special features, not the movie itself. Bonus material can sometimes bump a rating up than the film’s official certification, meaning some of these that had their ratings lowered (as you may know), but may still have the higher ratings due to bonuses, in some cases the back of the box can sometimes hint this. So for example with Jackie Brown (on most DVD and all Blu-ray releases), the back of the cover should have this under the BBFC’s consumer advice: FEATURE: 15 | SPECIAL FEATURES: 18 Another example would be for some DVDs for the original Planet Of The Apes: Feature Film: PG Certificate | Conquest Of The Planet Of The Apes Trailer: 12 Certificate Some films would do this too but in a sentence format, such as The Predator. Many films though don’t do this at all. So before you guys start saying “AIRPLANE! WAS NEVER A 15, YOU’RE LYING”, now you know. He was very young when he made this episode, so mistakes like this make sense.
I think the reason for Die Hard (1988) still having an 18 certificate on the box (even after the film got changed to 15) is possibly due to the bonus materials which are (and probably still) rated 18 to this day. Another example I can think of (though this time it’s a film that was never reclassified) is Bullet To The Head (2012), the film itself is rated 15 for both cinema and home use (has always been) but the bonus material on DVD and Blu-ray are rated 18, note that the bonus material doesn’t show on their website for this film, it’s probably somewhere else.
The reason why it still has an 18 is because it never got rated 15 for a home entertainment release, meaning the people who made the 4K had to go off the rating the film had when it was last viewed for a home entertainment release as it wasn't re-viewed for the 4K release, something I eventually figured out after I made this video. It's the same reason why many physical media releases for reclassified movies still have the old rating on them, even after the movie has been reclassified
