I don't think that's being humble, it's more like "sarcasm". He doesn't play for free you know, he knows how much he's worth by the money they pay him to play
@@elizataylor9237 He is? If I may be curious, has he played much just to the close family and does he have a less soft side to him, showing will (I mean, he seems so nice, maybe people have 'treaded on him')? I saw him in concert some 3 years ago and was so impressed and also taken by his very grounded and humble presence. Not like in some pop/rock concert where there is a peacock you're witnessing but a party where the energy is like a big happy party of friends only.
Mostly because he plays a genre that isn't that popular and is mostly a one-trick pony. He's a legend and has mastered his craft only his craft happens to not be most people's taste, unfortunately.
He's always played for the love of playing, not the adulation, that's what marks him out as a legend! Others wouldn't do it, if there was no 'stardom' on offer!
I saw Clapton and Lee live. Muddy Waters was the opener. Was a lesson in the blues. Also Clapton played Badge which is a musical moment of my life. When they got to Cocaine, Clapton took rhythm and Albert did the entire lead. Absolutely blistered it.
I attended a workshop by Albert Lee at a small music store in Vegas years ago, he'd just started playing his Ernie Ball signature model, of course he was amazing as always... at the end, we lined up at the counter and got autographs or bought an album... I had him sign mine, and his guitar was laying on top of the counter in the case with the lid open... I very carefully touched one of the strings at about the 12th fret to see what kind of action he had (low), and quickly pulled my hand away so he wouldn't think I was going to grab it or something. His assistant was standing right there on the other side of the counter, Albert was standing beside him, they didn't try to stop me but after I took my hand away the assistant said "don't do that". :D I told him, sorry, just wanted to check his string action and Albert just smiled. We all grow and change our tastes, so I understand his changing guitars but I have to say I prefer his old Tele days :) Whatever he plays, he's a GOAT.
Albert is the best guitar player nobody knows. I don't know how many times I have heard people say, "oh, the guy from 10 years after". No, that was Alvin Lee. Were they brothers? No! Who would name their kids Albert and Alvin? Then they would see him and ask who the hell is the guy with the long grey hair( today). He really is underrated. He is actually highly respected in the music industry, especially country.
Been listening to Albert for 50 plus years. First on Green Bullfrog. But as to your comment, lots of people name kids like that. Got neighbors down the street, their kids, Alex, Andrew, Aaron. Not quite as similar sounding, but just saying.
Went to see Albert in Wales. He walked into the pub we were having a meal in before the gig. My friend said are you going to go over and get his autograph? I said no, but I might warn him not to order the gammon egg and chips 😂
I thought I saw some great guitarist before, then I learned about Albert Lee-he quickly has become my favourite picker. That man is a guitar monster. No distortion, just pure country twang via picking.
Sr. Albert Lee is such a gem. He is your favorite guitar player's favorite guitar player. Such a blessing to have. I will pass down the musical knowledge that my father taught me to my children chairs.
Mr.Sensitive Albert Lee's skill is wasted on country and western music. The genre does not have the creativeness of rock and roll. Example Do you know of any great guitar solos in country and western that are know throughout the English speaking world? Anything that matches up to Hendrix et al?
+crosstimbers2 Hey, even if there were I wouldn't have heard them. Man, I wish I could play like Albert Lee. What was that Rockpile song? Sweet Little Lisa, I think it was, not exactly world famous but kinda country. Albert totally shreds it!
Mr.Sensitive I have never heard Sweet Little Lisa but it is very similar to Chuck Berry so listen to Chuck Berry if you like that style. That song is what we call rockabilly from the era of Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis. I never liked that music regardless of who plays it. I would not watch it if I were paid to do so. It is not really country music and it is not rock. It pretty much died out in the 60s. Because Albert Lee got off into the country ditch he is not nearly as well known as the equivalent RnR guitar pickers.
Just a couple of weeks ago Albert Lee and his band (John “JT” Thomas on keyboards, bassist Will MacGregor, drummer Jason Smith) came to a small venue in Spring Lake, MI (holds 120 people). Albert and his band were incredible! He is 74 years old and has incredible energy and chops!
Albert Lee is one of those guys all the guitar legends respect and admire. He is an amazing and humble guitar player. I would love to jam with him one day. One of my guitar heroes since i was a teen.
I was lucky enough to see Albert at the Woolwich Tramshed back into '91 with his then backing band "Hogan's Heroes" fronted by Gerry Hogan (Readers of Guitarist magazine may remember his column )
When I woke up this morning, Albert was playing this very song in my bathtub. I said “Now look here Mr. Lee, that is dangerous. You could electrocute yourself”. So, I unplugged his amp. I don’t think he cared too much for me doing that but he did, however, make me pancakes for breakfast. Nice guy and great cook.
And that folks...is how ya do it. Split screen, right hand, left hand, perfectly clear notes. Playing exactly what the rhythm player is laying down for him ( and the rhythm player is awesome too).
Clapton and Lee are both great guitarists in their own right. Each has a particular style of playing and they should not be compared with each other. Albert Lee is known for his chicken picking and Eric Clapton for his lead guitar playing....They do what they do best and we are lucky to still have both of them to listen to and enjoy....
Wow, Albert I knew you were good, but I've never heard any smooth style like you're playing now. This is the best ever. You're inspiring ! Thanks for posting this...
Well, actually Clapton has always spoken highly of Albert Lee even in the younger years and invites him to all his big concerts. So Clapton would probably agree.

Wonderful playing. Albert has a signature style, as all guitarists do, but it is hugely flexible. I have been to see him a number of times and one of his best pieces (there are many) is the guitar solo in Gene Vincent's 'Race with the Devil'. It's complicated and fast and Albert's interpretation is pure Cliff Gallup.
I'm watching this because I just read an article about a certain guitarist that named Albert Lee the #1 of all time and above Hendrix.....that guitarist was Clapton!
I love this, man. When you get right down to it, all the greats, the weekend warriors, and the guys sitting in their basement - we all just want to "play guitar!" Thanks for the vid
While UK has produced some great players Albert Lee stands alone in the country pickin' genre where USA players mainly dominated the country music scene. Albert Lee took it up to them with interest. Of course he has crossed many genres in the field and well known session man.
If I could play like that, I'd play all day just to listen to myself.
Me too
If you played all day eventually you might be able to play like that
@ Not a chance, but thanks😂😂
A master class guitarist.🎸🎵
I love how Albert says “I will try”. How humble can you get? Does he know how great he is?
He knows, he knows...
I don't think that's being humble, it's more like "sarcasm". He doesn't play for free you know, he knows how much he's worth by the money they pay him to play

Why didn't Albert Lee shine brighter all of his career? He's got to be one of the top-five all time great lead guitarists!
Mostly because he plays a genre that isn't that popular and is mostly a one-trick pony. He's a legend and has mastered his craft only his craft happens to not be most people's taste, unfortunately.
Poor management? Poor career choices? Bad luck? Lack of well-crated albums?
@zynosgd9982 one trick pony? You're trippin my friend

I think i saw the same tour. 78 in philly. Muddy opened the show. Albert Lee on second guitar. What fun show!

We had the absolute thrill and joy os seeing albert lee playing a few years ago.
Albert Lee.....Whew! still so fantastic!
I'm an instant fan of Albert Lee. I have never heard a more gifted, talented guitarist in my life. He is literally the best picker ever!
Albert is a musician's musician. Was privileged to have seen him in Ann Arbor a couple of years back. Talented and humble, what a combination.
Albert Lee is an incredible player.
How do 2 people dislike a video of a guitar genius playing improve like it was rehearsed?!
Went to see Albert in Wales. He walked into the pub we were having a meal in before the gig. My friend said are you going to go over and get his autograph? I said no, but I might warn him not to order the gammon egg and chips 😂
He is one of the greatest players of all time, and also a mentor and teacher to other notable players. Also about as humble as they come...
I'll never feel that Albert Lee gets the recognition he deserves. Such a brilliant musician.
What a guitar player, and what a human being. Big love to Albert.
Albert has such an extraordinarily light touch, really a unique, beautiful style of playing

Will never get tired of listening to him play. Great player and humility personified
my God - what beautiful playing
My sentiments as well!

Albert Lee. He's obviously read my 'how to play the guitar' pamphlet!
Only once

Saw him couple days ago in UK. Only about 200 there ! He was great .
One of the Masters of the Guitar.
Albert Lee is one o the greats!
Now this is Albert Lee... the only guy who plays 1000.000 notes, all of them essential...when more is more...
Legend... always under-valued but a master of his trade... Some guys can make anyone or any band they play with sound great... AL's one of those guys!
Thats Albert " one take " Lee right there genious 👍
Album worthy. Very talented man and my first time seeing him
Loved this. Superb
What an amazing player .... great scales , sweet & funky ...just the way we like it
