It’s great on a new engine and when it’s out of the car

It looks easy when the engines out. Now do it again with it still in situ on and older vehicle which has the engine mount in the way. When you can't get to anything or see anything.

you need to remove the engine mount. In order to do that you first have to lift up the car and remove the bottom tray, then the wheel arch plastic. Then you have to jack up the engine after loosinging the engine mount ever so slightly. As soon the engine starts to lift you can the remove the engine mount. If you don’t do that you can’t even get the belt off and on again..

@@Diesel8290 That is fast, suppose you do get faster when you have done a few, a lot of time spent depends on the condition of the vehicle, rusty bolts, oil and dirt, or issues like permatex on the WP last belt change (coz that is a half hour scraping and cleaning), sadly most new(ish) cars go to the original dealer, and I end upp with the 10 year old junk, I work on mostly Volvo / VAG but I do all common brands. I am not fast anymore (60y) so for me it is a half day

You don’t need to lock pin the fuel pump as it’s a TDCi common rail so timing that is pointless ! Yep like most people say easier in nice warm conditions but outside with minimal clearance is an all day job inc’ cam & crank seals / water pump etc .
