He had enough raw ability to still get the ball into the outfield with a not great swing, and enough speed to leg out an infield single. Once he started aging a little bit and those skills slowed down though all those just became outs.

As a black guy, i feel theres literally a top team in every sport with or made mostly or even only of black players that the whole issue about no black people being in baseball now, is a non issue. These teams have invested into Latin youth, thats enough care taken into diversity for me

Making this a race video was very unexpected. I love the history and showing that Tim Anderson got to wear a jersey so many black players were wrongly not allowed to wear. But putting blame on MLB for not having more black players is wild. The NFL is over 50% black and the NBA is around 80% black (depending on year). It statistically seems to be that black athletes typically pick other sports down the road. Even Anderson, the highlighted player in this very video, picked baseball over basketball later in his athletic career. I'm not angry about the statement or anything. I just get tired of people saying one thing to make something seem racist or not fair. Clearly the best baseball players get to the MLB. It's not about race.
Tim Anderson also picked Baseball over Basketball solely because of one factor: He is 6'2" and he thought that would mean he would never have an NBA career. He didn't do it because of some deep love for the game of Baseball.

I must be old cuz the Cowboys used to be the Yankees of my gen. Meaning they was always winning. I was actually a Cowboys fan back in the day which seems crazy now.
“Baseball hasn’t fully integrated” is the CRAZIEST take I’ve ever seen. It’s not up to other people to make incentive for black people to play, it’s up to them to choose to play. If black people don’t want to play baseball in the same numbers that they play football, that’s up to them.
I loved the section where you talked about baseballs racist past and connected that to how MLB doesn’t do enough to market baseball to young black kids. it was so true and really made the ending hit rly hard
Is he trying to imply that MLB has no diversity or something? Because if so that’s completely false and he knows it. Yes there are a lot of white guys in baseball but there’s also TONS of Hispanic players, Asian players and many others. Literally the best player in the league in Asian. MLB is probably the most diverse league in sports maybe behind the NBA.
Dude needs to realize that baseball is getting less popular here in the US. Baseball started to strongly prefer pay-to-play and black youth would rather play NFL or NBA over MLB
I haven't seen Field of Dreams to see if it mentioned this, but I did note at the Negro Leagues Museum that the White Sox owner at the time the Negro Leagues were founded was basically the biggest pro-segregation voice in the MLB.
12:11 Someone isn’t aware of the uniforms that the Sox often wore during the time that Bill Veeck owned them, well after the breaking of the color barrier.
You can't just compare 2 numbers and say "racism" without actually presenting evidence that racism caused the change in numbers. Maybe the black athletes that would be good at baseball are choosing basketball and football instead because those sports have grown in popularity since 1979 and baseball has declined in popularity since 1979
Yeah. And that’s partially on the MLB for not investing in the community of the sport. You think youth players these days are choosing football and basketball randomly? No. The NBA and NFL pour tons of resources and time into appealing to young people. Both to get them to play the sport and too watch it. The MLB has comparatively done a much worse job of that.
I can see why MLB wanted to keep that game on the schedule. After the week… month… three months… six months:.: year and a half we’d had, a little magic would be very welcome.
What a time to post this video. Showing what potential the White Sox had just as they’re about to have the worst record in modern baseball history.

I was at the game with my dad. Best game i've ever been to
Crazy how fast this team fell apart.
Except it is absurd and ridiculous in every way... other than that I agree with you
Is he trying to imply that MLB has no diversity or something? Because if so that’s completely false and he knows it.
Yes there are a lot of white guys in baseball but there’s also TONS of Hispanic players, Asian players and many others. Literally the best player in the league in Asian. MLB is probably the most diverse league in sports maybe behind the NBA.
How can you possible be this stupid?
Agreed
Dude needs to realize that baseball is getting less popular here in the US. Baseball started to strongly prefer pay-to-play and black youth would rather play NFL or NBA over MLB
This channel has fallen off massively. They're clearly taking DEI money because there was literally no reason to make this story racial whatsoever.
I haven't seen Field of Dreams to see if it mentioned this, but I did note at the Negro Leagues Museum that the White Sox owner at the time the Negro Leagues were founded was basically the biggest pro-segregation voice in the MLB.
We need a follow up on everything that happened to the Sox and Tim after that moment. 😢
The 2020 matchup was switched to White Sox vs Cardinals, not Yankees vs Cardinals
I LOVE FIELD OF DREAMS AND KEVIN COSTNER
12:11 Someone isn’t aware of the uniforms that the Sox often wore during the time that Bill Veeck owned them, well after the breaking of the color barrier.
Clemson breaking the 0-59 streak in Chapel Hill deserves a rewind.
Yep, good one. But what made Donovan McNabb finish his career Untitled?
