That left side gray connector has always given me a tough time. Mine is now missing the bottom cover and the springs, but still locks the sensor. If I ever have to change that sensor again, it will be super easy. Appreciate all your time and effort, excellent job with the video.. 👍
Thank you. Just got back from vacation and my girlfriend's vehicle wouldn't turnover. I was going to start by replacing the sensor itself, but right away noticing the wiring had been completely chewed through!
I replaced the sensor and the sensor plug on the driver's side. I avoided splicing new wires by using your pin replacement effort. Thank you. Great tip. I still struggle getting the connectors apart however.
You saved my ass something fierce. The entire plug came off the wiring harness leaving me with zero idea which wires went where because the ones I got from Amazon had 3 white wires. (Brilliant, Amazon seller, just brilliant). Try as I might I simply couldn't find anything that would actually show me the money without jumping through hoops. TY!
Just broke my yesterday in the exact same way. Saved the second as I learned from the first one. Ordered the replacement and will be doing through the push connectors. Video really helped. Thank you
Bro a rat chewed the actual wire from my harness on both camshafts, JUST one wire each one and now I know this fix is going to be cheap easy and not taking nothing off mechanically, your the best bro
Hey THANKS! Every damn connector has a different way to disconnect it and I had never seen that push-in type before. Luckily I didn’t break it before I found your video. Thx!
Thanks bro❤❤❤!! I've been racking my brain all week trying to figure this out for my Murano(it's basically the only thing keeping from passing inspection😩). On the Murano though; bank 1 is at a pretty complicated angle so, hopefully the next time I have to replace bank 1 I can wriggle my hands into that limited amount of space along with a mini screwdriver and pop it loose; I just have to "look with my hands" I guess like I have to do most of the time with this car👀=🤚..😂👍. Thanks again; your the best bro🤜🤛!
Tell me why 😂 the same shit happened to me not to long ago. Thanks for your video man. I had to search on how to unpin the wires and your video was really helpful. 💯
Thanks for the video. I just replaced the crank and cam sensors on my Xterra (VQ40DE) and of course the passenger side connector broke both locking tabs on my harness. The drivers side sensor came out of the head/engine super easily and the passenger side was extremely hard to wiggle and pull out of the motor and thats what caused me to break the harness clip even though I was trying to mainly grip the base of the sensor with my fingers when pulling and shimmying the sensor to try to get the sensor out of the motor.
Yeea, my drivers side sensor was easier to replace as well, I think I had the same issue where the passenger side sensor was just difficult to get out haha. I’m glad this video helped and thanks for the comment.
@@kamalakeel Thank you, got the connector Sunday from Amazon and put it on today. Ordered the single green connector for $10 since I didnt need the black one also that fits the drivers side sensor. No more duct tape lol
@@BigHeadBourbon hopefully you respond, but whenever you did but the duct tape, did your vehicle go to limp mode? Or the rpm’s began jumping. Because I broke two of my harness and I replaced it with tape, stupjd idea but yeah
Nice work. This is different than what I needed for my 2009 Toyota Tacoma, but you helped explain how to get the wires out once I finally found the replacement part: Camshaft Position Solenoid Connector - 612-048
Hey man, super awesome video, exactly what I was looking for haha. Any ideas why I can't even get my connector to snap? I'm this close to just splicing in a new connector
I try every day. The darn thing is making me feel crazy. I can pop the snap back and then as I try to pry the plug off the snap snaps back!! OMG!!!! I’ve tried unbolting it, but I don’t seem to have a thin enough socket or wrench to get around the part of the bolt that’s next to the plug. Do you have a recommendation?
salam Kamal, my mechanic just broke the plug without taking a photo for the wiring, i bought a new one but i don't know which wire should be on the right, middle and left sides, any idea ?
Curious why you didn't just cut the wires and crimp in the new plug? Is there some very valid reason not to do that? Asking because I'm about to replace mine and was going to just cut and crimp - not enough room back there to be doing all of this without pulling the entire harness. Thanks in advance.
I have cut and crimped wires on other vehicles where the wiring was damaged but since it was only my connector damaged I just decided to swap it out since I could and avoid cutting the wires but either way will work, I know not everyone is working on a 350Z and space to do this might be different on other Nissans. I would just try to use heat shrink over the crimp you make to keep moisture and crud out. It’ll also prevent abrasion between the wires. Thanks for the comment and I hope this was helpful.
@@kamalakeel Thanks for that. Yeah, I'm on a 2006 Frontier and space is TIGHT. Not sure I'll even be able to cut and crimp without removing the harness, but I guess I'm gonna try. Thanks for the quick response and for making the vid. Cheers.
Like i said man, you keep uploading vids that are directly related to my cars problems LOL. I wanted to update you in regards to my issue last time i commented, but unfortunatley i still havent fixed the issue. I was thinking my issue was the evap purge valve on my cayenne, i replaced that part and had a look at those 2 hoses and they were not leaking ( also did a smoke test, nothing apparently leaking) a couple days later i got a crankshaft position sensor code lol do you think this would be the root problem to my car stalling at low speeds and stalling while stopped? When it stalls the time it take for me to start it up has been increasing ( at first id leave it for 2-3minutes and it would start, now it takes about 10+ minutes to start after stalling) also sometime it will feel like im pressing the gas peddle when im stopped. I really appreciated your input last time and wished i fixed my problem so that i updated you with the results. Thanks again, God bless!
Well you could unbolt and remove the sensor with the connector still attached and then possibly have an angle to put a small screwdriver or something in the connector to try and get it off.
I know what you mean, I’ve done that plenty of times and it works well too. It is a tight space back there though so this way was helpful to just keep the OEM wire length.
HI KAMAL, So my Camshagt sensor went out, so i had my nephew come replace it and he cracked the connector, so i ordered a new connector and he never returned to finish the job. I watched your video and i feel confident enough to do it myself. I opened the hood of my 05 350z and he cut the wires and taped them, this makes the job alot more confusing for me, maybe its a girl thing idk. My question to you is the new camshaft connector I bought has 3 wires that are all Black, which is fine because i took a pic of your connector like you suggested Red, Black, and White, Heres the thing, WHY ARE THE HARNEST WIRES IN MY CAR BLACK AND PURPLE? i DONT KNOW WHAT THE GOES TO WHAT BECAUSE HE WIRED IT WRONG, WHEN I PLUG MY CAR IN, IT GIVES ME A BUNCH OF FAULTHY CODES, AND THAT IDIOT NEPHEW OF MINE IS NOWHERE SO I CANT ASK HIM WTH HE DID, IM SORRY JUST VENTING! APPRECIATE A RESPONSE IF YOUR NOT TO BUSY, THANK KAMAL
Anyone have any advice if the connector they bought didn't fit on the sensor? I bought the one for my specific car 2011 ford focus and the casing fits but the actual internals of the connector aren't fitting together and it's not clipping on but I can't find any other connectors for my car.
For the 350Z the crankshaft position sensor is actually located at the bottom of the engine where the engine and the transmission connect to each other. The camshaft position sensors are the ones at the top of the engine located at the rear of the cylinder heads. The connector I replaced was for the passenger side camshaft sensor in this video. The reason it can get confusing is because they use the same sensors for both the cams and crank so the names can get swapped around.
Yeah not a good idea to cut the wires. Better to repin . Splicing can change the voltage to the sensor. Each sensor needs specific voltage for each sensor
Help I replaced my crankshaft sensor and reset the code but the check engine light is still on saying I still have to replace the crankshaft sensor and now I'm thinking it could the the connector
