Yes. A pleasure working for the Odell family. 👪. Hey ighhhhhh! 👋
Avery are you getting any action in Victorville?
I've recently discovered your channel, and in the middle of DIY landscaping / patio walkway project. I like seeing your mechanical thought process and explanations. You guys are some of the best quality craftsmen/designers that I've seen. Thanks for helping me learn how to work with my soft soil, make a great base, and take my current project to the top level.
Awesome, thank you!
Been watching for a while now i love these videos very informative and therapeutic
Great clean work. Thank you for taking us along as you work

For being a concrete contractor you sure do a lot of other projects on these jobsites and you and your crew do it exceptionally well !
Yes, Thank you
it is great seeing generational excellence in the trades. from senior to jr...the work is fantastic. that is what real workmanship is all about. odell rules!!!
We appreciate that and we will continue to pass our skills down to the next
A lot of knowledge and experience to do that backyard. If I did that as a DIY my wife would be calling you to unscrew my handywork
No worries one 4x9 at a time
that looks really really good, and that blade is cutting through that brick like it's butter
Yes
Excellent!
TY
Great new intro! 👍👍👍
Thanks!
good job greetings from oklahoma city 👍🏻

Niceeeeee Workkkkkkk goooood

Very nice job!!

GREAT WORKMENSHIP

That turned out super mint bro, can't wait for the vid, your right wetting subgrade is key b4 compaction, but if u live in states that it freezes , you can over wet say if it's right b4 winter say late October or November, I think the bottom of the concrete is more important than the finish or just as much so, and alot of guys over look that
Keep up the good work, I was talking about concrete and pavers
Nice!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice job 👏
TY
Juan, you’re blowing it, bro.
OSS
Maybe get a sound recording room or he’ll even put the kids in another room then drink a Red Bull so I can finish watching the tutorial without falling asleep lol 😂 much love great work you guys
Good job
ty
HI there watched you channel for years, but never seen you do other options apart from pavers or concrete . tiles look awesome too if you choose the right option. that generally takes tact at persuading the client that they dont know.... then you have you client that tried and failed , and the wife insists they get someone that knows what to do, most fail on the prep work. then you have the dodgy pros that you some how have to salvage the mistakes they made . thats probably the hardest to fix , sometimes a complete rip out start from scratch. the most important is even if your a pro, sometimes things go wrong , bad weather bad mix, bad judgement, even if you lose money on the job, never lose faith , rectify the problem, it always pays off.... after all we are all human
Yes it's a tough sale
Here in NYC, it's fairly common for them to pour concrete first, then dump stone dust (not sure what you guys call it in Cali), then install pavers on top . I think it's really overkill if it's just a backyard, but for driveways it helps keep the paver system strong. Winters destroy concrete here, so pavers on top of tamped dirt don't do too well, due to the freezing and thawing of the ground beneath
Yes I can imagine this system would fail in a freeze thaw climate
#2 sweet 👍
To place

Good stuff
Ty

Do you add an epoxy or cement under each paver before laying them down on top of the sand?
Awesome work!
What camera do you guys use for the time lapse videos?
Go pro
It’s not like a Pro ! It’s PRO !! That’s it PRO 💯
Haha yes true 🤣
ya have to know what your doing that work takes experience !! not anyone can just do it (my opinion)
Juan had one too many budweisers the night before....haha!
Maybe
Good morning, I am a journeyman landscaper in Canada. I watch you guys set up your base with recycled concrete, is there an worry about degradation of the recycled concrete over time. Versus say a natural stone base? Jobs look nice, cheers!
That's a good point. I guess guess there is degradation with all materials. A good question is what's the time line ?

My old driveway had that Crush and roll cement bits. It gets messy but better than nothing.
Need to get concrete
@@OdellCompleteConcrete lol me por. Can't even afford that extra o :p
Awesome, you guys ever build brick houses? I could see them become more common seeing as price of lumber is on the rise. Wouldn't it be cheaper at this point?
Block or steel
Where the pavers meet the concrete do you set them 1/8 above grade so when they compact down they are even with concrete ?
Yes
Maybe instead of spraying the chalk lines for the wet saw cutting, instead go over them with a straightedge and carbide or diamond tipped scriber, scratching the line into the paver top surface. You can use an old carbide/diamond drill bit, saw blade, or other worn out tool, improvise a handle. Faster, cheaper, no supply worry, no lacquer residue to foul up the finish. Same with scribing a radius instead of a pencil.
Yes that sounds good
Yeah that drive from Victimville down through El Cajon is a doozie during prime time traffic. On a good day it will take you 1-2 hrs to get home from Los Angeles. Throw in an accident somewhere and its 3-5 hours.
Yes a real drag
How is this pavers over concrete when it shows laying down and compacting underlayment?
Most folks that have pavers in my neighborhood have seen them fade over time. What is the best product to fight this?
Glaze and seal
Where did you get these pavors?
Great job!!!
Orco
btw love ur channel , yeah you sometimes go wrong, thats ok , always fix it , your good name remains
TY
Love the new intro!
TY
pretty
TY
Can pavers be placed over my existing cement pad patio? It's in great shape but is exposed aggregate and is a pain to walk on.
Yes
Can you go back to your raised concrete anti catalytic theft job, show how it worked out?
I've heard it's working well
@@OdellCompleteConcrete smart idea for small companies, leaving their cars or trucks exposed. sucks for snow plow
What sealer do you use and how long does it last?
Glaze and seal
Depends on the environment
👍💪🤠
Do you seal the pavers? If so, what brand?
Glaze and seal
What did you do to make the papers glossy...
I think they look better glossy...
water
@@OdellCompleteConcrete
I thought it was a specific sealer that made it look glossy all the time...
you ~ !!!!!!!!!!!
TY
Tim is doing / has done, a great job, shame he isn't narrating
Maybe the next one
What brand is the level screeder?
Milwaukee
@@OdellCompleteConcrete thanks for the reply! What part of California do you work out of? I vacation to Southern California quite a bit maybe one of these times I could come work for you if you ever need extra hands on site.
How we get everything perfect... well perfect enough: that's how I roll.
Bingo
What would be the estimate for a job like this?
5500
Lol it's probably triple that. You guys aren't cheap.
She’s so beautiful
TY
Arizona property update?
Soon we will be going out in January to do some work
@@OdellCompleteConcrete you got me and I'm sure others considering leaving this sinking ship for elsewhere.
Digging the new intro! This job is looking nice!!
Ty
i could tell you many major failures of pros going completely off the rails , then we were called in to fix it , all types of construction, footing , brick work, block work , carpentry the list goes on. what most tradesmen fail to grasp, if it takes you a little bit longer to do it right it, it saves 3 times. 3 times u ask? the first time , not done right, the second time rip it out either completely or partially , the 3rd time, get it right, far better off doing it right the 1st time. the client is never right on design but always right on expectations. its a hard concept to imagine , but , yes it works
That's how I like to roll
New opening? Looks sweet
Yes
If the house is square why don’t you put the border first on long side and start the pavers from there this will save some cuts and time
Good question
I do pavers too and I can tell this save you time and saw cuts this tipe of pavers allow you to work with straight line edges
I always start with border than pavers some jobs allowed me to cut just one side
Where's the sod video
Coming soon
I love you’re video but I just think there’s nothing perfect
If there was perfection, we would have nothing to do
Pavers in snow country is a bad idea for a driveway.
I'll bet it is
You don’t have enough sand down
1" max
Pretty thin on your sand…
Thin to win
Give Juan a break 🙄
Maybe in 20 years
use a string - these things are not rocket science and you are not even close to any science here.
Your the Wizard
You guys do good jobs but move way to slow and way to lazy😅 you guys would not last on our crew… We pour at least around 100 yards a week… but I guess there bigger pads
Wow that intense
You do nice work. I'm in the business also. And anytime I see pie cut here and a pie cut there on a true radius? Its a shortcut..love your vids
Ty
ive tried everything to keep from my mark washing off with my concrete saw. Ive even tried a paint marker.
It works
