You guys look really excited playing with these amps. Its nice to you see guys playing with so much passion and enjoying it so much. Keep rocking Rob, Capt. and PhilX
i always love it when lee plays the blues
Ive been watching these demos for ages, and this ranks with my all time favs. Great gear, GREAT tones and awesome playing from both you guys. You were killin it! And as always, plenty of humor. Awesome demo, and cheers from the US :)
Sincerely,
a devoted minion :)
I love you guys, what u do is really great, and i hope you continue it and become widely known.
Yea, I always love it when Lee plays. It's so musical.
captain is in the zone in this video, really enjoyed watching.
cheers
You guys are both killer blues players. I'm only 4 minutes into this and already downloading it for future reference.
Captain got it going! Nice tone & style.
Bought one of these yesterday from Andertons, excellent amp! Excellent staff as well I must have tried every amp in the price range in there for a long time. Staff were very helpful and informative! Shame I couldn't afford a Victory!
I like the bright setting out of all three.
a jim root telecaster playing jazz, and a awesome evil robot thank u jim root and phil x and thank u guys for doing the review
the captain really played well @ 5.47 i had to rewatch and listen again. true blues there.
As an electronic effect, vibrato and tremolo are both based on filter modulation by a low frequency oscillator. The difference is the waveform of the LFO. A vibrato effect is modulated by a triangle or -in some cases- a sine wave, whereas a tremolo is modulated by a square wave
It's a little amazing that a few product plug videos can build some real hype about you guys and Phil X doing something together. The power of youtube.lol
definitely. lee's blues playing is just tasty. his hand tone man
Great stuff as always, love you guys.
that intro was a hell of a sound, amazing
i want this. now. oohh man this is LEGEND!!!! Soundmonsta
Bit of both - we use the amp the way Phil X does - the clean & dirty rhythm tones are just the amp, and then we use a pedal to thicken up the lead tones.
I can only imagine how good it sounds in real life ... nice vid
Love your blues playing dude :)
The Captain singing "Willkommen" makes me happier than I dare mention...
Just got mine, unbelievable! Nuff said,
When I can drive I'm going to go to that shop one day just to say I've been there!
Rhys Hone can you drive yet?
I have one of the early USA models. I love it!
Nooo, i was about to do some studying, and then you upload this video !!! ;)
I love Rob's White Snake impression haha it's hilarious. I am a White Snake fan and it's funny
That Les Paul is stunning!
Nice to see another SG.
God I love this amp...kudos Chaptain!
you teaseing us by mentioning phil x.
DO IT PLEASE.
the reason i commented on two in such a short time is because i saw this on the side bar.
i would also like to thank you honistally thank to you i have tryed soooo many different styles.
coming from a former closeminded metalcore/trash player.
just listening to you and watching you helped me develop my own style.
i play everything from metal sweeps to blues to trebley country solos and EVERYTHING in between thanks man.
If Lee would play so good in every video.. damn. Well done mate!
Never thought I'd hear Cabaret while watching an amplifier demo! Good show! haha!
that tele sounds amazing through that amp!!!!!!!!
GOD DAMN....! CAPTAIN...! YOU SOUND LIKE YOU'VE BEEN ON THE CHITLIN CIRCUIT...MAN...! THATS A WHOLE LOT OF SOUL...! AND I'M A BRUTHA I KNOW...!
LOVE YOU GUYS ALWAYS MY PLEASURE TO VIEW YOUR DEMOS
CHEERS FROM NEWPORT BEACH, CA.
I love how on more than half of these reviews they always start off with Chappers and Lee laughing :3
@TonusDiabolicus You're right - my bad. The amp does use 6v6's.
C'mon man, SRV is a legend! These guys are great.
That amp sounds amazing.
Chappers i am definitely seeing you this june with Phil X !
FYI: When changing tubes, never touch the glass with your bare hands. The oil from your hands will damage the glass when the tube heats up, and shorten the life of the tube drastically. Use rubber/ latex gloves or a small piece of newspaper to hold the tubes while you plug them into their sockets. If you do touch the tube with your bare hands, wipe it down with alcohol and let it dry before turning the amp on
Sounds amazing
Loudness, the Japanese hair metal band? soldier of fortune?:p
Tremolo: Varying the volume over time
Vibrato: Varying the pitch over time
The tremolo on a guitar is incorrectly named, as far as every other instrument is concerned.
FINALLY someone else points this out!
I know yeah, I read one of the comments and I was like... "20 years of awesomeness? wow"
These guys are quite hard in love with Phil X.
No, the Evil Robot amp is, in essence, a more modern (and much more affordable) all-tube combo. It has four 6V6s in the power section along with three 12AX7s, a 12AU7, and a 6AV6 in the preamp. And I believe they're made in either Korea or China to keep the cost down
YEAH! the capt goin to town!!!
The overdrive sound at 15:57 rocks!!!!! Reminds me of Pete Townsend on the Jools Holland Show once :-)
cool video nice sounding amp... when are yous going to be doing demo vbideos of the 1 watt marshalls? cheers,
evil evil robot Hell Yeah...
nice telecaster btw that the Jim Root signateur Hell yeah again
@hawg427 I actually prefer the feel of the baked maple board, but tonally it is a bit more snappy than a regular SG which gives the guitar a different character.
@YokoHimura08 It's to do with the way the signal passes through the output valves. It's a bit too complicated to explain in the space you get to write on you tube, but Wikipedia has a full explanation.
Amazing amp!!! and is that the Jim Root tele I see?
Hellzzz yeah , the high five timing was in sync with the song !!! 2:17
12:55 wow nice calluses Rob!
Blues and the Evil Robot
i love that Jim Root tele
sg sounds smooth as chocolate
Lee, how do you like the Tone of the Limited Edition SG's with the Baked Maple Fretboards? How would you compare them to a Rosewood tone? Sounds a TAD bit brighter to my ears on this video.
Vibrato is like rolling the tone knob.
Tremolo is like rolling the volume knob.
Evil ROB Chappers!!!! AWESOME
The larger tubes with be run slightly cooler bias due to the bias resistor made for 6v6 and also run cooler due to the higher impedance load from the OT when used correctly (matching speaker impedance to the showed impedance out)..
Power amp tubes are 4x 6V6.
4x EL34 would give you around 100watts of power with a classic Marshall style implementation.
Keep in mind that not all tube amps have their preamp tubes in order. Sometimes they're arranged out of sequence, such as V1, V4, V2, V5, V3 for example.
When is Richi Sambooka and Wilda-Beast coming back!? :D love that video
3:53 Epic Troll face Rob! ;)
Rob is is an amazing guitarist no doubt, although there is something really special about lee's playing...
Too bad this amp's discontinued. Great sounding.
Good point :) both are sick guitars though!!!
That black and white tele, is that a James Root signature? The sustain on it is amazing
The 12AT7 gives quite a good Keef tone dunnit!
Vibrato-Changes string pitch
Tremolo-Changes the volume level
I CALL DIBS ON ONE OF THOSE BAD BOYS! GOOD GOD - THEY SOUND INCREDIBLE! :D
Captain on fire
One of the amps that i must have.
MZA......MZA rock'n roll crazy nights!
looks great - but...
would be nice with reverb built in....
And I'm sure there is a good reason... but it it's a pity you can't use the vibrato + effects loop at the same time... a lot of people will want reverb in the loop - thus not allowing for use of vibrato :-(
maybe there will be a second revision with updates to these in the future!?
I want an Evil Robot, it suits what I need for tone to a T and doesn't tear down the house while achieving it; however I cant decide between the USA Handmade and the Offshore cheaper model. I have only ever heard them used separate from each other, maybe Andertons should do a USA spec VS Offshore spec to see how much if at all the tone varies.
I like that thing you have on your head ;-)
Rob, at 14:48 what Les Paul is that Lee is using? Is it just a standard? Looks incredible
au7 sounds great!
CAPTAIN!! That Strat tone has never sounded better! Use one of these amps to gig with!
Great Amp
Would be interesting a comparison between the non handwired and the handwired evil robots amps
Different amp really - the EVR has a more fierce drive tone & cuts through more. The Fender has a lovely clean tone & a softer drive sound.
THAT is tone.
Tweed would look the business!
hey Rob, what about asking Lee if it could be possible to sell PX-90 pickups at andertons, since we are all excited about Phil X, imo PX-90s + Evil Robot... its like combination that is ment to be played together and it would be awesome if andertons could sell them.
I've already bagged on these guys too much. If you enjoy their playing then that's awesome. However I would suggest you watch any Stevie Ray Vaughn live video or DVD for some great blues playing.
Its really good thing for that price :)
OMFG. chappers with a jim root tele?!? :O :O win!
It's a SG standard in natural burst color. Unfortunately, it comes with the baked maple fretboard. I had a 2001 natural burst custom order from a Japanese seller that I recently sold and the wood selection had nothing to do with this "reissue" (mine had a one piece body, you can see a video of it in my channel).
No mate, I prefer the 2012 to the Axcess... but it really depends on wether you want a traditional looking LP or not ;-)
I'd be very interested to hear how the Evil Robot sounds together with a CMATMODS Brownie... That pedal, wich originates from the BSIAB project (Brown Sound in a Box) (The Eddie van Halen sound) gives a Fender style amp (Twin for instance) that Eddy van Halen Marshall sound.
This is a more a '50's generic 'forgotten amp' sound wich we all know from those 'forgotten records'. So since it's a very different amp by design. I'd love to hear that pedal on this amp.
Rob, in one video u said the Les Paul AXCESS was the nicest LP you've played. Is that still true??!!!? \m/
Yup its a Rootin Tootin Root!
DAAAAAAAMN check out that jim root tele !! INSANE !
The thing the capitain playes @ 16:23 really sounds Brian May-ish, is it a Queen song ?
Fretted Americana is saying they will be available in mid-late May 2012. Any day now......:)
