Not sure if anyone else noticed but the black jacket NPH wears has fake shirt cuffs sewn into it. Watched the opening countless times and it just stood out to me.

When I heard they scrapped this opening for the 2011 Tonys I was so bummed but it made more sense for them to do it the next year after they had already won. Plus “It’s Not Just For Gays Anymore” had A+ lyrics.
Its interesting that the camera panned to Audra McDonald. Her husband, Will Swenson, was in a movie called "The Singles Ward" which is making fun of the LDS singles scene.

Fun fact: the host doesn't determine everything about the opening. There are a lot of writers involved too.
For example, Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote one of NPH's other awards show songs, and no doubt he had a hand in writing some of this one too - if not all of it.
