THIS....this my friends is what Hollywood is supposed to be. Not the egotistical jackasses that represent Hollywood today. The folks like Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Robert Downey Jr, Keanu Reeves, Martin Scorsese, the late Chadwick Boseman .... You know, people who realize that the world doesn't revolve around them, those folks are very very few and far between.
So agree with you. These performers are amazing, makes you laugh, cry go Oooh. and Wow. The above people go above and beyond not only with their performances, but with the lives they live.
There needs to be a level of professionalism and civil behavior. Yes, some 'comedy' goes too far or is not funny, but to resort to assault was dreadful. Apart from the theater audience, there is an audience at home, and this is Hollywood's chance to show its quality, its good side in a market of cheap streaming services.
When Hugh scooped her up, and took her on stage I didn't know what the hell was going on, but when Anne started singing, I sat back and enjoyed it so immensely! My God! What a lovely voice she has!
now that Logan has come out and knowing that hes gone forever, i am so touched when at the end he says " I Am Wolverine". you truly are. You are the one and only Wolverine. you made my entire childhood and now both of you have come to an end. thank you for all these 17 years.
Can someone please tell me why they don't just do this for every single opening? It's so entertaining, problematic-free, actually celebrates the movies in a light-hearted way, and let's whoever performing be creative with it, which is essentially what the damn show is awarding lol.
Because there's rarely any Broadway stars these days that are interested in hosting the Oscars and that's unfortunate. Ariana DeBose is likely the closest one that someday and hopefully we will get to see her hosting the Oscars as she did it so well hosting the Tony Awards back in 2022 with her amazing "This Is The Round Of Applause" opening number. +Logan y Logan :O Y de repente un comentario de Logan en un video jaja.. Saludos de un fan de tu canal Logan xD
Un abrazo bro!
Logan y Logan a
Logan y Logan una leyenda frente a otra
Logan y Logan yes totally agree
Why do I want Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman to play the phantom and Christine. Like I could see it going really well
They'd never let Raoul get the girl, that's why.
Come to think of it, you're right. They should play them!
Because they originally were supposed to but had schedule conflicts lol
lizythewizz meow I just need this to happen
@@lilymoss-yerg9666 I could also see Cumberbatch as the phantom !.
yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
I come back every now and then to rewatch. It’s my absolute favorite Oscars
opening
Hello Annie
How are you doing today?
Happy new year. With a grateful heart, I wanna say thank you for your kind words. Your kind words attracted me.
It's an honor entertaining you. Where are you texting from dear
Hugh is so talented and seems like such a cool guy. Oh and he's really good looking.
Literally the best opening ever! And such an awesome ending with “I’m wolverine”
holy freakin fuck, i knew anne hathaway is a broadway artist and can sing... but holy fuck she nailed it on so many levels
I believe her voice is classically trained.
+LordShaitaan did you not watch les mis?
nope
+LordShaitaan you should watch her song to Hugh on the Oscars of 2011 (I think) :D
xxes11xx
nah cause Hugh is a real jackass ;)
You know you're doing something right when the A lister stars give you a standing ovation after a performance
Random fun fact: Dan Harmon, creator of Community and Rick & Morty, wrote this opening monologue for High Jackman
I scrolled just for this comment, Harmon actually won a Emmy for this!
Also, Ben Schwartz, who voiced Sonic these days wrote some of the jokes for the opening monologue
I think this is the only Oscars Opening Number that I've seen get a standing applause. Go Hugh!
which is wierd because Niel was equally good if not better
No Neil Patrick Harris hosted the Oscars last year in 2015. His theme/song was 'Moving Pictures' and he had a duet with Anna Kendrick and Jack Black.
It's good. Try to find it if you can.
standing OVATION!! WHY am i here !~? WOLVERINE!!
i love how he has to stop himself from laughing it's so cut! i think he was the best oscar host
For me tied with Billy Crystal.
I watch this video once every couple of years. No particular reason why, it just randomly comes up in my mind and I feel compelled to watch it everytime. It's so satisfying
loved how he hadn't seen the reader so the segment for that was completely random, too funny!
This is actually my fave intro to the Oscars, by far.
Knowing this was filmed before Les Miserables - you could already see the chemistry ❤️
just had to look it up
Hugh Jackman did musical theatre long before television and movies
@@Kalani_SaikoI think he means the chemistry between him and anne
Dude really can sing & dance. What an actor.
Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway need to do more movies togheter, I need them to
les miserablè?
RR0aR i think that's the most obvious one, are there any more?
they should do more duets
THIS....this my friends is what Hollywood is supposed to be. Not the egotistical jackasses that represent Hollywood today. The folks like Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Robert Downey Jr, Keanu Reeves, Martin Scorsese, the late Chadwick Boseman .... You know, people who realize that the world doesn't revolve around them, those folks are very very few and far between.
Well said
Eh I'm not sure about Scorsese after he flippantly dismissed the superhero movies...
@@mozdaboz Everybody has an opinion, including Scorsese, I guess.
I disagree this performance is how broadway is.
So agree with you. These performers are amazing, makes you laugh, cry go Oooh. and Wow. The above people go above and beyond not only with their performances, but with the lives they live.
Please bring him back. After the Will Smith/Chris Rock fiasco, he's the only one that can save the Oscars.
He is the only one I can trust
... and put him on the sinking ship? No thank you.
You're probably right.👍
They need to bring Ricky Gervais up in that bih...He'll take care of it, lol.
this is hosting with class! not putting anyone in the hot seat!
I think this was Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman's audition for Les Miserables!!
Holy crap wow, I think you're onto something.
Hugh Jackman didn't need an audition
***** Hugh Jackman is whatever Hugh Jackman wants to be
and at 4:59 was the time the director of les miserables had an epiphany of who he should cast in the movie.
"Ladies and gentlemen, your Craigslist Dancers!" Epic.
I keep coming back to this all the time. That duet is so wonderful, I actually want a Frost/Nixon romantic musical.
he's got great stamina ... singing and dancing and has absolute control over voice
Hugh is just such a talented passionate artiste!!
Lindo
M Catherine W You said it. Hugh Jackman sure has a cute laugh.
When the oscars still had class
7:08 gives me goosebumps after watching Deadpool and Wolverine
Both are great singers but OMG Anne Hathaway could really sing high notes. Very Beautiful.
More and more I appreciate her talent as an actress and very, very good singer.
The best oscar monologue period. Anne was amazing 👏 Hugh is such a graceful performer. The ending has a separate fan base.
I watched this a couple of times. ...you know how hard that is ?? He never stumbled or missed a beat. That was amazing
And almost 10 years after this, The Greatest Showman released
Yep, and the producer of The Greatest Showman was the producer of this Oscar show. It was his idea to make Jackman as PT Barnum
Can someone please tell me why they don't just do this for every single opening? It's so entertaining, problematic-free, actually celebrates the movies in a light-hearted way, and let's whoever performing be creative with it, which is essentially what the damn show is awarding lol.
Well Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab wrote it, so just hire them again.
They prefer to have a slap
😅😅😅😊😊😊😊😊😊 7:45
Because there's rarely any Broadway stars these days that are interested in hosting the Oscars and that's unfortunate. Ariana DeBose is likely the closest one that someday and hopefully we will get to see her hosting the Oscars as she did it so well hosting the Tony Awards back in 2022 with her amazing "This Is The Round Of Applause" opening number. Idk if Neil Patrick Harris is interested again and Hugh Jackman is currently busy filming movies so there;s that
When is NPH not interested in doing a musical number? @@800Ms-k6n
That's a nice blue and black dress Anne has on.
Lol
oh no you didn't
100% accurate
Omgg
+Charlie Drummond you are sooooo right
I come back to this video every couple of years. I think of it at random times and it always boosts my mood.
I love how he just ends with "I'm wolveriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnee!"
Its 2020 and still the best opening in Oscar history
I agree
You forgot Ellen. But yh, this is good
I agree
it will always ve the best one.
Jjlinny 2345 I’d argue Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin were good hosts. So was Billy Crystal.
Why is Hugh so humble, talented, charming, good at singing & so sweet at the same time?
Awesome! Perfectly beautiful! Also that stamina!
Well he is an Aussie❤they all are talented
I said it before and I’ll say it again and I’ve been watching the Oscar’s since I was six years old and this was one of the best Oscar opening performances ever
