They missed out my sister was a dancer but she got cancer.
I know! That's the best part!!!
+Terry Ng it is
Ha that's my favorite part!
I noticed that! Thats one of my favourite parts too.
We had time restraints with the rest of the showcase and had to cut it out.
'being gay is bad but lying is worse'
Best line in any musical ever! I died laughing
Too bad you had to base it off of this performance. It is far etter anywhere else. Ignore this turn of a performance and watch one of the other tours because this really doesn't hold a candle. The director slacked off big time.
@@calilyricist24
Yeah
@@calilyricist24 Still good. Just different
@@calilyricist24you seem pretty bitter, you’ve replied to multiple comments like this
"No I'm not having gay thoughts..." *awkwardly tries to be hetero*
Emily Malfoy I love your profile picture. You can't just GO to Pigfarts, it's on Mars!
Not all of us could afford to buy out NASA Potter. We've got Rumbleroar.
Emily Malfoy me af
"Shut up Malfoy you little sh*t"
- Everyone
Pigfarts? Isn't that the greatest wizardry school in the galaxy?
The tap dancing part took me completely by surprise holy crap
Also... Take the gay box and CRUSH IT! Lol
I know right? Who would have thought tap is surprisingly cool?
Stephen Beaver really? Paula Abdul based her career on it in the late 80s/early 90s. It made her a huge star.
@@calisongbird Also, the Nicholas Brothers, Gregory Hines, Savion Glover and Michael Flatley, et al. It doesn't matter whether it's cool; it's a recognized art form that takes skill, dedication, talent and practice. It's terrific to watch and truly stunning when it's done properly.
SAdly, you were jipped. This is a sloppy rendition of a legendary play. Get your money back.
If you watch again and look at their shoes you can see they’re tap shoes :)
that's a lot of hip movement for Mormons
lyss haha funny just so ya know Mormons actually do a lot of dancing we even have church dances yes with actual good music and slow dancing and we have a dance festival and BYU has like I think the best college dance team in the nation ( I'm not sure on that one but I think so ) so we actually get a lot of hip movement/ dancing
Anna Thaler You know this musical is a parody of mormans, right?
Neith duh
Neith Yeah, duh. They were just confirming it, since they are Mormon.
EthniC MovEMEnT
That was exactly what they told all of us. No matter what the orientation.....this had to be written by an x Mormon. Hilarious, clever, entertaining and perfect performance by the whole cast. Really good.
I think it was actually written by the writes of South park!
@@emmashistoryspace they had another guy help write it, Robert Lopez I think. They probably did some research into the church as well to get insights like this.
They are in fact, former mormons. Lol. And so am I. And bi as hell.
The writers of South Park have lots of friends that were (or still are) Mormon so they're familiar with all of it..
@@katieswartz782 ARE TREY AND MATT BI?????????
People aren't realizing that the females are playing male roles. Like I want to have the part of Elder Price.
I noticed?
I noticed big time, which is why this version is horrendous. Seriously this is NOT AT ALL representative of the genius that they ignored in the script. This is a classic case of a subpar director trying to make someone else's work their own!
@@calilyricist24 or they didn't have enough boys to play all the roles. i've noticed in theater it's harder to find boys to play certain roles.
@@calilyricist24 disagree
Extremely distracting.
I went to a camp over the summer and two of my friends that were in the acting department started singing this and I never laughed so hard in my life.
the ryan reynolds-esque lead was incredible!!
Thanks! I've had a few people tell me I look like him.
He was the only good thing in this.
+Tom Ragen you're amazing in this. don't stop acting and singing
+Tom Ragen who did u play?
I actually he looked like Ryan Gosling haha
damn I'm still gay
love the tap dancing
Alora Sandlin JUST TURN IT OFF
Can't crush my gay box.
you don't understand aLL THE BOXES ARE GAY
博恩的歌 真的讚
把情緒關掉就好
我也是因為博恩來聽這首歌的!
This is the best choreographed rendition of this song I've seen
Thank you so much! Lisa Graham-Wilson is a very talented choreography.
I agree
disagree, but not bad. excludin the missing the enfasis of the singer on certain points, it is totally professionally put together.
"My sister was a dancer, but she got cancer" I absolutely DIED at this in the theater knowing exactly where it was going, and then it turns out to be even better than I thought
Why did they skip the cancerous dancing sister verse?
Im Velos We had a time restraint in the show and had to shorten the piece. That was the section we decided to remove.
Tom Ragen Why did you pull the harmonization on the "nifty little mormon tirck"?
+Ian Cohen It's there, just not very loud.
Because it was a mediocre production. The director screwed up, as well as the host because NOT A SINGLE SCENE needed to be altered. Whomever saw this abysmal performance should get their money back. They were screwed and had amazing punchlines taken away from them from an untalented director. SHAME
@Libennly good point. It's too new. But after enough time it well be, not every play sweeps the Tony's.
Wow, just watching the speed and execution of the moves is exhausting. And so wonderfully agile. Great job guys!
Thank you!
+Tom Ragen Tom, I LOVE this! I'm an atheist, but I really appreciate talent and hard work, and it's obvious that you guys have and employ both in large quantities. Anyway, I wanted to ask: Is the cast largely agnostic/atheist? If not, then that makes it even more amazing that the cast could do such a fantastic job anyway.
JW3HH
Then you will be blown away once you see REAL professionals do it. This performance is horrible! Outdone by directors who care about capturing the magic of the original. You were severely screwed. Please research that anything done by Tom Ragen is going to be a budget and time conscious subpar performance. This is genuinely horrible.
@@JustWasted3HoursHere You idiot. He didn't write nor did the cast show up thinking that the script would be different. Holy crap, are you that naive for an atheist?
I only know this song because i shouted turn it off at my amazon echo and its actually catchy and strange
I hope the guy who's playing Elder McKinley is ACTUALLY gay cause damn 😏🙃
They are all gay... it's show business!
We aren't all gay. But Elder McKinley (me) is.
Tom Ragen
I was talking about the 'men'... The women were probably heterosexual.
+Tom Ragen Okay well you're BAE
+James Santiago that's stereotypical.
We sang this in coffee shop while I was wearing my "Straight Out of the Closet" shirt,😂😂
Oh god, I want a shirt that says that 😂
I saw the book of Mormon on the Londons west end! was the most funny magical experience of my adult life!! was spectacular and i cant wait to see it again! this version is different in many ways particularly the Steve glade description . tho this version is also superb!!! if not unique well done sir!
nanofienduk Same here, back in 2014. Was the highlight of my London trip!
* funniest, most magical
Ever since I found this little gem I have loved it from the start I think it's better than the original cast performance
Love it, these guys voices are amazing
Thank you so much!
*sees elder Mckinley* MY HETERO SIDE JUST LOST
Oh this is hilarious and glorious! I hope nobody took this too personally though, even though it's bound to have happened.
+Dapple Flightless They did, of course. But everyone is entitled to an opinion and it generates more traffic for me! Which is what I want :)
Tom, fantastic! You're in Australia? Where was this performed? Just a first class performance! Did you take it on tour? "Broadway quality." Bravo!
This is the best version of the song ive seen! You are doing it so professionaly, sing, act and dance. All clean cut.
Very enjoyable, thank you!
Really appreciate your comment. Thank you!
Shai Genosar They skipped some parts. The best performance I've seen was on Broadway with Nic Rouleau and John Christopher O'Neill.
Good job here, though.
not as good as the original.
Yeahhhhhhhh if this is the best version you have seen, than you definitely haven't seen the original. You can find the whole show on youtube with the original broadway cast. Watch that.
YOURE SHITTING ME!! YOU must have just gotten your eyesight back. I've seen this play 5 times and this is easily the worst of all 5. Lazy costumes and direction. You really need to reevaluate yourself.
In the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah, a rite of passage was to pin your companion on the floor and try to sit on his face. Out in the field, some missionaries would shower together. There's a lot of truth to this song. Fucking hilarious. Thank you for posting this.
Pants haha I don't know where you heard all that but as a Mormon im letting you know that it's not true
I didn't hear about it anywhere. That's what we used to do to each other in the Erastus R. Snow building on the Provo MTC campus. Gay Mormon missionaries are one of the worst kept secrets in the Mormon church. Everybody knows about it, but no one wants to admit it. The fact that gay Mormon missionaries are a lot more common than you think is what makes this song so funny.

Pants that's odd I've actually never heard anything about that
This is very impressive and professional. Definitely Broadway level talent here!
Umm, have you actually seen a broadway show? Because this is good, but not nearly that good.
I am a Russian bot. ... ummmm. Book of Mormon has been on broadway.
@@docholliday9635 this is not the broadway production though
My goal: be straight
My obstacle: basically everyone who has ever played an Elder in a production of BOM
I'm so jealous that my sister got to see this musical, this is the best satire I've ever seen in my life.
I'm not joking.
Literally the only criticism I have of this is that actual sister missionaries don't wear the same thing as the elders (although I guess I can see why this would be preferable from a costuming aspect). But other than that this was FANTASTIC.
this made me cry tears of pure joy and rainbows
The little nervous laugh is the best part
I liked this, but why was the role of Elder McKinley divided into the different parts? And other people were telling him not to have gay thoughts, instead of him telling himself that. Also, the "Crush it" part was directed at McKinley in this, not Price.
That all probably sounded pretty critical.Sorry. I did like it though, a lot, but I was just wondering.
maybe more people having singing parts would have complicated the routine? not sure tho
diefacingourfoes ..not ass much critical but more anal.
I’m pretty sure same guy played price and McKinley in this. I think they only performed this song and had a restricted cast so they just made them the same character
i think it's because they had so many people (and they also probably performed it like a few times) cause otherwise so many people wouldn't have a "speaking" part
Why are you telling this to this guy he didn't make it he just posted the vid
at .5 speed it sounds like they're drunk XD
FABULOUS performance!!! Amazing choreo, great singers!
I wish we could do this for our school musical 😹
I've never seen the Broadway, and until I read the comments, I thought this was it!
I at first thought that this was miming. This is great!
i love the tap dancing part its amazing
that tap dancing got me like "HOLY MOLY"
Love it! I know people that say the whole 'you can have the thoughts, just don't act on them'
Very good. makes you appreciate how much goes into a broadway production, every thing being synchronised. TBH - I came on here to see if they did that crazy costume change mid performance.
The sound of the tapping was chef’s 🧑🍳 💋
3:50 THE CHOREOGRAPHY IS AWESOME HERE
This is honestly the best thing I've watched
Thinking about going to see this. But I'm wondering if there's a musical satire about Scientology, yet? If not, there needs to be.
I think they would sue. Scientologists sue almost anyone who pokes fun at theirreligion which is a shame cause it would be amazing
The closest thing I know of is a single SNL skit in which they parody a famous video that was PRO Scientology, and the skit is called Neurotology.
Making a play about the most litigious religion in the world would be a bad bad bad idea
just watch the South Park (creators of this play also) episode that made fun of Scientology
kelli henderson nope everyone who tried to start production was assassinated by the church of Scientology.
Oh wow! This is fantastic! You all have really great expressions and amazing voices. And your Elder McKinley was amazing when he told his story, he's always been my favorite part of this song. Great job to your entire cast!
PS- You have an amazing voice, never stop performing :)
fabulous choreo!!!!
Thank you! This piece was choreographed by Lisa Graham-Wilson.
Aww. I was waiting to hear the guy who went to the Apple Store while his sister was dying . That's my favorite verse! Great production, anyways.
I know these words by heart..
just happened to be looking at book of Mormon videos and came across this and fell in love with it, even better than Hello
I’m not a religious person but lowkey I like this song.
I love this! Such sleek choreography and amazingly performed! Well done :)
Many years later and i still watch this 😂
My 7 year old loves this song
No one cares
@@pongo1342 I don't care if no one cares
Amanda E you should. Itll save you some ridicule
@@pongo1342 no one's ridiculed
Amanda E dude im ridiculing you. No one gives a shit that your 7 year old loves this song. You probably shouldnt show your 7 year old this musical.
I clicked on "like", like a light switch.
This reminds me off talking to my grandmother "being gay is okay as long as they don't lay with each other"
i found this by accident and I cannot stop laughing
WOW!! You never stop impressing me with your versatility Tom. We are soooo grateful that you teach at Pulse. Your fabulous energy and honest delivery is second to none. Love ya :)
Tom was the best at singing ^-^
These people are so talented!!
An awesome Interpretation of this song. And Tom Ragen is genius as always.
Blown Away! Amazing!
Such a great Show I love it
This is fantastic! love the choreography.
Got half way through watching this and was thought I recognised Logan, well done to you all .
I have found my new favorite musical.
amazing masterpiece
Excellent performance!!!
Love it.
It's a terrific performance. Is anyone else hung up on the fact there aren't female Mormon Missionaries?
There are actually sister missionaries. Instead of like for example "Brother Cunningham" it would be Sister Cunningham. There are just not as many.
ilovemichellephan656 The reason there are not as many females as males going on a mission is because it is mandatory for the boys and only voluntary for the girls, and also because the average Mormon girl's "mission", traditionally at least, is to get married as soon as possible and start cranking out new little Mormons.
+ilovemichellephan656 They also generally wear dresses rather than shirts and ties.
+Todd C haha yeah that's true. I just left out most of the details. I'm actually LDS! :)
+Dorothyellen w lol that's more of a Utah Mormon thing. I'm from Connecticut and it's a whole lot different being a Mormon in any other state besides Utah
Oh! This song makes me laugh every time!
WONDERFUL
Tom is great!
amazing
This is amazing!!!!
This is my new favorite thing
"Imagine that your brain was made of tiny boxes, and find the box that's gay and CRUSH IT!" XD
Fantastic job, guys! ❤️
so cool!
darn good!!!
Watching this was so fun! Love the choreography. As an ExMormon and ExMissionary, I relate far too well to this song. lol Great performance everyone!
Me pase todo el video con una gran sonrisa.. GRACIAS
This was amazingggg
That was really well done. Bravo!
I'm screaming
Love it!
Thanks!
3:24 THE MOVEMENT THE GUY NEXT TO ELDER PRICE DID WHEN MCKINLEY YELLED *CRUSH IT* FUCKING KILLED ME(the one who made the box with his fingers)OMFG he was fucking SERIOUS💀
Great! !!!!!!
Top job. Tap sequence excellent.
next time it plays Boston I'll have to see this show.
Brilliant choreography (in parts better than the Broadway production for me!) and perfectly performed! Fantastic work!
and CRUSH IT !!!
I know a transgender woman who used to be mormon and she told me this is her favorite song because it was literally her entire childhood,
We held this at our school, and during the “crush it” part everybody in the audience was pretty much going “ooooooo...”
Love ❤! Used to turn it off, only that it turn on in other areas of life.
YAS THE TAP DANCING
Such a great performance. If anyone tells you otherwise they are ignorant, tasteless, or misguided. (As I'm sure you already know). Im going to see The Book of Mormon thanks to this performance. I used to host Mormons every Sunday for dinner. I would tell them I'm your counselor. This is a safezone. Curse, let it out, watch TV if you want. I heard some crazy shit. For such a twisted religion... Mormons are pretty cool.
What a finish
Hats 🎩 off to the choreographer!
The ideology brings me back to days while I was still a member of the faith. It was a real notion, that with will power and faith, you could 'turn off those feelings', as easy as turning off a light switch, and they even had an 'ad campaign' proclaiming that if you're depressed...'Just Bounce Back', like as if repeating this mantra actually solved chronic depression.
I love the tap dancing
So cool. Xoxo
