And how Ben’s resulting arrested development causes him to be cripplingly dependent on his father well into his mid 20’s, and to have never had a relationship with a woman other than his own mother, who abandoned him, and his father’s receptionist.
Can't get enough of this show. I remember it back when it started and now I can enjoy all the episodes 20+ years later. Thanks so much for uploading - I really appreciate it :)
H. Jon Benjamin is such an amazing voice actor. Watching him go from Ben (Dr.Katz) to the legendary Coach McGuirk (Home Movies ***my absolute favorite btw) to Science Court (how could I forget this?) to Archer (Archer) then to Kevin (O'Grady) followed up by Satan (Lucy, Daughter of the Devil) then to probably his most famous role as Bob Belcher (Bob's Burgers) has been a wild ride. Anyways I've got some mad respect for him and I can't wait to see what else he has up his sleeve.
I remember when this was being made in the 90s and they explained they didn't have scripts, just outlines and the players filled in the rest spontaneously and - in regards to the psychiatric sessions - with bits of thier act, and then animated as cheaply as possible. Saved a lot of money and provided a lot of laughs... Not to nention inspiring several celebrated shows we all know...
As a introverted person who likes a lot of calm, it's really nice and soothing to have a cartoon on in the background full of quiet, laid back chara- HREY IM BOBCAT AM MURICAN LEL WHY AM I SCRAMMING I DUNNO.
This show is fucking hypnotic, dude. I don't know if it's the animation or the dialogue, but i keep comming back to this show and I'm not even sure i particularly like it.
The triangle joke at 10:06 is clearly retroscripted. It would've been the first thing Jonathan Katz mentioned, but he says, 'Bad connection?' Ol' Jon Benjamin took it a different route.
That Australian game show Bobcat talked about is a true story. It was a quiz show called Sale of the Century and I think it was a charity episode with celebs. At one point Bobcat grabbed a big wad of cash off of another contestant's table and ran away with it. It was hilarious. The channel received many complaints about the way Bobcat carried on during the show. I thought it was the best ep ever
Not my cup'o'tea , but I say GOD please Bless her ! ALL she ever did was try to make people laugh ! Strange she died shortly after insulting Michelle Obama .

I love Bobs Burgers and Archer. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen the show Letterkenny. It’s not animated but it’s funny and there’s a guy that’s doing animated shorts of a Letterkenny Archer crossover that’s really good. Archerkenny
"clever sarcasm". That's a good way to describe it. I've thought thought of it as; "several smart people hanging out and having fun." It's very very rare these days. Comedians in cars getting coffee and Reno 911 feel like that. Strangers with candy too.
Clever sarcasm is funny. And so is family guy, but family guy is a totally different type of comedy, it’s the opposite of smart; just stupid bullshit that might make you laugh.
@@laraa.7760 There are layers to the comedy on Family Guy, on the very surface it has the easy stuff, but there's a lot you might not catch just watching it once. There's some excellent subtle stuff. Although I agree the show should have ended 6 years ago at least.
Weird coincidence but I just heard at 15:32 or so, "Scratch Track." Made me think of what Dr. Katz might remember as cat-gut guitar strings. It's that I was watching Dr. Katz to settle down because Thor, my tuxedo cat, had just then scratched me. He and I are best pals, but boy o boy!, did I ever think of cat-gut guitar strings whilst compressing the scratch-wound, in order to stop the bleeding. 😹
They don't let me have a checking account anymore. Ya' know, ya' make one mistake. Ya' go out and buy thirty, forty thousand Chia™ Pets on an impulse. Suddenly, Oh, Bob can't have an account. Bob can't be trusted with the credit cards. Well, we just had kittens! Ya' know? Nothin' could help settle up a payment faster than a delicious kitten. I didn't mean eat it. I'm just talking about, like, licking it.
H. Jon Benjamin made the show for me in both Home movies and Dr Katz. Without him I couldn't watch. However I couldn't get into Bob's burgers. I thought the kid with the forever bunny ears was the stupidest thing ever and one of the daughters voices gets on my nerves. Not my kind of show. Give me these older shows.... 😋😋
I’ve been watching (okay, falling asleep to) these every single night for at least two years.
Welcome back
🎉YAY!! I’m not the only one!!🥳
The cutest dad and son team ever. Who wouldn’t want a dad like Katz.
This is honestly my favorite TV show.
" Is this going to require alot of time? Cause I have alot of time." Brilliantly funny writing!
“Left out…butamnotnu”
I’ve been singing those lyrics to myself since the 90s
Dale!
I'd forgotten about this show! Now, I must binge 🤭 I recognize so many voices!
I love how loving and supportive Dr. Katz is of Ben. He’ll subtly hint at things but he never makes him feel bad about himself
Ben.. need to get a job!!
They have a great relationship
He’s incredibly passive aggressive. That’s the joke. Also that he’s a therapist but has a very dysfunctional family. That’s also the joke.
And how Ben’s resulting arrested development causes him to be cripplingly dependent on his father well into his mid 20’s, and to have never had a relationship with a woman other than his own mother, who abandoned him, and his father’s receptionist.
He’s completely enabling Ben to amount to nothing. That’s the joke. He’s not supportive. Lord, don’t have kids.
when Stanley just dropped "ah, CminDim7" after Katz's 'new chord' I burst out laughing
my daughter and i are close, thank god. we're almost like mother and daughter.

I have seen you comment 1 year ago , 3 years ago . Jess , is it time for an intervention?
😅😅😅😅😅
the triangle guy was rocking it!
Dr. Kats and his son remind me of every job I have had where the owner's son is an employee. I literally see no difference.

Watching dr. Katz on Christmas Eve!!
I wish they would bring this show back.

They can't. Katz looks completely different now.
They did some new episodes. It’s out on dvd
“What’s your POINT, Stanley?”
“Eh, that I know stuff”
RIP Joan. You were too good for this world.
I'm immediately taken back to the apt I had in Norman OK. I pressed shirts, made very little and didn't know how happy and uncomplicated my life was.
I wish my patients were all stand-up comedians doing their bits at sessions. That would the sweetest life.
The drums in this show are underrated 👏
Reminds me of a rhythm in a famous Herbie Hancock song

the clever sarcasm is what gets me. now we are reduced to family guy.

Clone High, The Oblongs, Home Movies, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The Regular Show, Mission Hill.....
The 90's animation Bonanza for grown-ups 😘👌
Laura is probably the most efficient professional in the show
Fred Stoller was on Seinfeld. He couldn't remember Elaine's name but he could remember everyone else's. 🤣🤣🤣
