Yeah, this was the 90s, Rodney didn't leave us until 2004, he was very sick for last several months of his life and wasn't really up to doing any more acting jobs the last couple of years before he died, but he was still doing stuff in the 90s, he voiced over as himself in this Dr. Katz episode, he voiced over that Simpsons episode as Larry Burns, and he played that deadbeat dad in Natural Born Killers. His best stuff was still in the 80s with Caddyshack and Back to School. Oh, and those little white balls in hotdogs and bratwursts I think are just little pieces of cartilage, but are more likely just little pieces of fat
This show and Home Movies have been such gems to me over the last couple of years. I always thought American TV was higher quality than most British TV when I was a kid but didn't realise until recently just how disadvantaged I was.
Ben and his dad have such a good relationship that even when he is being irritating with the day planner, it's not too annoying to watch. I feel like if Ben burned the apartment down, they'd still be chill
Saw Rodney danger field on a flight in late 80s. My kid went over to him and said he was so unlikable that his mother had to hang a pork chop around his neck to get the dog to play with him. Rodney told him that was Phyllis Diller’s joke; I don’t get no respect.
@@bonnie_gail To be completely fair, every single person involved in this show is a screaming liberal. Ray Romano was offered a recurring role as an office partner of Dr. Katz. Ray liked the idea but had to commit to "Everybody Loves Raymond". Maybe a revived Dr. Katz could be based on that?
I doubt producers would be willing to invest that much cash. "Squigglevision" animation was used to make this show because it was relatively cheap, and that was apparently instrumental in Comedy Central backing it. Unlikely Dr. Katz would get much heavier ratings today then back then (i.e. no greater profit), but the cost would be markedly higher to rehire H. Jon Benjamin given his subsequent fame from Archer and Bob's Burger's making him one of the biggest voice actors around. Plus adding the cost of post-Everybody Loves Raymond Ray Romano? (whistles) Would love to see it, though.

The way Rodney tries to be so optimistic with Heaviness, that delivery is beyond genius
"I didn't take many steps today. I was relatively still."
That's relatable LMAO
Treating Rodney Dangerfields schtick as a real conversation is comedy gold. Hes the guest that best suits the idea of this show.
And great on Carson
That's really smart thinking. I agree. His routine dovetails right into Dr. Katz's office.
Him and Ray Romano
"My parents didn't love me. They sent me to a child psychologist. HA! Kid didn't help me at all!" Rodney Dangerfield.
