Whatever you pay Marissa you should double it because her reactions in the background to everything you say are added value! She is hilarious, very easy on the eye, and the extra reason I watch your videos! 😀👍
Depending on the Art School one attended, there was a time when you had to pay an Art School in NYC $300 - $900 per credit for a Studio-1 or Studio-2 or Advance-Studio class at night to learn this good stuff. I'm just amazed that anyone can watch a training session like this for the cost of a Smart Phone or an internet connection at home. And that was with Black & White or Color Film and Polaroid backs on cameras to get instant test shots done. Those were the good ol' days. And today are the better days of the Internet UA-cam Ed.
Really awesome tutorial, well executed with a great deal of simplicity. Even thought I've watched many one light portrait tutorial your work has clarified and cleared up and answerd many questions I had. Great work Daniel.
Daniel,I like your style of banter, having watched quite a few of your shows. Your message is now clear "f8 looks great (truism on 35mm) which equates to f5.6 on your medium frame. And the lovely Marissa.
imo a very good because informative and entertaining series 👍🏆 ... I like two things: keep things simple but effective, and don't always take everything so seriously, fun is important in life 😊✨🍻
When I tried this shoot with the stripbox , measure with lightmeter f5.6 and I get so much spill lights on my background..and it’s black!! Daniel..How the hell do you get black background at f5.6(really tried everything like you did and nothing works..must go to like f8 or f11 but loose light on the model to(got a D810 with a 85mm lens) Love your videos!! M
I guess it`s called "real photography" and this process is depending on the skills, experience and creativity of those using a camera and also of those in front of the lense and how creatively and harmoniously they can work together ... and this process starts long before pressing the shutter and has nothing to do with the equipment
Really Adorama!!! A little structure would have helped this livestream immensely. Yes Marissa is beautiful, but so is my daughter and lots of other females. I agree with John Axtell.
This must be highly edited? Seem to be quite a few shots where the flash does not go off yet they cut straight to the computer capture. Or is the flash being lost in the low video framerate?
and I wouldn`t call them "clubs" nowadays, because for me, clubs are places that are comfortably furnished and where you can meet friends, chat and relax, and not large rooms like warehouses where many people jump around and call it "dancing" with music that is too loud and lots of gaudy effects
Dear Daniel, you said at the beginning of the video, that it is seen "worldwide". I like your videos but have more problems to understand you then I have with other english speakers. Often you are so fast and weakly pronounced in your speech that I don't undestand important issues. It would help your "worldwide" acceptance if you were speking more pronounced and less fast. Thank you. Regards from Hamburg.
Not very organized, watched for the first 10 minutes, probably covered a lot of good points but if it was organized could probably do the entire 90 minutes in 20,
Just don't understand the use of a light meter. You pop the flash until you get it right. Why not just pop a picture till it gets there ? Saves hundreds not buying the light meter, and get exact same effect.
A light meter it's not expensive (that Sekonic it's priced around $150) and you save a lot of time using it. But yeah, you can get there with try and error too.
With a light meter you don't do trial and error. You will know precisely the exposure you want. So the first reading you take will tell you whats your exposure in terms of aperture. On the assumption that your meter is accurate and your light is consistent. if the reading is f8 and you are at f4 and you want correct exposure (i.e. 18% grey) you either move to f8 or stop down your light by 2 stops. So you don't pop the flash till you get it right.
Tnks from Italy! Daniel è un grande e Marissa meravigliosa! Adoro Adorama!
Whatever you pay Marissa you should double it because her reactions in the background to everything you say are added value! She is hilarious, very easy on the eye, and the extra reason I watch your videos! 😀👍
Daniel, i like your lectures they are vèry good and informative. Especially for someone who uses film and was brought up with film over 40 years.
Yeah, Marissa!!!! She is just adorable and a beautiful person.
Just awesome, and I'm gladly watch it again. You all have done very well.

And the lovely Marissa.
Have learnt more about studio work in this one video than 1 entire year at uni, well done Daniel and crew. Happy days.

Lots of variety in this one. Thanks!
Thank you verry helpful, will give this a go
I would like to say first the tutorial was very helpful. Do you do a simulator one with one light but high key .

Love your videos!!

I like how Dan goofs off for most of the video and then drops a truth bomb about why it’s important to get it right in camera whenever you can
Lots of thanks for your lessons from Russian fans!
Hi Daniel,
It’s that bloke from the UK again. 🙄. Do you set the white balance every shoot or just when you change camera or location?
Can you explain the method you used for WB in this photoshoot?
Princess Marisa!!!!
I made snoots out of empty Pringles cans and attached them to the speedlite with gaffer tape
Your videos are very instructive but would be easier to watch if the space used are larger and brighter.
what is the schedule for future classes at Adorama store?
What is the process to get it right in camera?

"Antro" means in Spanish a low rent club, if you get there ..... trouble!
"Discoteca" dancing club
Here you go Daniel.
By the way cool video.
Birthday Wishes for Marisa....
I like this model
Still beautydish or grids are my favs
This must be highly edited? Seem to be quite a few shots where the flash does not go off yet they cut straight to the computer capture. Or is the flash being lost in the low video framerate?
This was live. The flash bursts are lost in video frames
In the future they need to mic Marissa too. We are missing her funny comebacks.
Hey.. um from india.
"Discothèques" is french... 😉
and I wouldn`t call them "clubs" nowadays, because for me, clubs are places that are comfortably furnished and where you can meet friends, chat and relax, and not large rooms like warehouses where many people jump around and call it "dancing" with music that is too loud and lots of gaudy effects
FWIW, "discoteque" is a French word with an Italian root. It's not Spanish.
What's happening here? Just winging it.
I WANNA KNOW MARISSA’S INSTAGRAM NOW. 🤨
Guys i cloned myslef in a CINEMATIC way! Go check it out on JERVINHO⚡️
please can u record better audio. nothing is audible
hi

Yes, worldwide.
I watch his explanations from IRAN.
Thank you Daniel, you are the great.

Looks impressive to the client...lol, I actually agree with you on that - haven't used a meter in years.
I don't understand photography. Why not just paint? Saves thousands on equipment and get exact same effect.
Ha ha ha ha
