Modi did a huge mistake by establishing something as amazing as GIFT city in a very wrong place... I'm sure GIFT city would have been a huge success if it was established near Mumbai. Mumbai was, is and will always be the financial district of India... No matter how much money you pour in Gujarat

True. The state govt has also sent detailed proposal for IFSC in BKC/Mumbai & it may be granted ultimately.

It's Maha Govt's fault. Mantralaya slept on several files that CG kept asking for. Gujarat jumped the gun and benefited, just like the Foxconn deal.
@@libshastra Yes precisely speaking it was Congress-NCP govt which did nothing for this & then BJP-Shiv Sena govt under Fadnavis gave detailed proposal & also location for IFSC. They even hired international consultant to prepare report. Now proposal is with Centre but currently they are promoting Gujarat case. Eventually a sub-continent like India will need multiple financial centres like China has so Mumbai will also get if state govt does regular follow up. I've heard even Kerala is considering one since it gets a lot of money from Gulf but not sure.
It's unbelievable that it took MMRDA 30 years to build the BKC connector. It should have been the first things to build while building the BKC, let alone the fact that a metro should have come 5-7 years ago if not earlier. Not realted to BKC but even the MTHL should have come at least 10 years ago. It's too late now..
