one more important point Marathi were not mainly labourers but land owners. The AAGRI - KOLI Marathi community are the real Mumbaikars amd actually Mumbai is their land and culture

They contribited to the city intellectually . Archtects of many buildings in mumbai were maharashtrians .

It's called national language not regional language. Language, culture and history form a nation. Country and nation are two different things. Google the difference. India is not a nation. I'm glad mumbai is in Maharashtra. I love Gujarat, but it is better to see how the marathis have welcomed us with open arms. Yeah sure there were some issues in the past, but mumbai is THE idea of India for me, inclusion and diversity. As an Odia, I have come to love all the different languages and cultures of my country, it's difficult not to once you start to explore their characteristic rich but intertwined histories. For the Gujratis, a heartiest જય અંબે મા. I just love your splendid flowy language, characteristic temple architecture, the playful Gujrati script and the unique dishes, plus the highly jovial nature of Gujratis, who have come to be passive in their own state, regarding languages. ગુજરાત બા has graced us with gems like Sardarji patel, the Tatas, Adanis, our national father and our beloved PM. I just hope, more Gujratis pay attention to their sweet language and adore it in the future. Ah the Marathis, छत्रपति शिवाजी माहाराजांचा जयजयकार , we won't find a more patriotic community like them, towards the country as well as to their glorious resplendent language. Y'all are so accommodating to many linguistic groups, your architecture is beautiful, the dishes so full of चाव and ho, the fighter spirit in your people woes anyone who comes to your state. महाराष्ट्र आई has bestowed Shivaji Maharaj, Tilakji, Ambedkarji, Thackeray sahib graciously to all of India, the marathi language is ever glorious, although at the very least, Marathis themselves ought to know about their cultural Modi script( vast majority is ignorant inspite of having tonnes of ancestral letters in the aforesaid script) and give it a co-official status with Balbodh script. Learning both the languages was fun for me, in some matters one language was closer to Odia and vice-versa. The endings in Gujrati are numerous and you sometimes find it so hard to distinguish between gha and dha; cha and ya, but nevertheless worth rewarding. Marathi pronounciation is aptly peculiar to imbibe, the nuances of dialects, conjugations at the end, but it has been a wonderful experience. The biggest problem was gender in both languages, which was opposite in many cases and hard to remember, since Odia doesn't have gender at all.
No Doubt We Marathis owe a lot to our Gujrati Brothers who brought in the Massive Development in terms of Trade, Buisness and Education. Marathi people were workers not because of illiteracy but because of the huge population, Mumbai is surrounded by Marathi people who were the land owners and Have a powerful history. In school, we learned that the Britishers build Mumbai city or build the first railway but the thing is Shankar Seth Murkute sir was the first person who convinced the Britishers and funded the first railway project. started the first trading and political organization at his House with Britishers. Helped the marine trade to grow, Most of Mumbai's land is donated by him. He used to give loans to Britishers, today's Mumbai police headquarters was built by Britishers but the funding was given by Surat Maratha Sardar named Gaikwad ji, And so on... The trading capital of Britishers was Surat but Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj looted it so many times, that Britishers were scared of Marathas. British had no choice but to move to Mumbai They came here to trade and had not enough to build the entire land capital Marathi, Gujrati, and Parsi are the ones who provided funds. It's not that the literacy rate was less among the Marathi people but they had no trading history as they belong to the warrior background.
I agree with you bro❤

The Navapur talukathat you talked about is in Nandurbar district, and Dang district it is a tribal area which was divided into the areas of Gujarat and Maharashtra, and the tribals there are demanding a separate state, "Satpura Pradesh/Bilpradesh", and this demand is very very old, but even after creating Gujarat and Maharashtra, they were divided into different states, which had an effect on their development. It is happening, and the new state demanded is formed by combining the areas of the Satpura hills of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. And it's called "bhilpradesh" or "Satpuda pradesh."
I was born in Mumbai and I have lived my whole life here. I must say that the contributions of both the Marathi and Gujarati people has brought Mumbai to the heights it has reached today. Love and peace to all the communities who live in harmony in this wonderful city 😊😊😊😊
This story sounds so similar to what my parents think about Telangana State Formation.
Hyderabad city was developed a lot by the then AP govt, but when Telangana was formed, they got Hyderabad and AP lost it.
And now AP is screwed coz of a terrible CM
How is AP is screwed? AP is getting lot of investments, reforms in education sector etc. But huge mistake after state bifurcation was making useless amaravati as capital instead of already reasonably well developed vizag. I hope vizag becomes capital in future as current state govt is planning
Well, I agree with the govt part, but dude Telangana was independent before AP joined to form a single state.. historically and geographically Hyderabad belongs to Telangana but CBN developed Hyderabad instead..
ap got coast and also they got 10 year time to build new capital but your politicians ruined it all.

I am born Maharashtrian , currently residing in Gujarat, Kutch from last 10 years. Little did I knew about the separation of Gujarat and Maharashtra but never thought and learnt about this side of story ! One thing is for sure and that is I have observed so many of Gujarati people and community are fluent in speaking marathi ! Moreover many of the wordings of two languages are same like for example safarchand(apple), phatakde(fireworks) etc. Beyond the complex past I still admire how beautiful and cultured both side of people are! 🙌🥰

I had always wondered how so many Gujarati people, also especially Parsis ended up in Mumbai... Informative.... Although Mumbai is geographically included in Maharashtra, it is mostly a city that was developed as a trade capital and still a place of opportunities... It is in Mumbai's air....
Our leaders were initially sceptical about linguistic reorganization of states
But in the end they proved VERY successful
Agri Koli Bhandaris are the natives of Mumbai, and Mumbai grew because of Jagannath Nana Shankarsheth, a educationist, philanthropist and reformer, he was the one because of whom Indians have access to railways, he's the one who funded construction works in Mumbai.
Chalo man ko sukun mil gaya hoga tumhare 🤣🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Historically Maharashtra belongs to Swarajya, The Great Maratha Empire and Bombay was part of it. There was only Koli tribal community exited on islands of Bombay even before Portuguese and East India Company. Gujaratis and Parsees came much later into the business. Kolis were part of Swarajya and Bombay was protected by Marathas. So basically Marathis were not only labours but also warriors who fought for the soul. That’s why Sanyukta Maharashtra movement was run successfully. You should’ve mention all that in detail.

Maharashtra is lucky to have leaders like BR Ambedkar Ji and BabaSaheb Ji. Meanwhile, Bihar and UP have Akhilesh, Lalu and Nitish as prominent leaders
Babasaheb was born in Mhow in MP and got his education from Mumbai. Also, he was never in favour of a united Maharashtra, he only advocated including Mumbai in it, but was of the view to make Marathwada and vidarbha its own entity. So be proud of that fact too.

My observation about Gujjus are, this community is peace lover, foodie, they enjoy festivals, same time they talk very loudly. They are good in family bonding and relationship. Jains are known for their charity. And Mumbaikar never hating any other language speaker community. All hatred built up by politicians. Over migration is an issue in many countries so is here. But Marathi generation is changing, it's progressing. In coming years You'll see.
