@oldman3319 unfortunately. The thought was that a person could be wrongly convicted by the opposing political side. Imagine Nevalny in Russia. Putin put him in prison for nothing. In America, that person can still run for President which in that case would be very fair. It was a good, original thought. It backfired horrendously, but the premise was sound.
I've heard of a German politician who went to jail for 'Trouble Making' in 1921 and then on a separate case in 1924, was convicted and imprisoned changed with 'High Treason'.

So far, the judiciary, despite being law-abiding, clean and acting in good faith, have done everything they can to delay Trump's trials and have done everything they can to doubt and question the evidence, just so as not to give the impression of being biased.
