I have one and love it. The only modification I would recommend is to stiffen up the sides. I used white felt (the material for cuffs, collars etc) stiffener (glued in) as it keeps it looking more presentable, imo.
I find that the tin cloth is waterproof enough, most moisture I find inside the hat is from sweat. Unfortunately I find the tin cloth to get unreasonably warm under direct sunlight so I keep it as a rain hat
It is a great hat. There are a few videos on UA-cam that go through the process. If they are not what you need then let me know. I can walk you through the process. All the best.
Hi Lars, I have had no shrinkage with the hat despite a number times the hat was soaked. I just let it dry .. so far so good :). The hat is an XL.... I used the Filson size guide and it worked well.
Agree . The older was better and cheaper. The new one is still a nice hat. Filson needs to know we notice and will stop spending on their products if they keep this up.
A very thorough and informative review. I'm looking forward to more reviews from Life outdoors
Many thanks
Great review...... good to see someone wearing it.
I'm not one to comment, but I must say this is a phenomenal review. Decided to buy the hat in black. Looking forward to your future reviews!

Agree.. mostly use as a rain hat.... not the hat for hot, sunny, summer days.
good morning from HK. I recently bought one and would like you to shed some lights on the waxing procedure, sir. Thankyou.

@@Lifeoutdoors-eq5gn Thankyou so much Sir.
Nice information in your video, but I miss one thing, how has the shrinking on the hat been and how big is your head?

That is my favorite color. How is the wool version?
i have the wool version.... great construction.
Compared to the older (and cheaper) version tin cloth hats, these ones are garbage. Filson has cut corners and raised prices. Sad

Yes, this is a sad trend that is growing in Filson’s lineup.
These hats USED to be great. A few years ago they started cheating out unfortunately.
