    Hey! My wife, kids and I make a habit of watching every episode you put out. Not sure why, but my daughter's Emma and Ruby have constantly said you should make a "bunny bait" ever since we first started watching (back around the Hornet and duck videos). Maybe you could do that around Easter time?
    Thanks for all of the amazing content. I love that my daughters are so interested in wood working because of you. God bless!

      Drake Wilcox Mosquitoes are a massive part of the ecosystem. They make up a huge biomass, and bats, birds, frogs, and all manner of small creatures rely on them, sometimes solely mosquitoes, for food. They are also responsible for pollinating thousands of species of plant from Siberia to Chile. There are 3500+ species of mosquito but only about 100 bite animals. The rest are entirely herbivorous and are a big part of the life cycle of many plants. There is absolutely no good reason for these animals to go extinct. Life doesn’t begin or end. It’s an ongoing and continuous **process** and not a series of individual sparks. Mosquitoes play an extremely important role in keeping that process going.

    It sucks losing something you worked so hard on. I remember my first lure, it was simply squirrel tail hair tied on a small hook and I caught a bunch of bream and rock bass first time out then I saw this huge bass beside a log and dropped it down beside it not thinking it would take it and in a flash it did and snapped my line taking my master piece I was so upset then thought....wait.... I’ve got 30 squirrel tails and a box of hooks.. 😂
    I getting to where I look forward to your next video to see Chip as much as what lure you’re making next 😜

    Trout are not dumb fish at all. As a result you need to use Fluorocarbon line (disappears in the water) around 6 lbs and you must hide the hook with some trout bait like Berkley Powerbait Extra Scent Trout Bait. Trout also like sweet corn so to save some $ you can put 1 kernel on the hook to hide it. Hope you get it working!

    Just a heads up in case it matters to anyone, but the "synthetic feathers" are just dyed turkey feathers. Nylon simulated feathers are really obvious up close like that. They are packaged and labeled as "synthetic" or "faux" feathers because they can be trimmed, dyed, or otherwise manipulated to look different from natural. Don't worry, no birds were harmed to get the feathers... they were already slaughtered for deli meat. If anyone is looking for actual fake feathers, make sure they are labeled as being made of nylon or polyester.
    I only mention because the creator seemed confused as to the difference. Not surprising since I just spent an hour on google making sure, and there is no disambiguation between the two. I couldn't even find a good photo reference of the plastic ones that weren't on an arrow. They do exist, I've seen 'em and they look horrible up close.

      Take a look at a map of Iceland. Plenty of freshwater; running and stagnant. The reason for the lack of mosquitos is the sudden change of temperature in winter. It can go from freezing temperatures to a thaw, and back to frost, all in a matter of days, throughout the whole winter, which means that the mosquito doesn't have time to go through its lifecycle and thus can't take root.

    Oh HELL No!! There is no way I would've lost my lure, especially a beautiful lure like that. I've been stationed all over the world, I've gone after my lures from alligator infested waters, jumping into the Columbus river in December, the Swuanne river in Florida after a rainstorm, and not even giving it a second thought! It's not until I've gotten back on land that I've realized how stupid that was, but till this day I've not lost (knock on wood) any good looking lure like that and I've got handcrafted lures from Japan when I was stationed over there. I don't just collect, I actually use them to my brother in-laws disbelief. I almost lost one when I was stationed in San Antonio,TX. I can't remember the name of the canal I was fishing at with my neighbor, but a damned Alligator gar took my mullet looking lure 3 feet from shore ,I jumped on that scary ass dinosaur along with my neighbor, as he sank his knife into it's head. Needless to say it didn't get away, we ate for months on that 187 pound monster, and I swear it tasted like mahi mahi. Will I ever do that again, HELL NO❗I'll probably cry ah little 😞,and give it an out to sea funeral😢. I won't send my wife on a vacation, she's stuck with me till we're old as hell. Your lures are🙏 magical, don't ever stop.

    I've been to iceland and I think the lack of mosquitoes is due to the fresh water around being fast running and glacial, with a lot of hot and mineral filled springs which I doubt are a good place for baby mosquitoes to live. There are unfortunately small midges however...

    • @CharlieBrenja
      @CharlieBrenja 5 років тому

      There's plenty of stagnant water in Iceland where mosquitos could thrive, just like the midges you mention. Our neighbour to the north, Greenland, has plenty of mosquitos, even though most if not all of their water is glacial. The reason for the lack of mosquitos in Iceland is the sudden change of temperature in winter. It can go from freezing temperatures to a thaw, and back to frost, all in a matter of days, throughout the whole winter, which means that the mosquito doesn't have time to go through its lifecycle and thus can't take root.
