It's pretty interesting to note that weight loss can drastically change the way you percieve your own type. Of course your type never actually changes but your perception does. All this time I thought I'm a soft natural but after losing 15 pounds I can definitely clearly see that I'm actually a soft dramatic
I know. Had you asked me 10 years ago I would have said “classic”, but 20 pounds later I’ve squared up through the middle and top and not at all through the hip & thigh, which I gather is a Natural thing.
@@tinad8561 Not necessarily. There are some good videos about kibbe and weight on YT, I think Aly has a recent one! Look at the prime example of January Jones and imagine her with 30 lbs heavier. She might look boxy in her hips, she might gain weight in different areas. She won’t look very lush though, and her bones won’t gain any VISUAL weight to them, and her vertical line won’t change... but she could still look boxy, which is how a lot of people gain weight! The shapes and measurements don’t dictate image ID, but yin yang balance does.
Yeah I have a really hard time telling my type because, while I'm not overweight, my fat to mass ratio is relatively high (I need to work out basically). I think I'm a soft classic but idk, I have a very hourglass shape which confuses me
Interesting. I’ve been hovering between SN and SD. People describe width in naturals, so I assumed SN, but I think my width is just coming from my flesh.
Also, I remeber from one of the first videos you made about Kibbe's IDs, you mentioned that he also described *behaviour* / *essence* / personality traits / movements of their bodies and faces (wow, I really cannot remember what exact words you used, something along these lines) and it would be so interesting to get more in depth about this! 😇😇
It might not be true but I noticed Classics (off course including Dramatic Classics and Soft Classics) tend to be very classy and refined. For example Cary Grant and Grace Kelly.
look. i'll help you out. give me your answers to the kibbe quiz. break the answers up into these categories: face bones, skeleton, facial feature/flesh, and the bodies flesh. and post a link with some photos of you. it is really important that i know where on the quiz you got your answers because just saying i got 4 A, 4 B, 4 D, 4 E can put you in several different categories. Thank you so much Ali for this series, please continue to do more, I'm looking forward to seeing Theatrical Romantic compared with all the other types.
Can you pleeeease do a video on Makeup/Hair/Clothes for Cool Olive skintones? I have no warmth at all in my natural hair (soft ash black) and eyes (pale smokey grey-blue, no warmth). I have purple/blue veins and look a bit grey-toned. EVERY time I go to a makeup counter or hairdresser they always recommend gold/yellows/oranges/corals which I think looks dreadful on me. Nude lipsticks also look awful. Women with Olive Skin, the struggle is real...lol.
These comparison videos are amazing! Please continue with this series, it makes it so much easier to underatand the Kibbe system and the types in depth:).
Hi Ali, I'd like to know more about how to style a soft classic in a relaxed way. For example, how to wear sneakers for a soft classic or how to create a relaxed, but put-together every day look. Could you be so kind to express more about that?
I'm confused between Falmboyant Natural, Flamboyant Gamine or Dramatic Classic. I can see the sharpness and some angularity but which of these it fits into I have no clue.
Quite helpful, thank you! I’m apparently a true classic, and it’s really hard to spot since I don’t know what’s “average” looking unless compared to other body types. It will be good to get dressing approaches.
Can you do a special video on 90s models? You say most were FN. Who were the exceptions? Linda Evangelista and Shalom Harlow Dramatics? Yasmeen Ghauri and Christy Turlington SD? What is Kate Moss?
Thank you for this. I now see that I am Dramatic Classic and not Soft as I initially thought. It was just a little extra weight that threw me off. I am 170 cm tall and my shoulders are slightly broader than plain Classic.
Love your series ! I'm finding it so helpful. I am a classic and like someone else mentioned, I feel I'm more pure classic. Clothes that are more soft classic or dramatic classic just don't look right on me. I'd love to explore this more. As someone else mentioned, it would also be fun to explore essence,
Definitely continue making these for all the types. It’s definitely helped me clarify some of my friends types. I’m pretty keen for the soft gamine video Aly 🥰
I enjoyed this vid’s topic and would like more of these comparisons. Dramatic classic (most likely esp because the other types don’t fit me well at all) here!
Hi Aly. I have a difficult face for makeup. I have a pear-shaped face, close-set eyes, and hooded lids. If I wear any eyeshadow colour darker than my skin, it makes my eyes look even smaller compared to my big cheeks! I'd love to be able to wear dark eyeshadows, but can't find a way to make it work. 1920s style eye makeup used to suit me, but now that I'm in my 50s, that doesn't seem to work for me anymore.
As a subcategory of classics myself, I think classics are subrepresented in your videos. You are using the same photos over and over again although there are plenty of classics out there. Anyhow, your videos helped me to find my style and to love myself better, so there is a list of classics I found after watching your videos. It is meant to help other women identify their bodytype easier. Claire Foy Romy schneider Emma Roberts Courtney Cox Deborah Kerr Elizabeth McGovern Jennifer Connelly Amy Adams Jessica Chastain Debra Messing Natalie Wood Kate Beckinsale
I'm not gonna say anything new but I think it's time to add the description of body type movements, the way they smile ecc. As a classic a can see that I move very gracefully without any effort. The description of these things will help a lot!
Sooo interesting 😍. Although I have seen so much videos about that, I don’t exactly know, wehre I belong to : My Body is pretty romantic, 162 cm high, I have wide hips, a small waist and shoulders are as wide as my hips... hourglass. At the same time my shoulders are pretty sharp and my collarbone is very visible. And I have flush on my arms, hips and legs. My face is very classic. So I am a mixture ? Or am I completely wrong about my thinkings? It‘s fun thinking about that AND it makes me crazy 😂😂😂.
Hi, please continue the comparing as accurately as possible between the types ( I also dont know my Type: is IT possible, that the type changes with the time, when we get older? Because i am nearly 50 and of course i have more flesh in my face, upper arms, butt and upper legs ans i also never was overweight. You do fantastic work Aly!
What I would find interesting is a series of analyzing every body type. That is, choosing one or a few celebrities for each body type and analyzing their facial structure/body structure to show why they are that particular body type.
I’ve been trying to figure out if I’m Classic or Soft Classic and I think I lean more towards Classic. But if Kibbe doesn’t use the pure types anymore I guess it’s settled for me and that I am a Soft Classic after all. Also my face straight on is very similar to the picture of Grace Kelly, just a bit of a softer nose and chin.
it can be hard to figure out if you're a classic because you're not sure if you're just "copping out" because you can't identify anything that stands out in your body. It took me over a year to finally settle on DC, which was my first guess anyway :p
Hi, thank you for these videos! It'd be awesome to see a video about natural vs. soft natural etc... It seems most women are a mix. What are the main characteristics to look for? It seems there are too many overwhelming details for the general beginner...
Yes, keep making comparison videos. This video makes me curious if there is another type (like Gamines, but on the tall end and nowhere near straight) where there are these extremes of yin and yang. I am way too too tall to be a Gamine but there are definitely extremes from both lists. So confused still! I’ve got shoulders that slope down, straps constantly fall off, but I have a significant difference between waist and hips (more than most). Angular in some ways, soft (even when I was so skinny) in some ways. My hands, feet, legs, and arms are long but I’m short waisted. I am a ginger but my hair isn’t red, it’s more strawberry blonde, and my eyes are very pale blue that sometimes look green. Freckled, wide eyed, prominent cheekbones but not too angular. Extremely curvy now and even when very skinny but past adolescence I was curvy. What on earth am I? Some muscles visible, for sure, but nothing extreme in that way lookswise even though I can leg press 675 lbs on an incline! Slightly rounder on the bottom, at least visibly, than on top but still considered busty for sure. Any clues? Anyone? I used to think I was theatrical romantic but even when I was short people commented on my long line so ai think that is out. Would love to finally figure this out.
I recommend you to watch Merriam Styles videos, it helps a lot Because with what you said, you apparently have a long vertical line but I don't have enough details about your bone structure :) It sounds like you have a lot of yang from your bones, and a lot of yin from your flesh which sounds soft dramatic to me ☺️
Can you do a 1940s, 1950s special on Hollywood actresses like Ava Gardner, Joan Collins, Jean Simmons, Elizabeth Taylor, Rita Hayworth and Ginger Rogers. What type were they?
I'm a classic, this is so helpful. Thank you. On the Kibbe reddit, classic is non existent. Because David cut that out, so everyone just ignores that completely. Imagine going on a safe space for body type advice only to find your type has been entirely cut out. 😔
Can you do a video on how to identify the yin or yang of different types of clothes? Like for example, I know yang is more structured and geometric, yin is more flowy and ruffles, etc. But what would like a basic cropped hoodie be? Hope this makes sense :/
Are all classics an hourglass? I know we shouldn't use the "traditional system" to guide us, however every time someone mentions that classics are symmetrical I can't help but think about an hourglass shape.

This was fantastic because you stick to the book and give us todays examples which really helps. I am definitely a soft classic. I have been confused by other explanations. Thank you
Thank you so much Ali for this series, please continue to do more, I'm looking forward to seeing Theatrical Romantic compared with all the other types.
Thank you for very good explanation of classic vs other body types. Now I can say that I am classic.
I hope you continue with this type of content! I love it!!
Yes! ALY PLEASE KEEP MAKING BODY TYPE VIDEOS AND CONTINUE this body type series. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for the information! I would like to see more body types comparaisons...
I'm also waiting to see what is your body type now?
Yes, Aly, please, contiune with your comparison series, they are very helpful !! thank You for doing that !! xo
Yes continue we are training our eyes with you. I still think can't tell if I'm romantic, soft gamine or theatrical romantic
Yes please continue with this series of body types, it is so interesting!
These comparison videos are amazing! Please continue with this series, it makes it so much easier to underatand the Kibbe system and the types in depth:).
What was the description of the musculature? I'm hearing "slightly lith and side-why musculature," but that can't be right.
Please continue this, I love it :)
Yes! More comparison videos would be lovely!
Love these videos 🤩
👏👏👏👏 thank you Aly
Yes, please make more comparison videos like you mentioned at the end! I love these 💕
I just Love your videos 🥰
Thank you...
Please continue the series!
Love all your videos, Aly! More detailed types would be great.
And perhaps a casual, work, evening looks for each type would be amazing too!
Thank you for this. I now see that I am Dramatic Classic and not Soft as I initially thought. It was just a little extra weight that threw me off. I am 170 cm tall and my shoulders are slightly broader than plain Classic.
But 170 cm is too tall for classic. You are probably more likely to be natural or flamboyant natural or even a dramatic.
I would like to see the series continue to compare all types; it’s really useful.
I was waiting for this! Thank you so much!
Yes, please continue these videos!
I would love to see these videos for the rest of the types!
It would be nice if you continued your wonderful work with these comparisons of the body types
Love this kind of videos, makes me understand more and more about my body type.
Claire Foy
Romy schneider
Emma Roberts
Courtney Cox
Deborah Kerr
Elizabeth McGovern
Jennifer Connelly
Amy Adams
Jessica Chastain
Debra Messing
Natalie Wood
Kate Beckinsale
I'm not gonna say anything new but I think it's time to add the description of body type movements, the way they smile ecc. As a classic a can see that I move very gracefully without any effort. The description of these things will help a lot!
I think I am a soft classic so yes, i would love to hear more details about that :) aly you are awesome!
Yes, please compare the other types. This will bei great. Thanks.
I would love a video about shirts for the body types. Or generally outfit ideas for each body type
Please keep making these!! Soft dramatic here 💗
Sooo interesting 😍.
Cool and reserved nature is very key to identifying a classic.
Please talk about curly hair and what it does for face and body type
I love how Grace kelly is the only classic in this world 😂😂😭
I’ve been trying to figure out if I’m Classic or Soft Classic and I think I lean more towards Classic. But if Kibbe doesn’t use the pure types anymore I guess it’s settled for me and that I am a Soft Classic after all. Also my face straight on is very similar to the picture of Grace Kelly, just a bit of a softer nose and chin.
Thank you for uploading this video.I'm Soft Classic btw💜💜
it can be hard to figure out if you're a classic because you're not sure if you're just "copping out" because you can't identify anything that stands out in your body. It took me over a year to finally settle on DC, which was my first guess anyway :p
Um vídeo tão rico, pena que não consigo entender tudo que é falado. Parabéns peço conteúdo. Se der, faz vídeos com legenda em Português😍😍
1:05 does evenly proportioned bust, waist, hips mean a straight body with no curves at all?
No
Great video as always! 👍
Waiting for FN vs SD. Can't really see the difference.
This is amazing 😻
Well I have to think about it longer to try to help you, but at this point I just want to tell you : You are soooo beautiful !!!
I recommend you to watch Merriam Styles videos, it helps a lot
Because with what you said, you apparently have a long vertical line but I don't have enough details about your bone structure :)
It sounds like you have a lot of yang from your bones, and a lot of yin from your flesh which sounds soft dramatic to me ☺️
Yes 👍 these videos have helped a lot!
Can you do a 1940s, 1950s special on Hollywood actresses like Ava Gardner, Joan Collins, Jean Simmons, Elizabeth Taylor, Rita Hayworth and Ginger Rogers. What type were they?
Aly when will there be a video on soft dramatic?
I feel like yes just not a prominent one, prominent hourglass is more likely a Romantic
YES! I'm waiting for soft classic comparison :)
